BLOCK QUEEN Tori Jarosz set Marist s single-season blocks record with 71 last year, and tied the program s single-game blocks record with seven against South Dakota on Dec. 21, 2014. Jarosz has 98 career blocks as a Red Fox. The career record is 162, held by Diesa Siedel, who played at Marist from 1998-2002. NEXT UP TO 1000 1,000-point watch: Sydney Coffey the newest member to the 1000 point club secured the milestone in the Red Foxes season opener against South Dakota State University; Tori Jarosz is the next closest Red Fox to the acheivement with 671. Marist now has 23 players in program history who have scored 1,000 career points. WIN IN-SEASON The Red Foxes have either won or went undefeated in the following tournaments, the 2007 Oahu Classic, the 2008 FIU Fun and Sun Classic, the 2010 TD Bank Classic, the 2010 Duel in the Desert, and 2011 Cancun Challenge.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE The Marist women s basketball team has been dominant at McCann Arena (formerly the McCann Center) since the 2003-04 season. The Red Foxes are 134-22 at home during the last 12 seasons. Marist won 26 consecutive home games from Nov. 18, 2005 to Dec. 12, 2007. That streak was the second-longest home court winning streak in the nation at the time. Marist has been exceptional at home in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play over the last 11 seasons. The Red Foxes are 100-10 against MAAC teams at McCann Arena during this stretch. Seven of the past eleven seasons have seen Marist go perfect at McCann Arena in conference action. From Feb. 2009-Jan. 2014, Marist won 42 consecutive home games against MAAC opponents. RECORD VS RANKED OPPONENTS The Marist women s basketball team under Brian Giorgis hold a 2-14 record against ranked opposition. The Red Foxes two wins include a win 12/19/10 over #21 Nebraska 65-60 in 2010 at the Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas and last years win over #20 Oklahoma 76-69 at McCann Arena. The first ever win over a ranked opponent at home. The Red Foxes will play at least two ranked teams in their early season schedule (Louisville in the Gulf Coast Showcase and Princeton at home in McCann Arena). MAAC HONOR ROLL The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference held its annual MAAC Honor Roll dinner at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Court of Dreams. Marist s honorees were Ursula Winter and Steve Smith. Winter played at Marist from 1981-85. She was a standout for the Marist women s basketball program in its early days of Division I play, and her impact is evident in the record books 30 years after the conclusion of her career. Winter graduated as Marist s all-time leading scorer with 1,587 points. She held this record for a quarter-century, and remains one of just two players in program history to score over 1,500 career points. DUNK CITY SHOWCASE The Marist women s basketball team will take on the Louisville Cardinals in the first round of the 2015 Gulf Coast Showcase in this seasons in-season tournament. The Red Foxes will be one of eight programs showcased in Southwest Florida this Thanksgiving as the third-annual showcase is staged in Germain Arena in Estero, Fla. The tournament features a strong field in which all eight teams played in the postseason last year, including three teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament. Dayton, Maine, Stanford, Missouri State, LSU, and Purdue round out the tournaments participants. PRO FOXES Maria Laterza and Elizabeth Beynnon, who each were on four MAAC championship teams in their Marist careers, have extended their playing careers overseas. Laterza has competed professionally in Austria and Italy, and has suited up for the Italian national team. She also played for Italy in this year s Eurobasket Championships. As a member of Paddy Power Sesto San Giovanni this past season, Laterza averaged 11.6 points and a team-best 10.9 rebounds per game. Beynnon has played for SBK Samorin in Slovakia and Olivais in Portugal. With Olivais, Beynnon averaged team highs of 13.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. PACK THE HOUSE HISTORY JAN. 25, 2008 The Marist women s basketball program recorded its first sellout in program history on its inaugural Pack the House night, one of only six schools in the nation to record a sellout. FEB. 6, 2009 Marist recorded its second sellout in program history, as the Red Foxes became the only program in the nation to Pack the House for the second straight season. FEB. 4, 2011 The NCAA announced that Marist was the overall winner in the 2010-11 NCAA Division I Pack the House Challenge. Marist beat out 177 participating institutions which included sellout crowds by Army, Baylor, Duke, Gonzaga, Louisville, Michigan State, Navy, Oregon and Pacific. Feb. 10, 2012 The Red Foxes again hosted a successful Pack the House as 2,692 fans watched Marist triumph in a first-place showdown with Fairfield, 60-54, in a Pack the Prom theme. Feb. 22, 2013 Using the theme