Kathi s Dance & Gym Center, LLC STUDIO POLICIES Newsletter January 2019 Absences: Attendance is very important and instrumental to the development of your child s skills. If a student is not able to attend, we ask that you please call the office to report his/her absence. There are no refunds for missed classes. Tuition Due Date: Tuition is always due the first class of the month. A 10% late fee will be applied to all tuition on the 16th. If you would like to set up credit card automatic payment, please stop at the office and someone can help you. We need a new authorization form each year. There are no deductions or credits for missed classes. Withdrawals must be made before the first class of the each month or you will be billed for the entire month. Observation: There is no parent observation this month. We will be having parent observation the last week of classes in February. Please remember you are in a learning environment and we must keep noise to a minimum. Parent observation will also be held in April. Practice CD s and Materials: Cecchetti ballet & tap cd s for practice are available from the teachers for $5.00. Cecchetti syllabus books are also available. Ballet coloring book/workbooks used in class can be purchased for $5.00. Your instructor will inform you if you need to purchase any of the above items. Website: Please check the website regularly. We will try to keep all new forms and papers updated on the website for you. Forms of Payment: We accept cash, checks, and MasterCard, Visa and Discover. If you are interested, we can set up automatic charge of your tuition each month on your card. Stop at the counter if you would like to fill out the form for automatic payment. It has been a great help to many of our parents to receive all newsletters and forms by e-mail. Snow Days: If we have to close due to weather, we will put it on the television stations, the answering machine and the website if possible. Dance Show News Attached to the newsletter you will find a sign up sheet for the Dance Show. The graduating seniors are working on the theme for this year s dance show. Once again, the show will be at Power s Auditorium and the dates for the show are June 13 and 14. The dance show form should be filled out and returned by February 2nd. Costume deposits for the dance show are $50.00 per costume and are due by the 2nd as well Remember even if you are not participating in either show, please fill out the paper and return it to us so that we are aware of that. Gym Show News Attached to the newsletter you will find a sign up sheet for the Gym Show. We are tentatively scheduled to have the show on May 12th. Please read the attached form for more information. KDGC WINTER GALA The Senior, Pre-Senior and Teen lines will again be hosting a performance on Sunday, January 20th at the Fairview Arts and Outreach Center in Struthers at 5:00 p.m. It is a great experience for our dancers to perform solos and small group numbers for their family. Last year it was a wonderful evening out, enjoying a nice dinner and watching our talented dancers. Dancing with the feet is one thing, but dancing with the heart is another. KLINKE SCHOLARSHIP The Peggy Klinke scholarship will be awarded again at this year s dance show in June. It is a $500.00 scholarship to a summer dance workshop of your choice and it is given in memory of Peggy, one of our former dancers, who was fatally assaulted. The requirements are as follows: At least 11 years of age Submit a 1 1/2 minute video in a dance discipline of your choice Submit a 500-word essay, typed, double-spaced and titled How Dance has Influenced my Life Please submit application, video, and essay no later than April 1st CHRISTMAS SHOW DVD For any of you that would like to order a DVD of the 2018 Miracle on 34th Street Christmas show, please fill out the form below and return it to the office this month with a payment of $20.00 made out to KDGC. We will be collecting the orders and at the end of the month we will place the order for how many we need. Name: I would like to order copies of the Christmas show DVD at $20 each. DANCE EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS Cecchetti Ohio Ballet Day Kathi s Dance & Gym Center is sponsoring Cecchetti Ohio Ballet Day here at the center on Sunday, February 10th. All Cecchetti students are asked to please attend as much of the workshop as possible. Classes in ballet, jazz, Pointe, as well as other classes will be offered to varied levels for all Cecchetti students. Papers for this workshop are going out this week. If you are unable to attend this workshop, please contact Kathi. Cecchetti Exams will be held the weekend of March 1-3 here at Kathi s Dance & Gym Center. Students eligible for small groups have been contacted. Ohio Dance Masters Convention in Newark If you are planning on attending the ODM convention in Newark the weekend of February 1-3 please fill out your paper work and return it to Kathi or the office no later than January 18th. SPECIAL MESSAGES FROM KATHI & MARY I would like to thank all the students, parents, and staff for the generosity of time and gifts I received over the holidays. It amazes me how truly blessed I am to have you all in my life. SENIOR SPOTLIGHT BRITTANY GULLING - My name is Brittany Gulling and I am 18 years old. I m a senior at Poland Seminary High School. I have been doing gymnastics at KDGC for almost twelve years now. I participate in other sports as well, but gymnastics has always been the sport I love and continue with. I m looking forward to graduating in the spring and starting the next chapter of my life. I will be going to college and hope to become an equipment manager for a sports team. ~Kathi FITNESS CLASSES AT KDGC PILATES REFORMER Pilates classes are offered as one hour private classes or semi-private sessions. Kathi is Stott certified and offers classes weekdays before 2:00 p.m. Feel free to call the office if you are interested in scheduling a private. DANCE FIT Jami Byler s Dance fit classes are $6.00 per class. Her schedule for this year is as follows: Monday Tuesday 7:00 8:00 p.m. 7:00 8:00 p.m. TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING Joanne Maloney is back teaching this class geared for people 40 70 years of age. Come try out the class on Wednesday mornings 9:30 10:30 a.m. And Friday 9:30-10:30 a.m. The cost is $8.00 per class. CHRISTMAS SHOW UPDATE We would like to thank everyone for the basket donations and the gift of your time at the busy holiday season. After paying all of the expenses, we are able to donate $7,700 to the family of Mya Krantz. 3

DANCE OUT AT WOODLANDS ASSISTED LIVING Right before the Christmas break, we took a large group of our dancers to Woodlands Assisted Living for a holiday dance out. The girls did numbers from the Christmas show for the residents there. It was wonderful to perform for them, and they loved the show. Many of the residents were dancing in their wheelchairs.

We are now planning our 2019 Dance Show. The graduating seniors are close to choosing the theme for this year s show. Once again the show will be held at Powers Auditorium in Youngstown, Ohio. The show dates will be June 13th and 14th, with rehearsals on June 10, 11, and 12. It is imperative that we know immediately who will be participating in the show this year, so please fill out the paper below and return by February 2nd. Kindercise, Kinderdance, Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Tap 1, Tap 2, Hip Hop 1 students will perform in one night of the show. If you are in Thursday s show you will have staging on Monday and dress rehearsal on Tuesday. If you are in Friday s show you will have staging on Monday and dress rehearsal on Wednesday. Costume deposits will be $50.00 per costume and due by Feb. 2nd. Costumes will not be ordered unless your deposit has been paid. Please return this paper even if you are NOT planning on being in the show. The 2019 gym show is tentatively scheduled to be held at Campbell Memorial High School on May 12, 2019. Dress rehearsals for the program would be on the Saturday before the show, May 11 th. We understand this is Mother s Day weekend. We say tentatively because we are waiting to be officially approved. We would like to start planning so we would really appreciate an immediate response as to if you are planning to participate in this program. All competitive team members, pre-team, open gym, cheernastic, and Kindercise classes are eligible to participate. Please return the bottom form by February 2nd.
