The training we received was well worth the three hours spent learning more about depression, anxiety, and suicide. Being given strategies to know how to approach students who are struggling with these issues and provide them with the help and hope needed is a comfort to me. Knowing our entire staff is on board, once again shows us what a blessing this team of Christian caretakers truly is! Over the weekend as I shared what I had learned with other people in my life, the discussion regularly turned to the stigma that mental health still has and how that is really the first problem that needs to be eliminated in our society. If you are concerned that your child may be suffering from a mental health issue or you yourself are, please contact me and I will share the resources available. Do not hesitate. The sooner we can get help, the better. Going to a counselor or therapist when you re feeling sad or overwhelmed should be as normal as going to the doctor when you have the flu. Let s end the stigma around mental health. #endthestigma(pathway2success fb) Expansion update: The expansion work will soon be completed, but the inspections required have not as of this writing. We will not be able to move in until occupancy has been authorized. This is in the hands of the state, and we just continue to patiently wait. But in the meantime MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Sunday, January 27 th is our Lutheran Schools kick-off AND the dedication of the expansion wing! Details to come! (we are thinking about this time line: 9:30 tours begin, 10:00 dedication, 10:15 1 st grade-8 th grade get ready to sing in church) Blessings, Susan Klauer
Early Childhood Open House Our Early Childhood Open House for the 2019-20 School Year is scheduled for Monday, February 4 at 6:30 P.M. Come and get information and registration materials for our: Pre-Kindergarten Program (child must be 3 years old by September 1st and potty trained) Kindergarten Class (child must be 5 years old by September 1st and take the Kindergarten Readiness Test) Mark your Calendars! January 27 is the kick-off for our week-long Lutheran Schools celebration! We are so blessed to be able to learn in a Christ-centered environment that teaches us how God wants us to live in this world. We are so blessed to have a congregation that values Christ-centered education and the training up of the future generations of Christians. We also appreciate the families that make the choice to include Trinity as part of their children s lives, those who put Christ first in all things. Next Sunday, the students sing in worship to celebrate all that God has done for us! Lutheran Schools Week will continue with dress up days and special activities, including a pancake breakfast, a joint worship with the other Lutheran schools in the Bay Area, Chapel led by VLHS, a classic movie day, and ending the week with a Volleyball game, 8th graders vs. staff! This year s LSW theme is Real. Present. God. Also, mark your calendars for January 27th as it is the day we dedicate the expansion to our school! We have not acquired occupancy quite yet, but the work is near completion, and we want to set time aside to dedicate this addition to God, who continues to bless us beyond our expectations. The dedication ceremony, led by Pastor Sherry, will begin at 10:00 a.m. If you are interested in touring the classrooms, you are welcome to come as early as 9:30 a.m. or stay after to walk through. To God be the glory! Pep Rally Pictures (more on Page 4)
Wild Game Dinner Planning is underway for the 3rd Annual Sportsman s Wild Game Dinner! The event is Saturday, March 9th at Bay Valley Resort and Conference Center. The doors open at 4:30 P.M. and dinner is served at 6:00 P.M. Tickets are $50 each and go on sale Monday, in the school office. We anticipate that this event will sell out very quickly as it has in the past, so act quickly if you d like to attend. Also, please start thinking about live and silent auction items! We need your help to make this event another great success! We can use a variety of items related to hunting, fishing, camping, outdoor activities, as well as items to fill gift baskets. (see the list of ideas below) Something that is helpful for auction items are baskets and filler material. Maybe you received a gift basket for Christmas? We can take empty baskets off your hands! Ribbon and filler material is needed and can be purchased from the Dollar Stores. Please think about the businesses (restaurants, salons, stores, etc.) that you frequent, they may want to donate, please don t hesitate to ask them! If you support them as a customer, they are likely to support you by giving to a great cause. We have receipts in the office available for anyone s tax deductible donation. It takes many of us from our Trinity family to pull this together. If you can help in any way, PLEASE DO! Thank you for considering any help you can give! Here s a list of items that we have had purchased or donated in the past. This is just a guideline, any donations are appreciated! Please drop off any and all donations by 5 in the school office.
