Pool party, volleyball starts at noon. Bring a dish to share, BYOB. Soft drinks, plates, etc. and a grill are provided. Directions: From the Mid- Hudson Bridge, go south on Route 9W to Marlboro, turn left on Old Post Road across from the Village Square Mall. Below is the information on the golf course. Sign ups will continue until the rooms are full or through the first club meeting in August, whichever comes first. Non Golfers and non members are welcome to join the fun. Hiking, sightseeing or just enjoying the pool at the Grand Summit will round out this mini-vacation. Non- golfer price is $100. The Mount Snow Golf Course has matured into one of Vermont s premier mountain courses and has been rated one of the top five in the state by Golf Digest. Designed by New England course architect Geoffrey Cornish, our 18- hole championship course has also been named one of the top 10 resort courses in the country by SKI Magazine. The course meanders through spectacular Vermont countryside and provides stunning views of the Green Mountains, including the peaks of Mount Snow and Haystack. Picture tamaracks, oaks, birches and sugar maples lining fairways while the mountains provide a majestic backdrop. The front nine is spread over scenic expanses and the back nine winds its way through wooded terrain. Water comes into play on 11 holes and 41 sand traps are strategically located around nearly every hole. The course sits 2,000 feet above sea level. Time Fly s Wow, it s June already. In seven more (or less) months we will be back on the slopes. Time does have a way of flying by when our lives are busy. Since last December the events planned by your 75th Anniversary Committee, along with the Trip Committee, have been well attended and thoroughly enjoyed. Still to come are a verity of events culminating with November s Gala. It is my sincere hope that as many members as possible take part in these upcoming events. As we look forward to the rest of year, I would like to ask each of you to, again, think of places to display our club brochures. Some locations may need to be restocked and new ones found. I have a supply ready to go, just let me know how many you need. I would like your feedback on this year s events. Last September Cheryl Corbett, Northeast Area Director, spoke at our meeting and was presented with a "First Installment" of donations. Since September additional donations have been collected that far exceed the First Installment. We have had and will continue having the Blue Barrel at our meetings as an ongoing project for the club for you to add your no longer needed gloves, mitts, jackets, suits, pants, socks, thermal layers, hats, neck warmers, helmets, boots, poles etc. Periodically we will box up the goods and send them on to SkiDUCK. SkiDUCK (SKIing and snowboarding for Disabled and Underprivileged Children and older Kids) is a new, grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of disabled and underprivileged children by sharing the joys of skiing and snowboarding. SkiDUCK is committed to partnering with local organizations with similar goals of serving disabled and underprivileged children. And in areas where these needs aren't yet being served, we seek to establish a sustainable model of service with local resources and volunteers. If your community or organization is interested in partnering with SkiDUCK to establish or enhance a program to help children onto the slopes, give us a QUACK! Vermont Adventure August 14 through 18 Hudson Valley Ski Club's 75th Anniversary Celebration continues with a base of operations at the Mid Jersey Ski House located in Wallingford, Vermont. Wallingford is about ten miles south of Rutland. Plan to come for one, two, three, four or even five days. Each day will offer guided/mapped day hiking, day tour biking, day mountain biking, kayaking, sight seeing and shopping excursions. Two and three overnight guided backpacking hikes will be offered. Hiking will be on the Long Trail which in this area of Vermont is also the Appalachian Trail. Killington Peak will be one destination. The ski house can accommodate many guests comfortably, has a very large common room and commercial kitchen. Camping on grounds is also available. A celebratory dinner with entertainment and dancing to follow will occur on Saturday evening August 17. Biking, kayaking and hiking leaders needed.
