USD383 will make the decision to close school dues to weather as early in the morning as possible. In the hope of reaching everyone, the announcement is broadcast by most local radio and television stations,, Manhattan-Ogden messages and enotification, the USD383 web site, and the USD383 Facebook page. IF you have not previously signed up for Manhattan-Ogden Messages, please do so! To sign up go to http://www.usd383.org/manhattan-ogden and click on the Communication Portal button on the homepage. Follow the sign up directions for enotification (email) or Manhattan-Ogden Messages (text alerts). Please make sure you check the box pertaining to weather in either of the sign up options. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19 SPIRIT DAY WEAR YOUR PAJAMAS BRRRR ALERT!!! As colder weather sets in, please make sure that your student is dressed appropriately to play outdoors. Woodrow Wilson has outdoor recess unless the temperature (or wind chill) falls below 20 degrees. This means students will need gloves and hats to wear along with their warm coats. Don t forget to label your students belongings with their last name as things get misplaced easily. We have many items in our Lost and Found. Have your student check the front hall or in the gymnasium regularly.

Book Exchange! Tired of the same old books at home? Woodrow Wilson is having a book exchange on Tuesday, December 11 th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. You may bring up to 10 books during the week of December 3 rd -7 th for the exchange. A table will be set up in the front door hallway to collect books that week. On the night of the exchange, you will be given a slip with the number of books you can select. Happy Reading! NOTES FROM THE NURSE A couple reminders: 1. All over the counter medications do need to have a Non-prescription Medication Form filled out and signed by a parent and any prescription medication have to have the Prescription Medication form filled out and signed by both a parent and a physician. Both forms are available on the schools website. 2. Please keep your child home if they have a fever until they are fever free for 24 hours without medication. Remind your child to cough into their elbow and wash their hands frequently. 3. We still have several students who do not have current vaccinations on file. Please be checking your student s backpack for a note regarding this. Flu Season Reminder Kansas Department of Health and Environment's regulation KAR 28-1-6 recommends that all students with a confirmed case of influenza stay home for seven days from the onset of symptoms. In addition to the recommended seven day guideline, USD 383 policy states that students may not return to school until fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If you have questions please feel free to call (785-587- 2170) or e-mail me mindis@usd383.org
