From the desk to the editor A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents, It's a pleasure to introduce our first edition of the Alnoor newsletter. It's the studious efforts and collaboration of our teaching staff and students that comes through. I would like to share with you all updated news and activities of our school, and I would appreciate your feedback to upgrade and expand further editions of the magazine. THE TOURNAMENT Year going for the kill A part of Alnoor s annual events is the Football Tournament, where the teams from the secondary classes compete for the gold trophy! This year s tournament has been the most competitive yet. Teams from all the four levels played extremely well. It got more intense, game after game... They were all very exciting to watch! Everyone knew that level would win this tournament, until a tragic incident happened The main member of the team broke his nose during one of the games. The hope of the level supporters, students and teachers, slowly faded away The referee gave the tournament a break, as the player had to rest at home for a while. As soon as the boy recovered, the competition was Year supporters back on fire! And level put smiles on their supporter s faces once again!..2...5..6 Goals! What An Amazing Score! CONGRATULATIONS! PUZZLES AND FACTS AL NOORIAN Man ate aircraft! Did you know? Page 5 An inquest into the death of Brit Frederick Edwards in 9 found 2 nails, 6 staples and penknives in his stomach. But he didn t even have half the appetite of Frenchman Michel Lotito, whose stage name was Mr Eat All. Michel ate 8 bicycles, 5 shopping carts, TV sets, a computer, numerous razor blades and, believe it or not, one Cessna 5 light aircraft. The aircraft meal was not fast food, though; it took him two years, 98 98, to munch through the delight. He finished the shopping cart in four-and-a-half days. On average, Lotito ate 2 lb (almost a kg) of glass and metal a day (as seen in the Mr Eat All video). His strange diets certainly was enough to get him into the Guinness Book of Records section of unusual skills. Only bananas and hard-boiled eggs made him feel sick, he said. When the star ten times more massive than our own Sun, explodes (Supernova) it leaves behind the strangest phenomenon in the Universe. The Black Hole. After explosion what is left behind is heavy core of subatomic particles, a Neutron Star. It can be very small, but with enormous density. Scientists calculated that approximately one teaspoon of Neutron Star would weight around billions of tons. The gravitational pressure of this highly dense object is so large that it can bend fabric of time and space. This theory is based on Einstein's proposition that space and time are woven together in a flexible fabric. Massive objects like Sun warp the fabric of space and time and pull smaller objects like Earth. Very large Neutron Star can warp time and space fabric so much that it could create a hole where gravity is so strong that not even light could escape. Black Holes are pulling everything around them closer to the center of the hole. In some sense black holes are creators of the galaxies since they are pulling planets and stars towards the spiral center. Each galaxy has a Black Hole and occasionally galaxies collide together because of the gravitational pull from the larger black holes. It is expected that in 5 billion years Andromeda galaxy will collide with our Milky Way galaxy.
Page 6 This is a story written by Yasaman and Merawa of level TALENT OF A TEN YEAR OLD Once upon a time there was a woman names Nathalie from Kansas, she was very kind. A few years after she married, her husband died in a car accident. She got very rude because she had no one in her life anymore. And after her husband died, with all of her sadness, she stood up to her fears, and realized she was pregnant. She then said how am I ganna raise these children now that I don t have a husband to help me. So after seven months she went to the hospital to know if it s a girl or a boy. When the doctor got the results he told her that you have twins and they re girls. After two months, when it was time, she went to the hospital again. While there she got interesting news that made her lose her temper. The doctor told her that one of them is gana be born a day after the other one. So the mother started to hate her children. She names the elder one Emalia and the younger one Roxy, her two least favorite names. Ten years after their birth, Roxy was sitting in a garden by her house hiding from her mom. But, her mom found her and said go and study now but Roxy said I can t mom, Emalia is in the study room I can t go in and distract her then the mom said well I don t care, go study on the couch now, so without saying anything Roxy went up to the house to study, and her mom followed her too. Roxy went to the living room to get started on her studies, her mother went to the study room to make sure that Roxy wasn t lying about Emalia, when she opened the door she saw that Emalia was texting with her friends, so Nathalie got so angry that she took her phone from her hand and smashed it on the floor.
