December 12, 2017 President: Ted Rutherford VP: Nathan Green president@aaskisnowboard.co vp@aaskisnowboard.com (858) 212-3675 (214) 317-9669 It's a new Year! We start in Steamboat!!! Join the TEAAM! FROM YOUR PRESIDENT Ted Rutherford Greetings fellow American Airlines Ski & Snowboard Team Members.
Team Members. We had a great week in spite of the lack of natural snow; the folks at Steamboat did an outstanding job of ensuring that the race/training courses were covered with enough of the main-made white stuff that there was no need for rock-skis. The snow was hard/icy fast and provided challenging conditions that tested and bettered the saltiest and most seasoned of our crew. We had a great turnout of over 100 members, and some members of the other ski Teams joined us as well. We are looking good for our return for the first NAASF Meet from 14-19 January, as the weather patterns should shift the Jetstream and redirect the snow to Northern Colorado. The Team Dinner at Hazies was highlighted by Billy Kidd s address to our club, and a hilarious roast of Jim Tullos by, Earl, Bob Antal and GT; Thanks Nathan for putting this together. Jim was speechless for the first time ever Thanks Chickenman for all your hard work as our Room Mom at Steamboat Training camp, and for all the Social Czar stuff as well I hope to see you all next month. Very Respectfully, Ted FROM YOUR Vice PRESIDENT Nathan Green Hello Boarders and Skiers, We had a fantastic turnout for the Training Camp at Steamboat. For all that came, I hope your week was as rewarding as mine. The drills were somewhat difficult at times but the end result was beneficial. To

Let's do it again next month! FROM YOUR "A" Team Captain Mike Williams
Need more snow here in the land of Tahoe. Looks like the racing venue for Heavenly GS may move up the hill. Ski fast! Have a great holiday season and see you in Steamboat! Mike FROM YOUR "B" Team Captain Bob Antal Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hey B team skiers, we had a great training camp at Steamboat. The mountain crew did an excellent job managing and making snow. The race course was in terrific shape for our events. For those of you that were there - awesome job - we were very well represented. We are excited to return in January for the NAASF week, hope you can make it. Check the team website for details. Be sure to have your skis tuned and ready for a great experience. See you there! Bob FROM YOUR Snowboard Captain Eric Bergman
JUMPN' FOR JAN!! Happy Holidays, everybody! Hope you are dreaming of snow! Here's the question of the month: How do you jump? Usually, you squnch down with bent knees and an inclined forward upper body with your butt sticking out. Right? But howzabout just bringing your ankles up towards your butt without any bending over? Does that count as jumping? Try it while you are decorating the tree (maybe not...), but definitely try it just on flat, dry ground. This same retraction-of-theankles move can be used while skiing or riding to jump over things on the snow: snow ridges, snowballs, large chickens, etc. Hope to see ya'll on the snow Jumpn for Jan out at Steamboat! Let's get this season off to a racing start and take all the points we can! ERIC Remember: always be nice to mountain wildlife, esp skunks... FROM YOUR Uniform Co- Ordinator Jim Hershey Hi skiers and boarders.. Hope everyone had a great "off season"! We are looking good! The new jackets we ordered have arrived and are being distributed.
