The Cudahy Varsity Pom Pon team provides an opportunity to improve technique and build confidence in pom and dance through performances, clinics and competitions. The following rules and regulations outlined in this handbook are deemed essential to the successful operation of the Cudahy High School Pom Pon Team Program. Pom Pons is a varsity sport at Cudahy High School. The welfare of the team depends upon the COLLECTIVE efforts and self-sacrifices made by its individual members. I. CONDUCT A. Pom Pon team members shall conduct themselves appropriately at all times, as they are official representatives of the school. B. Pom Pon team members must abide by the Cudahy High School Athletic Code at all times. C. The use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or the abuse of legal drugs of any kind is strictly forbidden while in or out of uniform. INFRACTIONS OF THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN DISCIPLINE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ATHLETIC CODE. D. Pom Pon team members are not to participate in illegal activities including, but not limited to, any type of vandalism or staying out past city curfew. E. Pom Pon team members are expected and required to display appropriate and respectful classroom behavior. F. The use of swearing, foul and/or disrespectful language or gestures is forbidden. G. Negative or derogatory remarks towards or about the City of Cudahy, Cudahy High School, Cudahy High School Staff, Cudahy Poms, the Cudahy pom coaching staff or other students written on facebook or other social media websites will not be tolerated and will be disciplined as described by the Cudahy Athletic Code. II. PRACTICES A. Please refer the Events Calendar for the Spring and Summer team schedule. A fall and winter schedule will be handed out as it is finalized. B. Practices will begin in May and end in March. Every attempt is made to avoid end of the year concerts and other activities. Once school commences, practices will range anywhere from 8:00a-8:30p, Monday through Sunday, depending on the Coach's work schedule. Practice may be extended in preparation for competition. C. During the school year, practices will be held in the evening two to three days a week anywhere from 3:00-8:30p. D. Rules and Regulations 1. With the exception of excused absences, Pom Pon team members are expected to attend all scheduled practices. Times may be adjusted, and extra practices may be added as necessary to complete routines, prepare for competition, etc. 2. For the Summer/ Football season, team members are allowed FOUR EXCUSED ABSENT DAYS from practice. For Winter Competition/Basketball, team members are allowed THREE EXCUSED ABSENT DAYS from practice. a. Excused absences include: Family vacations, illness, personal family reasons, funerals and weddings. The Coach should be notified, in writing, in advance unless it is an emergency. In case of an emergency, the Coach must be notified before the start of practice that day. *We recommend family vacations are scheduled for the week of July 4th or after Midwest.

b. Team members who fail to follow the guidelines may be pulled from a performance/competition. * If a student is in another school activity and the times overlap, the student will not be penalized as long as the time is split equally. Games or meets override practices. If a conflict arises, it is the Student s responsibility to ask the Head Coach for assistance in remedying the situation. Since practice is later in the evening, there are very few school activities that overlap. 6. Team members must be in attendance at school all day in order to participate at practice.
