VETERANS DAY FALL CONCERT

JOSIAH JEFFERS SIGNS HIS NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT TO PLAY BASKETBALL LONGWOOD UNIVERSITY A big congratulations to Josiah Jeffers who signed a full scholarship to play basketball at Longwood University. Click here to read the article that was published in the Times-News.

NEW PICK UP and DROP OFF AT GREENWOOD TERRACE

Beginning Monday, November 27th, we will take advantage of our newly paved parking lot for pick up and drop off on the Greenwood Terrace Campus. Cars will enter just as before from the same entrance and pick up or drop off students directly in front of the school. Then, instead of going straight ahead to exit, cars will follow the cones and turn left into the newly paved loop. Following the right side of the circle, cars will come to the stop sign at Harriet Drive. During morning and afternoon, cars will only be allowed to turn right at this intersection. This may be a change in your normal departure direction but will allow for traffic to continue to flow. Families who are parking to come inside are asked to use the new parking spaces. For construction purposes, the far parking lot beside the middle school will be closed for daily access and parking. The new crosswalk from the new parking lot to the front of the school will be manned by an administrator and traffic will be stopped to allow for students and families crossing the traffic lane. In the afternoon, parents are asked to strictly adhere to the posted dismissal times: 2:45 - PS3-1st grade 3:00-2nd - 4th grades 3:15-5th - 8th grades If you are in line before your child's scheduled dismissal, we will ask you to follow the loop and get back in line. Because of the new design, there will not be the flexibility to pull up and wait. Please drive cautiously, as we will now have students crossing the driving lanes. Leaving just a couple of minutes early each morning will be helpful as we all adjust (plus getting to school early helps our students transition into academics!). We appreciate your patience as we work to make drop off flow more easily and to keep all of our TBS community members safe. STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES Student-led conferences are next week. Please sign up for either November 20 from 12:30-5:30 pm or November 21 between 7:30-11:30 am. Parents with children in preschool and lower school can sign up with the classroom teacher and parents with students in Middle and Upper Schools must sign up in the Google Document linked here. Please be sure to sign up for a time as it helps us in planning the day. All conferences will take place on our Greenwood Terrace Campus - Preschool and Lower School in classrooms, Middle and Upper Schools in the gym. Report cards will be delivered digitally after school on Friday, November 17. Parents and teachers are encouraged to use conferences as a time to ask questions, raise concerns and/or provide praises.

Thank you for your partnership in educating your child(ren)! We look forward to another round of informative and growth-oriented conferences. **DON'T FORGET TO CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND DURING YOUR CONFERENCE TIME. ALL ITEMS NOT PICKED UP BY NOVEMBER 22 WILL BE DONATED TO THE SALVATION ARMY** TBS DANCE EXPLORATORY Our TBS Dance Exploratory students have been busy!! TBS Dancers visited the Elon Dance Department. They toured the set of Hello Dolly, me the costume designer, observed a ballet class and enjoyed lunch on the campus. A special thank you to Linda Sabo, choreographer for the Musical Theatre Department, who led our tour. TBS Dancers visited Feel Better Yoga and participated in a yoga class. Our TBS dancers learned basic yoga positions, inversions, and terminology. A special thank you to Shelley Roupas for leading this amazing class for our TBS students. We left sweaty and tired but with a great message of positivity and a reminder to change our story... you should ask a dancer what that means. No care will be offered the rest of Thanksgiving break due to campus construction. HOST FAMILIES NEEDED In January 2018, The Burlington School will be hosting 16 South Korean High School students from Gwacheon City, South Korea. Gwacheon City is a sister city with Burlington, and we are very excited to host their students again this year from January 5 19. The Korean students will be here for 14 days as part of a cultural exchange experience. The idea of the exchange program is to further their English language skills and for them to experience true American culture. They will attend classes at TBS with our Upper School students, and will also be doing some traveling while they are here. We are looking for ten current TBS families to serve as hosts to our international guests. Interested in hosting two students? Please contact Jenny Sabin directly at jsabin@theburlingtonschool.org. ATHLETIC NEWS All daily athletic information will be disseminated via Facebook and our website. This is a change to previous years.
