January 2019 Issue 1, Volume 44 Dayton Wingmasters Talespins 2018 CHRISTMAS PARTY There were about 40 Wingmasters and Guests that attended the Club s 2018 Christmas Party. The event was held at Flyboys Deli at Fairfield Commons. The Deli s aeronautical theme was a perfect fit for the Christmas Party. See Pictures of the Party on Page 2 MIDWEST MODELRAMA ModelRama will take place on Saturday Feb 9th this year. If you would like to help assist the club in holding this event, get in touch with Jack Thompson. Modelrama is the Wingmasters largest fundraising activity, so please come help! Help is needed Friday Feb 8th at 5pm for setup and also on the 9th helping vendors find their spots and during the event, and helping with the auction as well. The Swap meet will be help at the nice and new Montgomery County Fairgrounds at 645 Infirmary Road. Doors open at 6:45 am to Vendors and 9 am to the public. 2018 Freeze Fly 2019 Freeze Fly 2019 FLYING SEASON holding a fun fly for the 2019 Flying season. Let Jack Book know and he can get the date reserved with the city. The club will be more than happy to cover any expenses for the fun fly. Some of the Fun flys coming up in 2019 are Warbirds Ducted Fans Giant Scale Gas Fun Fly FREEZE FLY 2019 About 35 Wingmasters showed up at the field for the 2019 Freeze Fly! The weather was awesome compared to 2018! Jack Book had the first mishap of 2019 and Marcko had the first water rescue of 2019! :) This was the biggest turnout for the freeze fly in years! Swap and Fly And Many more!! If you need help creating a flyer for your fun fly, get in touch with Joe Saylor or Jerry Humston and we would be more than willing to help put one together for you! Mr Organization, Gary Mooreman had all the membership packets neatly organized and sold new 2019 memberships during the gathering. Also the locks were switched over to the 2019 locks, so you will need to get a packet either at the club meetings or at RC Hobby or The Hobby Shop! 3
CLUB TRAINERS NEEDED! paying it forward and helping a new person learn the hobby. We are always in need of a few extra hands during trainer nights on Wednesday nights during the flying season. The club provides 2 Eflite Apprentice trainer planes that are very forgiving and make training students a joy! helping with trainer 2019 MOWING JOB COVERED BY DAVE FLINT The club would like to announce the Dave Flint has decided to take on the task of mowing the field in 2019. When Dave is mowing, please be aware that he may need to mow the area where your planes or your car is, so be helpful and keep the areas he needs to mow clear so he can get the job done quickly, he may want to fly while he s there! :) WANT TO SEE CHANGES OR UPDATES TO THE CLUB? If you have any ideas on what you would like to see at the field, or an idea on s direction you think the club should take. Come to the club meetings, they are the first Thursday of every month and in the winter months, they are held at the Wegerzyn Meeting room, and during the summer months they are held out at the flying field. 4
