Turner RACE 1: Suez Recycling and Recovery Open Showcase Handicap 1425m: This race was delayed approximately 5 minutes due to the late arrival of the Ambulance on course. Disturbance Lay out from the 600m despite its rider efforts and continued to lay out in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out. Ruthless Agent Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages and near the 1000m was steadied off the heels of Chief in Command. Chief in Command Apprentice A Sweeney (Disturbance) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 900m when not clear of Chief in Command which lost its rightful running and was steadied. Apprentice Sweeney s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Monday 1 st October 2018 and to expire on Wednesday 10 th October 2018 on which day he may ride. Lay in under pressure in the straight. RACE 2: Priors Bus Service Showcase Maiden Handicap 1425m: Unbridled Princess Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Near the 150m was briefly tightened for room between Bush Poet and Pasaga which hung in. Pasaga Raced wide for some distance in the early stages. Hung in badly under pressure in the straight and proved difficult to ride out. Trainer G Murray was advised that a warning would be issued against the gelding in respect to its racing manners. Mr Murray advised he would now consider applying blinkers to the gelding. Near the 100m was inconvenienced by Or Else (M Bell) which shifted in when inclined to lay in. M Bell was advised to exercise more care. Moss The Boss When questioned K Nisbet stated that her mount raced greenly throughout and after being disappointed for a run between Unbridled Princess and Bush Poet near the 250m, her mount then hung in under pressure and proved somewhat difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
2 Sarzana When questioned regarding the performance, S Guymer stated that his mount travelled well but was disappointing in its failure to finish off its race in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed to the filly to be slow to recover. Opera Tickets When questioned S Pollard stated that after his mount missed the start it then ran in abruptly inside the line of the running rail entering the course proper and lost significant ground. He added that his mount which is trained on course, in his opinion attempted to head towards the training gap however he managed to correct his mount where it then shifted out abruptly and refused to stretch out in the early stages despite being ridden along. He added he then allowed his mount to balance in an endeavour to have it travel and tack on to the back of the field however it was not until entering the home straight that his mount commenced to stretch out and responded strongly over the final 200m. Trainer T Lyttle concurred with the opinion of S Pollard that the gelding which is trained on course had attempted to return to the training gap. Mr Lyttle was advised that Opera Tickets must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Or Else Slow to begin. Lay in under pressure in the straight and near the 300m was hampered by Pasaga which shifted out to avoid the heels of Unbridled Princess. Near the 250m was again hampered by Pasaga which hung out. Atomic Blast Began awkwardly. Unleash the Dragon Near the 1100m was steadied off the heels of Single Red Rose (S Miller) which shifted in when not clear. S Miller was reprimanded (AR137(a)). RACE 3: Bay Bargain Shoes Showcase Maiden Plate 1200m: Pharoahs Rush Raced wide throughout. Accelar Raider Was crowded on jumping between Pharoahs Rush which shifted in and Lord Desanimaux which in turn was crowded by Trapper Tom which shifted out. Raced wide throughout. Lord Desanimaux Crowded on jumping. Lay out under pressure in the straight. Trapper Tom Raced wide throughout. The Notorious A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the near-foreleg which required treatment. Trainer G Stephens was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to The Notorious racing again. Direct Default Slow to begin. Near the 1100m was tightened for room by Sepulchre which was taken in by The Notorious (M Travers) which shifted in. M Travers was reprimanded (AR137(a)). Shady Diamond Slow to begin. Held up in the early straight. Rider R Bensley reported after his mount was slow to begin he was obliged to make some use of his mount to take up a position however his mount was disappointing in its failure to finish off its race.
