PG 1 HOOSIER OPEN COACHES INFORMATION--FEB. 24, 2019 PLEASE READ AND PRINT ALL 5 pages as there is no coaches meeting LOCATION-- Portage High School 6250 US Highway 6 Portage 46368 Entrance Q CENTRAL time zone IMPORTANT TIMES: ------- **COMPETITION TIME------9am 4 pm **DOORS FOR ATHLETES & COACHES---8:15 am **DOORS FOR Spectators--- 8:30 am **REGISTERED BY---Thirty minutes before your warm up time (MUST BE REGISTERED BY THESE TIMES OR DISQUALIFIED) You don t have to have all of your team there to register Head Coach May just register **NO COACHES MEETING although there is no coaches meeting all answers Should be answered through this letter-also you may find Christy or ask a staff member or go to registration Coaches wristbands: ALL TEAMS coaches have to show Picture ID (drivers license state ID or USASF picture badge- to receive their wristbands-- one color will be for WARM UPS (that you have been approved to go into warm ups) ONLY coaches that were listed on registration will receive a wristband for warm ups. Any coaches not listed on registration will need to buy a spectator wristband ENTERING THE FLOOR: Announcer will say Dublin High please set up Your team will enter the floor and get set up (get into spots and pr ops etc..) Then he will say SILENCE PLEASE NOW PERFORMING DUBLIN HIGH That is when your time will start after the SILENCE announcement and after the first movement and or music---please wait for the SILENCE PLEASE announcement before starting Exiting and entering the floor You will enter by the sound engineer and EXIT THE SAME WAY YOU ENTERED ---YOU MAY SPIRIT IN- (when announcer tells you to Please Set Up ) BUT it must NOT be an organized entrance and may not take longer than 45 sec. --If you do take longer there will be a deduction You may yell-use spirit fingers- Punch wave but must be walking into your spots--- CHEER & DANCE PERFORMANCE MAT The SPRING FLOOR will measure (54x42) (9 rolls) Remember that there is no penalty for going out of bounds if it is not done continually Crossover -- As per our rules we make every attempt to schedule crossover performances (not only for all stars but also for specialty divisions) at least 20 minutes apart HOWEVER PRACTICE TIMES MAY CONFLICT anytime the floor is open you may practice

PG 2 CHEER & DANCE PRACTICE ***The warm up room is connected to the main gym NEW Please cheer teams you can not use full out voices or counts for practice also music will be pre set and volume can not be moved NEW There will be a small sound system in practice gym If you want to use music or not during warm ups-----you can use your ipod HOWEVER you are to bring a CD to warm ups also in case you cannot get the system to work You are responsible for playing your own music We will only have a staff member there to direct the teams to stations and time Even if you don t want to practice your whole team must still report to your warm up time and go through the stations ***WE ARE GOING TO BE STRICT WITH THIS----ONLY THE TEAM SCHEDULED TO PRACTICE WILL BE IN THE PRACTICE GYM AND THE APPROVED COACH--- We will have a staff member to enforce this rule ***There are (3) stations to warm up 1 st --2 panel and area to stretch 2 nd Spring Tumble strip 3 rd Full 9 panel mats 5 minutes at each station Having said that you must be by the practice gym door at least 15-20 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR PRACTICE TIME---Because we will be moving fast and may be AHEAD of the practice schedule and you need to be ready because we will move on EXTRA WARM UP TIME THE MAIN FLOOR any time there is a break Please use the honor system during these times-- give all teams a chance so limit your time to about 3 minutes each --- NEW ------ No teams should be in the practice gym when it is closed MUSIC & SOUND SYSTEM NO tapes--- bring (3) CD s because some CD s can t be read----please do not use a copied (burned) CD If your CD fails to work And you did not also bring a back up CD that falls back on you and YOU will NOT be able to perform again. REMEMBER DO NOT BRING A CD WITH MULTIPLE SONGS---IT WILL once again fall back on you if YOUR SONG IS NOT PLAYED CORRECT--IPODS and MP3 PLAYERS CAN be used HOWEVER please still bring a CD for back up SOUND SYSTEM We have a professional SOUND COMPANY and Sound Engineer--- EACH COACH EVEN ALL MUSIC ROUTINES ARE TO STAY BY THE SOUND ENGINEER HE WILL SHOW YOU WHERE THE START STOP BUTTONS are AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR START AND STOP---you may have a team helper do the music but be aware that they are responsible for your music IT IS MANDATORY that you test your music Anytime there is a break--please ONLY PLAY ABOUT 5 SECONDS OF IT SO THE OTHER TEAMS CAN HAVE A TURN---IF YOU ALSO HAVE INDIVIDUAL OR PARTNER STUNT DO THEIR SOUND WITH YOUR TEAM SOUND CHECK! After each coach does a sound check they will be checked of the schedule If you choose not to do the sound check you will NOT be able to perform again if something happens with your music

