Minutes of the November 12, 2018 Bakersfield Car Club Council meeting Meeting was called to order by Chris Addington and Lugnut Larry Thomas at 6:29pm. Introductions: Intro of clubs in attendance. Guests: No guests were at this meeting. BCCC Checkbook Balance: Checkbook balance is $6,054.60; Savings - $53.49; PayPal - $110.00 as of 10/31/18. Accounts Payable - $25 to IRS and $82 to USPS for P. O. Box annual fee. Correspondence: None for this meeting. Upcoming Local Events: --Dec. 1: 12th annual Toy Drive, Bak. RV Resort/Crest Bar & Grill, 8am-3pm, entry is an unwrapped toy, hosted by Outlawz & GEM car clubs. Making up custom-made trophies this year. Registration & toy drop off next to each other this year. Raffle in another area separate. Everyone that eats at the Crest, a percentage of food goes to their cause. Corn Hole (teams of 2) contest this year. Rain or shine. Bring out grocery getters if it rains and bring out your toys and eat! --Dec. 1: Classic Dreams Toy Drive, Ronald McDonald House (420 34th St.), 10am-4pm. (No one at meeting.) --Dec. 8: Lynn Hubbard Memorial Car Show & Toy Drive, Sonic Drive-In on Olive Dr., 9am-2pm, $25 or $20-valued new, unwrapped toy. (No one at meeting.) --Dec. 9: 2018 Bakersfield 35th Toy Run & Food Drive, Beach Park, staging 7am-10am, Parade to KC Fairgrounds at 10am. (1) new unwrapped toy & (1) canned food item equal to $20 value or $20 cash per person (children 12- under are free with paid adult. --Mar. 16: 23rd Super Cruise Car Show, 10-3, KC Fairgrounds, www.bakersfieldccc.org. Eliminated Slo Drags this year, little bit smaller this year, nice raffle, nice event, perfect weather. --Oct. 13: 11th Winfield-Watson Gathering, 8-3, 8201 Sierra Hwy. (6 mi. so. of Mojave), 661/824-4728. Gene was injured in Finland, called and thanked everyone who donated. He s back. Foreigners love this event. --Oct. 19-21: 27th NHRA Hot Rod Reunion, Famoso Raceway, famosoraceway.com --Oct. 20: Golden Empire Kiwanis Fall Fling Car Show, 6201 Fruitvale Ave., 7-2, fallflingcarshow.com. 120+ entries, lot of vendors and spectators. Posters around town helped bring in the public. --Oct. 20: JoRonCo Rental Night of Mayhem #3, Kern Co. Raceway Park, kernraceway.com --Oct. 21: 4th PAL Car Show & Kids Festival, Bak. PAL, 301 E. 4th St., 661/283-8880, bakersfieldpal.org. PAL show was down. --Oct. 25: Final night of Thursday Night Cruisin at Chuy s on Rosedale/Trunk or Treat --Oct. 27: Optimal Cares Halloween Car Show, 10-2, Crest Bar & Grill/Bak. RV Resort. 100+ entries, lots of Trunk or Treaters (kids from needy families and they came in costume). --Nov. 3: Wings n Wheels, Minter Field, Shafter, 661/337-0303, mfamwingsnwheels.com. Thoroughly impressed for a first-time show! Drew 400-500 cars!! Opening air space up for next year s event. Made money for Minter Air Museum. If your car club is interested in doing a tour at Minter Air Museum, give them a call or email them at mfam@minterfieldairmuseum.com. Night before at Fox Theater they had a movie rights problem. --Nov. 3: 4th Klique KC Toy Drive, Chuy s on Rosedale, 10-3, 559/759-3597. Good turnout! --Nov. 3-4: 4th Petroglyph Park Car Show, 7:30-4, Leroy Jackson Park, Ridgecrest, 559/707-6929. Dead Owls Club. --Nov. 4: 5th George Snider Classic, Kern Co. Raceway Park, kernraceway.com --Nov. 10: Race Against Cancer Charity Car Show, hosted by Rainman s Hobby & Raceway. Took off a couple of years due to illness. Closed street off again. Had about 100 cars. After expenses raised $10k that day. R/C racing did well considering they had conflicting events. --Nov. 12: Annual Veteran s Day Parade, downtown Bakersfield. Lot of BCCC clubs participated (about 30). Largest Veteran s Day Parade in the state! Committee Reports --BCCC Website All updates current. 