What Happened in the Big Apple before Superbowl XLVII? Page 2 By: Adam Matos On Broadway from 34th Street to 47th Street, the Superbowl Host Committee and GMC made Superbowl Boulevard. It was a series of football themed experiences that took over Times Square the week before the big game. People were able to stop by a live concert, snap a photo with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, or race down a specially-made toboggan. Admission was free to the public. Networks like Fox, CNN, ESPN, and NFL network broadcast the festivities live. While the AFC and NFC champions had to battle it out to earn the NFL's most praised prize, you could take a photo with the trophy just by showing up. You could also pose in front of the oversized numerals. In celebration of the very first snowy Superbowl, people were able to enjoy a wintry ride on the toboggan. This seven story slide was painted to look like real snow. Tickets could be purchased on site (Broadway between 40th and 41st Streets). You could also stop by for free autographs with current and former NFL players.
49ers Lose Page 3 By: Zion Marion The 49ers made the playoffs and the championship match until they made one little mistake that caused them the game. To get in the playoffs, the 49ers had to face the Carolina Panthers. 49ers beat them by 13. The final score was 23-10. However, the horrible throwing by Colin in the championship match caused an interception by Richard Sherman to end the game 17-23. The record for the San Francisco 49ers is 14 out of 19 wins. 5 loses against Seahawks, Colts, Panthers, Saints. Broncos By: Akhil Patel The legendary Denver Broncos made it to the 2013-2014 season playoffs with a record of 13-3. They won over every team besides the Colts, Patriots, and Chargers. With that, they made it all the way to Superbowl 48.
Patriots Playoff Run Page 4 By: Zachary Pereira Zachary Pereira also wrote an article titled Sochi Olympics Boosted Security not Megan Anderson The New England Patriots looked to enter the Superbowl this season after losing their chance last season to the Ravens. The Patriots Franchise makes the playoffs almost every season. After an outstanding win against the Colts, they made it to the AFC championship against the Broncos. Many fans of football watched the performance from the Patriots 43-22 win over the Colts. During the game, the Patriots ran running back LeGarrette Blount numerous time where he had a total of 166 yards and 4 touchdowns. As the Patriots entered the game with the good win against the Colts, they faced the Broncos in the AFC championship to go to the Super Bowl. The Broncos dominated with quarterback Peyton Manning who threw a total of 400 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Broncos defeated the Patriots 26-16, taking the Broncos to the Superbowl against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle Seahawks By: Jason Muller The Seahawks had an amazing season. They had a final record of 13 wins and 3 losses. This team went on to be Super Bowl champions. But what happened before the big game? The Divisional Championship game was against the New Orleans Saints. The final score was 23-15. The next game was the Conference Championship. This game was against the San Francisco 49ers. The score was 23-17. The highlight of this game was Richard Sherman s postgame interview. Where he went off on Michael Crabtree. The Super Bowl was an amazing game. Everybody thought the Denver Broncos would win. However, the Seahawks beat the Broncos.
Half Time Show 2014 Review Page 5 By: Megan Anderson On February 2, 2014 Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos played in the Super Bowl. Wow, it was not a good game, the score was Seahawks 43 and Broncos 8. Even through the game was pathetic, Bruno Mars was amazing in the half time show. A lot of people thought it was one of the best half time shows ever in Super Bowl history. Bruno Mars was tacking it old school with his shiny outfit. Bruno Mars started out with his song Locked Out of Heaven. Then, after that song he sang one of his other hits Treasure. Next, he sang Run Away Baby. Then, the Red Hot Chili Peppers jumped off the drum set and started singing. They were shirtless and it was not working for them. Maybe 23 years ago, but not now. Then the show ended with Bruno Mars singing Just the Way You Are with videos of people serving the military giving shootouts to their family! Movie Trailers Aired During Superbowl XLVII By: Adam Matos There were a lot of commercials during the Superbowl. I will be discussing about them going from the worst to best commercials. The worst one for me was the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I just didn t like because it was fast moving, the characters were not shown that well, and the CGI (Special Effects) looked pretty bad. The next commercial was Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This one was better than the Spider-Man trailer but there was something I didn t like about it. The CGI was good but you only saw a glimpse of the characters. It mostly showed the surroundings and not the actual characters like Captain America or Black Widow. The next one was Need for Speed. It was based off the Need for Speed video games which I think are great. The trailer had a good pace and it wasn t too fast unlike The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It showed off the characters really well and overall it was very cool to watch. The best trailer of all of them, in my opinion, was Transformers Age Of Extinction. Transformers have always been one of my favorite franchises since I was a little kid. The trailer perfectly showed off the robots such as Optimus Prime and other ones. And of course the best part of it is when you saw Optimus Prime riding the mighty Grimlock.
