I m happy that this year we will return to the Karinna Hotel (http://www.karinnahotel.com/ for additional hotel and ski school information). Places will be awarded on a first to pay, first to go basis. Please carefully read all of the information below and feel free to contact me via email or telephone (numbers listed above) if you have any questions or queries regarding the trip and are unable to attend the scheduled information meeting. Cost and Payment Deadlines The cost per child is 870TL which includes: 8 hours of ski lessons, equipment hire and lift passes (500tl) Transport, travel and accident insurance* (70tl) All inclusive hotel accommodation, 2 nights & 3 days (300tl) *In previous years, parents had to obtain additional insurance cover for ski trips. This year, this is included in the deal we have managed to secure. Primary students must take lessons with the ski school. These are taught in groups of 8 maximum and are split into ability groups (beginner, intermediate or advanced). There is room for movement between the groups should your child progress quickly or indeed, need to move to a lower ability level. A 50% non-refundable deposit of 435TL is required to secure your child s place. Please pay no later than Friday 16 th December 2011 where possible. I appreciate that this is less than 1 week away, however, advanced notice was given in October s interest letter and hopefully you all have money reserved for this purpose. They latest I will accept your deposit payment is Friday 6 th January 2012. We will only accept payments if money is brought along with all 3 of the appropriate forms and signed disclaimer papers attached at the end of this letter. Zek Campus student payments should be made to the primary receptionist, Yeliz Altunsoy. If paying in Etiler, then please make payments to Rumeysa Utku. The remaining balance is due Monday 30 th January 2012. You may pay the full amount any time before this deadline. Cancellation Terms and Conditions and Losing your Place due to Late Payments The school must pay for the majority of this trip in advance in order to secure our booking therefore we need all deposits to be handed in on time or we risk losing our provisionally booked rooms to another party. If remaining payments are late, we may give your place to another child who has all forms and money ready to pay immediately. In this case, you will receive your deposit back. Should you withdraw from the trip after the deposit or full payment has been made, we can only give a refund if another child goes in your child s place. If there is no replacement found, you will lose the money. Transport Both buses will depart from Zek Campus at 0700hrs and pick up from Etiler Akmerkez (Ulus entrance) at 0730hrs. Both buses should arrive back on Wednesday at between 1800-1830hrs but this is very much dependant on traffic conditions.

Accommodation We will be staying at the Karinna Hotel, Uludağ. Students will be sleeping in four person bedrooms complete with bathroom. There is a swimming pool for use in the evenings under staff supervision. Students may choose their own roommates. Equipment and Essential Items For the safety and comfort of the students it is important that they pack the correct clothing and supplementary equipment. Below is a list of the necessary items. I would ask you to check carefully that your son/daughter has everything listed below and that ALL items are clearly labelled. Ski trousers Ski jacket Sunscreen for face and lips (min. factor 50) Warm thermal / ski socks Ski goggles Warm hat, gloves & scarf Thin, layered clothing for under ski jacket Spare sets of underwear Swimwear and towel Comfortable sports shoes / Wellington boots Small backpack (preferably with front clasp) Toiletries Tracksuit or other suitable clothing for travelling Casual evening wear (the hotel is warm inside!) Pyjamas or suitable bed time clothing Medication (labelled and given to Miss Bell) We will get off the bus and go straight into the hotel. The equipment centre is also located within the hotel. Students do not need to purchase expensive, outdoor snow shoes for this trip. Should we go outside the hotel in the evening to play in the snow, sports shoes or Wellington boots are sufficient if worn with warm socks. Basic Rules We would like to communicate very clearly our expectations of behaviour on the ski trip. Student attendance at all meetings (before and during the trip) is compulsory During free time in the evenings, the swimming pool is available and can be used by students only when supervised by a member of the BISI staff Attendance at breakfast, lunch and dinner are compulsory The school's code of conduct and behaviour policy will apply at all times Students should behave in a responsible and co-operative manner at all times Students must follow instructions given to them by ski school staff and workers who should be treated with the same respect as members of BISI staff After lights out in the evening students will not leave their rooms Valuables (ipods, jewellery, mobile phones, cameras etc) are not necessary and are brought at the students own risk. These items will not be collected by members of staff. Permission Form and Medical & Disclaimer Form Please complete the medical & disclaimer form that accompanies this letter and return this along with the permission form, equipment hire form and non-refundable deposit. Students will not be given their place on the trip unless all 3 forms and the deposit are submitted together. SMS update service and students with mobile phones We aim to set up a daily text message service that will inform you of our adventures. We will use this service to update you on traffic conditions and estimated times of arrival on the day of our return. I would prefer that students do not bring mobile phones on the trip. My phone will be available to them should they need to make calls and I am available at all times should parents want to contact me. If they do bring phones, these will only be permitted for use between 2015-2100hrs. No parents on the trip This trip is intended to develop your child s interpersonal and social skills where they have the opportunity to grow in terms of personal responsibility, organisation, communicating, overcoming fears and helping others manage and overcome theirs. It is for this reason that parents DO NOT join us on ski trips. We ask that you respect this and trust your child to our care. I held a parent meeting in Etiler on Wednesday 7 th December. If you were unable to attend then you may come along to the Zek parent meeting on Wednesday 14 th December in my room, S103, at 1430hrs. Alternatively, please call or email me regarding the trip before the deposit deadline of Friday December 16 th 2011 and I ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I would suggest no more than 50tl spending money (which the students are responsible for). Your child may bring a selection of suitable DVDs for the bus journey. Prior to the trip, I will meet with all students to run through this itinerary. At this point, they will choose their room mates. Students will sleep in rooms of 4. We have requested that rooms be grouped together. Staff rooms will be situated between student rooms and the students will all be given my room number so that they can find me at any time. All ski instructors will be given my mobile number in case there are any incidents on the slopes or any child wishes to return to the hotel. A member of school staff will also stay behind in the hotel in case of emergency whilst the other staff ski in continual loops, ensuring that all groups are working well throughout the day.
