I hope everyone s season is off to a fantastic start. RAHA teams continue to add hardware to the trophy case and are playing very competitive district games, as well as against some top teams in scrimmages. I am just over half way into my second year as communications coordinator. This was a new position to the board last year and as I am writing this I looked back to my first article which outlined the communications committee s goals. For the most part we have accomplished what we set out to do. The website is dynamic and has become a more user friendly tool for the coaches, managers and membership. A huge thank you to all of our managers. Your time and dedication are invaluable to association communications. In last year s end of year survey, over 95% of the membership reported that communications from the managers were helpful in keeping them informed. In my original letter back in July of 2012 I stated Communication is far more than sending out pieces of data or updates. We hope to not only provide information, but to share two-way communicate with the membership. In order to do this we must have your cooperation. We will provide the information but the best website in the world is ineffective if no one logs on and the greatest ideas will remain mere ideas if not shared. We encourage and welcome any ideas or feedback. I feel there is more that can be done to hear your thoughts and ideas. We recently send out a request to the traveling parents to complete a mid-season survey so we can assess how the season is shaping up. We can then make positive changes during the season. Thank you to all who took the time to complete the surveys. We will be reviewing them over the next week. IP parents, a similar survey will be sent in early to mid-january to provide you the opportunity to let us know how the season is going for our younger skaters. Keep in mind, we welcome feedback from you at any time. If there are any concerns or kudos that you'd like to share at any time, please feel free to contact Craig (president), Kyle (vice-president/grievance), or Dan (Ace Coordinator) or any of the board members. Our contact information is on the website under the board tab. Have a safe and happy holiday season and please take every opportunity to let your loved ones know what they mean to you. I look forward to seeing you at the rink. 2013-14 RAHA Board Sincerely, MaryAnn Fox RAHA Communications Coordinator President Vice President Secretary/Treasurer Operations/Fundraising Communications Website/Volunteers/Registration Player Development - IP Coaches Coordinator Player Development- Traveling Craig Nelson Kyle Anderson Mike Humble Shaun Nelson MaryAnn Fox Chris Kalata Stacy Johnston Matt Berg Troy Campbell IP Coordinator (Mites & U8) IP Coordinator (Mini-Mite & U6) Assoc. In early Pool play, the hosts took care of New Prague 3-0 and Duluth East 4-1 to earn a spot in the Championship Bracket. An exciting semi-final game with Rochester was tied 1-1 late in the 3rd until Griffin Lanoue redeemed his (2) 3rd period penalties and top shelved the winner. That setup a championship match-up with cross-town rival Farmington. The Irish took a 4-2 lead into the 3rd and some very solid defense and goaltending would keep the Tigers at bay and a 4-2 victory put the trophy in the case. Congrats and keep the momentum going boys! Page 3

News from Traveling-Bantams Bantam C Brings Title Back from Cheese Land More hardware for the Bantam C Squad as they bring back a 1st Place Trophy from across the river in Somerset. The Irish took care of Eau Claire, WI 5-3 and Hudson, WI 7-1 to setup an ALL MN final with crosstown rival Burnsville. A very entertaining championship game would come down to the final period where the boys would grind out a 4 to 3 win. An awesome tournament start to the season as they add a championship to their runner-up finish in Apple Valley. Bantam C Places 2nd at the Big Apple Congrats to Ben Harris and the Bantam C squad for earning 2nd place in the 12-team Big Apple Invitational at Hayes Arena in Apple Valley. The Irish earned the #1 overall seed with pool play victories over Chaska 4-1, Sioux Falls 4-0 and Highland Central 4-3. That setup a championship clash that is starting to become very familiar (Rosemount vs Edina). The cake-eaters got the best of our boys this time 7-1, but kudos to the coaches and team for your runner-up finish. News from Traveling Peewee Peewee B2 White Team wins in Hopkins Coach Cusack and the Peewee B2 White lads are off to a great tournament start winning their 2nd in a row at Hopkins. Duplicate 4-3 victories over Orono and Hopkins put the Irish in the championship game against Edina. An exciting title game would come down to great goaltending and our Irish would prevail 2-1 over the Hornets. The Big Win improved their season record to a PERFECT 10-0! Congrats to the Boys! Peewee B2 Green Team takes 2nd in Eagan The PeeWee B2 Green team brought home 2nd place in the Eagan Thanksgiving Shootout. They beat Cottage Grove, Elk River, Mahtomedi and Prior Lake. They lost to Mahtomedi in the rematch for the Championship. Great Tournament, good work boys! Page 4

