Lochner RACE 1: NUFARM HANDICAP - 1400M The start of this race was amended to 1:05pm due to a schedule change with Sky Racing. Routine specimens were taken from the winner PENTHOUSE PET. HEAVEN'S GATE Lay inwards momentarily at the 300m with the rider having to stop riding and straighten her mount. GREYSTAT Lay outwards in the straight. PENTHOUSE PET Lay outwards in the straight. CHHAYA Over-raced through the early and middle stages. BILL'S SECRET Over-raced through the early and middle stages. RACE 2: TRU-TEST MAIDEN - 1300M The start of this race was amended to 1:43pm due to a schedule change with Sky Racing. The start of this race was delayed by eight minutes due to repairs to the starting barriers being required. BROLO BOY Bumped heavily outwards at the 250m bumping another runner. Buffeted for a short distance thereafter. HE'S A ROYAL Raced wide throughout. Lay inwards on straightening. Hindquarters bumped outwards and unbalanced by another runner at the 250m. Buffeted for a short distance thereafter. HELLS GATE Slow to begin, losing two lengths. THIS FOX ROCKS Raced keenly through the early and middle stages. OH SHE CAN DANCE Momentarily impeded and taken inwards for clear running at the 200m. MADAME MANI - Taken outwards across heels at the 250m to obtain clear running. NOBEL MISS Raced wide throughout. Shifted outwards and bumped another runner and at the 250m and then buffeted until steadied from heels at the 225m. General: Apprentice Mollie Clark (NOBLE MISS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for allowing her mount to shift outwards at the 250m resulting in BROLO BOY (F Kersley) being bumped heavily which in turn bumped HE S A ROYAL (L Newman) outwards which became unbalanced. Apprentice Clark subsequently had her permit to ride in races suspended for a period of 13 days to commence from midnight 18 February 2017 and to expire at midnight on 3 March 2017. When considering penalty, Stewards took into account Apprentice Clark s record under this rule, the level of interference and carelessness and her guilty plea.
ESPERANCE : 18.02.17 157/2 RACE 3: CROPCARE HANDICAP - 1100M The start of this race was amended to 2:21pm due to a schedule change with Sky Racing. The start of this race was delayed by five minutes due to FLEETING ROMANCE having to be removed from its barrier to have its noseband re-fitted before being reloaded. HAPPY HARRY Lay inwards in the straight. MARSHALL EARP Trainer Ms D. Warnes advised that she would instruct for the gelding to be ridden back in the field from its wide barrier if possible and this information was disseminated. Raced wide and lay inwards throughout. BESANNROSE Taken outwards across heels at the 200m to obtain clear running. DEIDRE Raced wide throughout. FLEETING ROMANCE - When questioned regarding her hard riding to obtain the lead, rider advised that her instructions were to lead the race, however this had tolled on the mare s performance in the straight. SMILEY KYLIE Crowded and steadied at the 800m. SNEAKY PETE - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Momentarily impeded on straightening and when being corrected had to be steadied from the heels of another runner. Lay inwards at the 250m. Rider dropped his whip at the 150m. Trainer Ms H. Harding was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding due to its barrier manners and should it re-offend in this way again further action may be taken against it. RACE 4: C.C. SPROULE HANDICAP - 1600M The start of this race was delayed by three minutes due to RON S LAD requiring its noseband to be reapplied prior to entering the mounting enclosure and for it to be resaddled behind the barriers. Routine specimens were taken from the winner FIERY COMBAT. FIERY COMBAT Galloped on by another runner at the 1100m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with minor lacerations to both hinds. HE SAID SHE SAID Raced keenly through the early and middle stages when leading. When questioned rider advised that the gelding shied from the winning post and shifted ground outwards abruptly with the rider having to take remedial action which resulted in her not being able to ride her mount out fully over the concluding stages of the race. HOCKNEY (NZ) Raced keenly through the early and middle stages. GALACTIC RULER Raced keenly passing the 1100m when steadied from heels. ALWAYS EASY Raced wide from the 600m. RON'S LAD Jumped awkwardly and bumped at the start. Lay inwards passing the 200m. Trainer Mr J. Eeles was advised that he is to exercise greater diligence when applying gear and saddling in future. WILD BUSINESS Bumped at the start. RACE 5: BRINDLEY & GALE HANDICAP - 1600M Routine specimens were taken from the 2 nd placed FORMIDABLE STORM. RHINO BUSTER Lay outwards from the 600m. MUDLODE Lay outwards in the straight. RAINDANCE MAGGIE Slow to begin, losing one length. Momentarily impeded and steadied at the 175m. CAROB Rider reported that the mare lay outwards in running. KENNY'S SILVER Slow to begin, losing one length. BOHEMIAN LASS Steadied outwards from heels when racing keenly passing the 1100m. PRINCE CHARMING Slow to begin, losing two lengths. RACE 6: BAYER CROP SCIENCE HANDICAP - 1300M The start of this race was delayed two minutes due to HURRY HARRY, whilst completing its preliminary, having dislodged its rider who took an apparent harmless fall. After returning to the mounting enclosure the gelding was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the race. Trainer Mr D. Couper was advised that he is to engage the services of a senior rider for the gelding s future starts. Routine specimens were taken from the winner POET S PRINCE. BEAR TRADER Raced keenly through the early and middle stages, when leading. LONHMACC Raced wide throughout. PENALTY POINT - Momentarily impeded and taken outwards at the 250m. REVEREND JOHN Slow to begin, losing one length. Momentarily steadied when crowded at the 75m. JUMBO Held up for clear running over the final 100m. WESTEROS Struck a gate when leaving the mounting enclosure and after being examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon was passed fit to race. RACE 7: LANDMARK ESPERANCE HANDICAP - 2000M Routine specimens were taken from the winner DARK SHOT. ULTIMATE SUCCESS Lay inwards at the 200m. CUT SNAKE Held up from on straightening until angled outwards at the 200m. Raced in restricted room until the 100m. GET ROUND IT Raced wide from the 600m. ON THE ROPES - Raced wide from the 600m. DARK SHOT Angled inwards at the 300m. BROCKY'S DEAL Raced keenly in the early stages. Steadied from heels at the crossing. Got its head in the air near the 1400m. FRANK HEAVENS Bounded at the start, losing one length. Improved onto heels and taken outwards at the crossing. Raced wide in the early stages until ridden into a forward positon at the 1300m. FRIAR'S LUCK Steadied and taken outwards at the crossing. Raced wide throughout. RACE 8: ONESTEEL HANDICAP - 1200M Routine specimens were taken from the winner BUTTERFLY KISS. CEE I AY Pulled hard for the majority of the event. Brushed with another runner at the 250m and then over-corrected and shifted outwards abruptly. Trainer Mr B. Mathews was advised that he is to engage the services of a senior rider for the gelding s future racing. HEY BRO Raced wide for the majority. JESTPATIM Raced wide for the majority of the event. Impeded and taken outwards at the 250m. PRAGER Jumped awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. INCOHERENT Raced wide from the 600m. PRESIDENT GROVER Jumped awkwardly at the start. Restrained from the heels of another runner at the 150m and then taken inwards. TEMPESTUOUS STRIKE Shifted outwards and inconvenienced another runner at the 150m.

Apprentice Kirby had his permit to ride in races suspended for a period of 13 days to commence from midnight 19 February 2017 and to expire at midnight on 4 March 2017. When considering penalty, Stewards took into account Apprentice Kirby s good record, the level of interference and carelessness and his guilty plea.