300 hits whenever Newsletter goes out on website! --Facebook Events posted that have been sent to Chris as public events. 1,100 Likes on our FB page! --Newsletter October issue in production. --2019 Super Cruise Car Show Mar. 16, 2019 Committee Assignments: - Registration: Studebaker Drivers Club/Pre-Registration; Bakersfield British Car Club/Day of? - Event Layout: (done on Friday pre-event) - Banner & Signs: (need 2-3 people on Sat. before event opens) - Day-of-Event Parking: Mopars & Golden Empire Mustangs - 50/50: Model A Ford Club, Bakersfield - Raffle: - Merchant Plaques: Vintage Ltd. - Sponsors Development: Chris Addington, Larry Lugnut, Bette Addington, Vernon Lawson. Sponsorship goes out for a full year, not just at the event that day. - Event Registration: We need help from the clubs to help us distribute flyers and get event participation in your Council s event. Time is NOW to get participants to register/sign up. - Vendors: Soliciting automotive Vendors first. Tom/British Car Club needs help distributing Super Cruise flyers at monthly (last Sat. from 7am-9am) Coffee & Cars at Temblor. Club Status: --Tom/British Car Club: We are basically on hiatus, Christmas Party on Dec. 16th. --Eddie/Golden Empire Mustangs: Veterans Day Parade today with (11) of them. Meeting Wed., vote for board members. Working on Car Show with Outlawz. Couple of members are making home-made trophies. Christmas Party on the 8th. --Hoot & Robb/OFCC: Lull. Christmas Party. Cars & Covenant in Shafter (Old Ford Garage), every Sat. morning 8am. Planning another event there next year. A lot of the guys from Minter Field go there. --Mike/Model A Fords: 24 cars in Veterans Parade. Dec. 8th is Lamplight Tour at KC Museum, we will be there at the gas station. --Debbie/Vintage: Elections Wed. night. Christmas Party coming up in Dec. Sept. 15th, is our 2019 show date. --Studebakers: We were in Veterans Day Parade today. Meeting next Tues. --Randy/Loco Banditos: Can read the clock today. Working on next year s event. Most you ve seen of them at event. My goal is to draw more and more of them there. --Joker/Outlawz: Toy Drive doesn t end with show. Dec. 16th at hospital. Toys last the whole year round plus we give them money that the event raises. KMC pictures with pre-mature babies for Christmas. Kids with families committed to it. Dec. 7 is our date for 2019 Toy Drive/Car Show. --Model T s: Turkey Run. Christmas Dinner is Dec. 12th. For 2019 April 11-13 is our Tour & Swap Meet; Sept. 14th is Brookdale Car Show, 98 Dodge Intrepid donated.trying to get rid of it. Getting too cold to crank Model T s. --Corvettes of Bak.: 19 cars today in the Veteran s Day Parade. Christmas Party is Dec. 8th. Want to put on a car show in 2019 instead of Gambler s Classic, haven t decided, don t want to overlap. Old Business: -None. New Business: --Super Cruise 23 car club registration suggestion made by Randy Raines/Loco Banditos that if car clubs enter as a group and for every five (5) paid entries they get, then they get one (1) FREE entry into the 2019 Super Cruise event but clubs must bring these entries in as a group. Car Clubs have from now until Feb. BCCC meeting (Mon., Feb. 11) for this special. Hoot Gibson/OFCC made motion to accept this pre-registration deal for car clubs; Joker/Jeff Hill/Outlawz seconded. Motion passed. Mike Martin/ Model A s called it the VGo Deal! --Want to get all BCCC Club Event Dates for their 2019 events by January to get posted on BCCC event calendar. --BCCC Patron Phyllis Culp was out at last Trunk or Treat night at Chuy s! --Raffle and end of meeting.