News from Traveling Squirt Squirt A Finish 3rd in Burnsville Coach P's Squirt A's captured 3rd place at Burnsville over Thanksgiving weekend. A 2-1 pool play record (Irish 3 Eastview 2, Irish 4 Tonka 3, Lakeville North 6 Irish 4) was good to earn a birth in the semi-finals against Apple Valley where our boys would fall 4-1. That setup a 3rd place game rematch with Lakeville North and this time we got our Panther Revenge with a 2-1 victory. Congrats Irish Squirt A's! Squirt B Blue Runner-up at The Irish Ice Classic Cheers to Jeff Tuccitto and his Irish Squirt C Blue for their runner-up finish in the Rosemount Irish Ice Classic at RCC. Victories over Forest Lake 3-1 and Chaska- Chanhassen 6-1 earned a spot in the championship game for a matchup with Youth Hockey Hubs #1 ranked Osseo-Maple Grove. With the score tied 1-1 early in the 2 nd, Logan Heim put the Irish on top 2-1, but the lead was short lived as OMG took it from there scoring 8 unanswered goals to take the title 9-2. Still another championship game for Rosemount and extra special when you are the tournament host. Congrats Bombers! Squirt C Blue wins at Big Apple Invitational Doug Ebner s Rosemount Squirt C Blue took 1 st place in the Big Apple Invitational. On the way to bringing home the 40lb 1 st place trophy, the Squirt C Blue team took care of Edina 7 to 0 and Johnson/Como 5 to 1 to set up a championship game with Lakeville South. The final horn sounded with the scoreboard reading 3-0 Irish and the boys were able to toss their gloves in the air at and enjoy bringing home the hardware. Congratulations Squirt C Blue! Page 5

Traveling News-Squirt Squirt C Blue Team Making Sandwiches for Community Service Project In November the Squirt C Blue team made 150 sandwiches that benefited the Minneapolis Recreation Development s 363 Days Food Program. The sandwiches will be distributed to the homeless within the Twin Cities Area. The boys did a great job and had a lot of fun! Squirt C White wins in River Falls It was an exciting weekend for the Squirt C White team as they brought home a first place trophy from the Jennifer Jenkins Memorial Tournament in River Falls. In their first game they defeated the hometown River Falls Wildcats by a score of 14-0 in an early morning matchup. They then played Janesville and came away with another shut-out with a score of 3-0. This advanced them to the championship game where they faced off with Woodbury. They would claim the championship title with a 3-1 victory over the Predators. Way to go Irish! Squirt C White takes 2nd in Chaska Congratulations to Coach Carlson and the Squirt C White team for bringing home the Runner-Up trophy from Chaska's 16 team Brick City Tournament. In early pool play, they tied Canada's Neebing Hawks 3-3 and shut out Chaska Chanhassen Black 6-0. After a fast paced game against Mahtomedi they were able to secure a 4-2 victory and guaranteed themselves a spot in the semi-finals. In an early morning semi-final match-up they faced Canada's Volunteer Pool Bearcats where a fast offense, a tough defense, and goalie Chris Hekrdle set up a 7-0 shutout and advanced the team to the championship game where they squared off against the Forest Lake Rangers. After a tough battle, the Rangers came out on top by a score of 3-1. A second place finish in their first tournament is a great start to the season! Page 6
