RIO OLYMPICS OVERVIEW Olympics are always an exciting time as we cheer on our favorite athletes and teams in global competitions. This year is no different. In fact, it is even a little extra special as we realize that we have several members of the Sacred Heart family competing in the upcoming Olympics in Rio. It is fun to celebrate our athletes and encourage them on, whether on websites, social media or in many other ways. From the Communications Department of the Province perspective, we are excited to share in this enthusiasm as well. With that being said, we do recognize that the Olympic Committee places strict controls over the use of their logos, marks, etc. They protect their marks, their brands very vigorously. The last thing we would want is for someone, some Sacred Heart member to get into trouble with the Olympic committee because they were unaware of the restrictions. So, we have developed some logos and marks that you could use as you cheer on the Olympians. These marks have an ability to be customized, so that you can reference your school, organization, a person, etc. as you support your athletes. These marks, while indicative of the Olympics, do not tread on the logos and marks of the Olympic Committee and are not in conflict with any of the parameters set out by the committee. One added advantage of these marks is that, as we use them together, it will make the Sacred Heart voice that much stronger. The consistent use of the core elements of the marks will reinforce how unified the Sacred Heart family truly is. LOGOS AND CREATIVE We have developed a few distinct marks for your use, if desired. One is designed for more general usage. There are some different words included so that you can use what works for you. The second series of marks can serve as a celebration should a Sacred Heart Olympian win a medal. GENERAL USAGE MARK This is the primary mark developed. The mark uses the colors of the Rio Olympics and the Sacred Heart logo in the year designation. We have the words Sacred Heart at the top for those not familiar with the Sacred Heart logo.
This mark can be used in social media or on websites as your school or organization cheers on our Sacred Heart Olympians. Recognizing that you may want to use your logo, add words of encouragement or share a photo of an athlete you are cheering on, we have created each mark with a line. We encourage you to use this format and apply your information to the right of the line as in this example below. An Example of a potential layout Anticipating that you may want to send out different messages, we have also crafted the mark with some different language. Again, we always include the mark as a stand alone or with a rule, should you like to communicate your organization or an individual in tandem with the mark. The other configurations include:

FONTS The font we are using is not identical to the Rio Olympic font which was a custom designed font, but is very close. In using this, we are capturing the spirit of the Rio games with a Sacred Heart twist. The font used is called Good Dog and can be used for free by downloading it from either of these links. https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/gooddog or http://www.dafont.com/good-dog.font A note to mention, if you decide to resize the marks for your usage be sure to hold the shift key down as you resize. That little trick will maintain the integrity of the design and the fonts as you resize the image. SECONDARY MARK Should one of your Olympic athletes win a medal, you may want to celebrate with them. To do that, we offer the following mark. You will see that it is available in Gold, Silver and Bronze so you can use the color of the medal they win in your communications. This mark can also be used by itself or it has a rule version so that you can have the picture of the athlete or the organization/school logo next to it. GOLD MEDAL WINNER
SILVER MEDAL WINNER BRONZE MEDAL WINNERS
TAGLINE The Olympic tagline this year is Higher, Faster, Stronger. You may see this tagline in many of the Olympic communications. Depending on what you are writing, if you want to add a Sacred Heart flare, we suggest you encourage Olympians by saying: Higher, Faster, Stronger with Heart SOCIAL MEDIA A big reason for providing these marks is because we know there will be so much activity on social media around the Olympics. Hashtags are an important way for connecting posts on similar topics. The hashtags we recommend for our Sacred Heart Olympians include: #SacredHeartOlympians #WeAreSacredHeart If every time you post something on the Olympics you use the #WeAreSacredHeart language we can collectively generate lots of enthusiasm for our Sacred Heart Olympians. Another item to mention is let us all try to like and share each other s posts, when possible. On Facebook, in particular, a post gets much more traction when we also comment. So, comment away, like away and share away.and let s help the world see what happens when the Sacred Heart family speaks with One Heart! We will be posting all of this information in our resource section of the RSCJ website. All the marks found here are available there in different formats for your use.