3 Trevelyan Near the 1000m the gelding which was overracing was restrained from the heels of The Notorious (M Travers) which shifted in when not clear. M Travers was reprimanded (AR137(a)). Held up in the early part of the straight. RACE 4: Choices Flooring Class 2 Showcase Handicap 1200m: Georgian Court Raced wide throughout. And There Is More Trainer T Robinson was fined $50 for the late application to add a Nasal Strip to the gelding s approved gear (AR140B). Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and race outside the lead near the 900m. Near the 150m became awkward on the heels of Maid of Ore and shifted out. Dance Harder Son Shortly after the start was steadied when tightened between And There Is More and Prince Jacko, both of which shifted ground. Prince Jacko Co-trainer K Dryden and rider N Heywood were interviewed relative to the near-fore action of the gelding throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. After viewing the patrol films and taking evidence from Mr Dryden and N Heywood, the inquiry was adjourned to allow the Stewards to view the gelding s previous race starts in respect to its action and to seek advice from the Racing NSW Chief Veterinary Officer. Classic Conquest Raced wide throughout. Saycanyousee Overraced in the middle stages. Maid of Ore Overraced in the middle stages. When questioned Apprentice B Owen stated that his mount was inclined to race greenly throughout and was under pressure from the home turn. He added when his mount was reluctant to improve between runners in the early straight, he brought it to the outside where his mount then responded well over the concluding stages. Tyres Are Crucial S Miller reported that in his opinion his mount did not appreciate racing on a seven day backup. Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Monterey Magic As Apprentice P Scorse was indisposed due to illness, Stewards permitted Apprentice R Dolan to be substituted as the rider of the gelding. RACE 5: AMH Auto Group Class 1 Showcase Handicap 1425m: Jacqui Cadente Trainer Ms L Davies reported to the Stewards on the 26 th September 2018 that the mare was displaying a swelling to its nearside neck following a routine stable treatment administered a week earlier. Ms Davies tendered to the Stewards a veterinary clearance. The mare underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin. Major Rush Held up making the home turn. Readabeel Near the 1200m was steadied off the heels of Major Rush.
4 Bendethera Raced wide for some distance in the early and middle stages. Funky Monkey Slow to begin. Near the 200m was disappointed for a run between All Too Familiar and You Want. Marzena Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the lead in the early and middle stages. Going Purple Held up making the home turn. RACE 6: Climate Control Benchmark 66 Showcase Handicap 1200m: Fantasy Belle Slow to begin. When questioned J Grisedale stated from his outside draw he was instructed to attempt to lead on the mare and dictate terms. He added after being slowly away he rode his mount forward and whilst he considered taking up a position outside Territorial approaching the first turn, when he observed M Bell (Territorial) to be easing his mount, whilst the tempo at that stage was genuine he allowed his mount to stride forward and cross that runner whereby he then was then able to ease the tempo near the 800m. Inch Perfect Slow to begin (2L) then failed to muster early speed. Feisty Fox Raced keenly in the middle stages when the pace slackened. Malachi Crunch Raced wide from the 900m. Lay in under pressure in the straight and proved difficult to ride out. Treasure Boss Near the 600m was steadied off the heels of Balonne. Pindarra Near the 600m was eased off the heels of Treasure Boss. Territorial Near the 900m was eased off the heels of Fantasy Belle (J Grisedale) which shifted in when not quite clear. J Grisedale was advised to exercise more care. Balonne Held up making the home turn. Near the 50m shifted to the inside of the heels of Territorial to continue into clear running. Treasure Boss Over the concluding stages was checked when tightened for room between Feisty Fox, which after shifting out slightly was then turned out when contacted on the hindquarter by Treasure Boss, and Malachi Crunch (App R Dolan) which laid in. Whilst Stewards accepted that App R Dolan was taking some action to correct his mount, he was reminded of his obligation to make every effort to correct his mounts when they commence to shift ground. RACE 7: Soldiers Club Batemans Bay Cup Benchmark 66 Showcase Handicap 1650m: Ribs Shortly after the start got its head up and was then steadied to obtain cover. Millijule Raced wide throughout.
5 Arrows Destiny Trainer T Bateup was fined $100 for the late declaration of W Costin as the rider of the gelding (LR35). Raced wide in the early stages. Zariz Alwyns Held up until near the 200m. Arrondissement Rider B Ward reported that after his mount was crowded on jumping by Rapture Miss which shifted out, his mount then overreacted, got its head up and lost further ground (3L). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Dashtorush Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 1100m was steadied off the heels of Louis Choice. Rapture Miss When questioned regarding her riding approaching and leaving the 600m, K Nisbet stated that when O Lordy improved to her outside prior to the 600m, she then attempted to shift out to a three wide position and commence her run. She added however that after making contact with O Lordy, she was unable to establish that position and remained pocketed by that runner making the home turn. K Nisbet stated as a result she was then obliged to improve between runners however was held up and could not obtain clear running until inside the 200m. K Nisbet agreed with the Stewards that in hindsight she had erred in not attempting to establish a position outside of the heels of Whispered Prayer sooner which would have ensured her mount was given every opportunity to obtain clear running from that point. Diamond Made Raced keenly in the middle stages. RACE 8: Bay Post Open Showcase Handicap 1010m: Clipper Raced wide throughout. Smooth Tycoon Stewards acceded to an application on acceptance day for S Miller to ride the gelding 1/2kg overweight at 54.5kg. Leami Astray A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Rhomlo Severely checked when crowded on jumping between Lucy Rose which shifted out and Green Sweet which was taken in by Termele. Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii). Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken.