of White Out, 2,671 fans saw the Red Foxes record a 69-44 triumph over Rider. Feb. 8, 2014 A sellout crowd - the second of the season, a program record - saw the Red Foxes host Fairfield with a Hawaiian theme. PACK THE HOUSE Pack the House began as an NCAA initiative in which conferences and institutions compete to build attendance. Although the NCAA no longer sponsors Pack the House, the Marist Athletics Department continues to carry on the tradition. MARIST AND BREAST CANCER AWARENESS For the seventh straight year, the Marist Athletics Department partnered with the Women s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to hose a Play 4Kay game, formerly known as Pink Zone, when the Red Foxes defeated Quinnipiac by a score of 100-81 on Feb. 14, 2014. The Red Foxes have been actively involved in raising funds for breast cancer since 2003, and have raised thousands of dollars and reached over 17,000 fans at the McCann Center for these games. The 2012 game was particularly special for Marist assistant coaches Erin Leger and Alisa Kresge as their mothers, Margaret Leger and Diane Somers, who are both breast cancer survivors, served as the Red Foxes guest coaches for the game. MILES OF HOPE BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is the primary beneficiary of Marist s Play 4Kay contest. A foundation based in the Hudson River Valley, Milesof Hope helps people in the Hudson Valley who are affected by breast cancer. The foundation serves eight counties: Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester. The foundation was started by Dana Effron and Cathy Varunok who were both personally affected by breast cancer in their lives. The pair began their involvement with breast cancer fund raising at a national level, but decided to give back in their own community, the Hudson River Valley. Pari Forood serves as the Executive Director of the foundation and is responsible for all administrative aspects of the foundation including fund raising, public/media relations among other things. She coordinates four major fund raising events for the foundation each year, including the Hoops for Hope Women s Basketball Tournament, which is held at the James J. McCann Center in March. For more information on Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, visit: http://www.milesofhopebcf.org/ WOMEN S BASKETBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION The WBCA began the WBCA Play 4Kay, formerly known as Pink Zone and Think Pink, in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women s basketball, on campuses and in communities. The late Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women s basketball coach, served as the catalyst for the initiative after her third reoccurrence of breast cancer in 2006. The mission of the initiative is a nation of coaches raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund will continue to be the official charity of the initiative. Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women s basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls. During the 2014-15 season, Marist s WBCA Play 4Kay game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 14 vs. Niagara, in a contest which will be televised on ESPN3. The Red Foxes led at the half but some hot shooting and strong rebounding from the Jackrabbits allowed South Dakota to pull away and control the remainder of the game. The Jackrabbits had their biggest lead of 15 with 6:41 remaining and the closest the Red Foxes would get to is within 10 with 3:31 remaining in the game. The Jackrabbits used a 28-15 third quarter to take control of the game and would hold the Red Foxes at bay from there. Tori Jarosz hampered by early foul trouble would score 19 of her 21 points in the second half while converting on 11 of her 14 free throw attempts. The quick fouls for Jarosz wouldn t deter the Red Foxes from a hot shooting first half as the team connected on 12-of-24 (.500) of their field goal attempts and 5-of-11 (.455) of their three point attempts in the half. The Red Foxes had stretches of genius on offense but the youth also showed as the team would have ten turnovers in the half and 14 in the game overall. The youthful mistakes could be chalked up to a milestone moment for the Red Foxes, as head coach Brian Giorgis started true freshmen, Rebecka Garderyd and Morgan Bartner, for the first time in his tenure. Garderyd played 13 minutes and recorded two points and a steal, while Bartner played 12 minutes and pulled down four rebounds. Heading into the game Coffey needed 14 points for 1,000 in her career, a three pointer from the wing with 5:37 left in the 4th quarter would give Coffey her milestone and helped pull the Red Foxes back to within 11. Coffey would finish the game with 18 points on 5-for-11 shooting and led the team with a game-high five assists. The Red Foxes other double-digit scorer, Allie Clement, scored 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting from three point range and dished out four assists.