PG 3 HOOSIER OPEN COACHES INFORMATION FEB. 24, 2019 DANCE You will perform on 54 x 42 carpeted spring floor and warm up on 9 panel matts NEW----JUMP OFF CHEER & DANCE We are going back to the old way of conducting Jump off 1.) Register for Jump Off at Registration----$15 2.) Can only register for ONE session (all stars session #1 and Schools Session #2) Session #1 is for All star Athletes (Age you are as of Aug 31, 2018) Tiny 3yr-6yr Youth 7yr-11yr Junior 12yr-14yr Senior 15ys-18yr Session #2 is for Schools cheer/dance (Age you are as of Aug 31, 2018) Junior 11yr to 14 yr Senior 15 Yr -18 Yr 3.) ONLY TAKING FIRST 20 in each age-- Must be register by Session #1 @ 11:00 Session #2 @ 2:45 4.) Depending on number of competition we will put you in groups of 3-5 and you will do a toe touch and optional jump from those 3-5----- Judges will pick 1 to 2 to move on to the next round-- until we are down to 5 and they will place 1st thru? sometimes if there are only 2 to about 8 we will just place them Judges are looking for technique (pt toes--placement etc..) and height ---not just height! Sometimes for older groups they will ask you to do advance jumps as a double jump --pike etc.. GIRL / COED STUNT GROUP & COED PARTNER---We do not provide spotters- ---Your team must have one or two additional spotters on the sides of your stunts---they do not have to pay and they may not be hands on just ready and spotting-----also remember no cheer moves-motions-chants-cheers-dance moves-jumps tumbling---etc.. tumbling exception standing back flip or back walkover into cradle going into a stunt----only stunts or you will get a penalty ALL GIRL & COED STUNT GROUPS Stunt groups will receive placement medals for all members All Stars remember per USASF you are only to stunt to level 5 SCORE SHEETS Score sheets must be picked up by the HEAD COACH including ALL specialty divisions---coaches MUST SIGN THAT THEY HAVE PICKED SCORESHEETS UP. Where? Pick them up close to the Judges tables after the awards ceremony---you WILL ONLY HAVE 15 MINUTES TO PICK THEM---after 15 minutes after the session you will NOT be able to pick them up- You will have to phone MCD after and have them mailed to you or email your address otherwise they will not be mailed---- NEW FOOD : Since there will be no concession stand this year, Teams CAN BRING (small/medium) Coolers. Coolers must be stored in cars OR cafeteria you can NOT bring into gyms. (we are not responsible for coolers) There are vending machines with snacks and drinks -- SEATING can be found in the cafeteria -- ALSO WE WILL HAVE DIPPIN DOTS! SPIRIT TROPHY/Sportsmanship-: Our staff & judges will be watching for teams that show spirit for ALL teams and encourage your parents and team to bring signs We will award a Spirit trophy in each session CHEER - As per USASF rules & MCD Rules-- we do not separate into Sm & Lg unless there is at least 2 in that respective division STUNTING-BUILDING RULES Please make sure you printed out the building rules from the AACCA.org or All Star USASF.net -Please understand that we have our own rules for hair-jewelry-props-etc.----

PAGE 4 VERIFICATION OF PENALTY If you do receive a building or level penalty you will be asked to come to the Staff room and the Penalty Judge will go over the penalty with you-and then you will need to sign the penalty sheet AWARDS : If you are the only one in a division you will take first place with a trophy no banner and your score will be included for grand champion ***Must have competition for Paid bid to Nationals & Banner** However your score will be included for grand champion. And in the case you win Grand Champion then you would receive the PAID BID AND BANNER Session #1 (5) Grand champions (Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 PREP) Session #2 (1) Grand champions ( Overall for the whole session ) Specialty Divisions Each Athlete will receive a placement medal TEAMS will receive a placement trophy 1 st place (with competition) ----- If you will be attending our Nationals PAID BID FOR ALL ATHLETES ON TEAM (if payment has already been made it will be refunded) BANNERS-- Awarded to ALL TEAMS 2 teams in division (receive 1 st banner) 3-4 teams in division (receive 1 st and 2 nd banner) 5 times (receive 1 st,2 nd and 3 rd ) GRAND CHAMPION-- All Teams Will receive a BANNER no trophy EACH Athlete-- will receive a medal and will be at Registration PARTICIPANT MEDALS ONLY TEAM MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE PARTICIPANT MEDALS If you are in a Specialty division in addition to competing on a team you will ONLY RECEIVE a participant Medal for the team- THESE MEDALS WILL BE PICKED UP AT REGISTRATION BY COACH When they register--- then you will distribute them to your athletes before the Victory Run--- See schedule COACHES HELPING TEAMS As stated in our rules TINY-MINI-YOUTH Coaches are the ONLY coaches that may assist if needed! ONE Coach may sit in front (there will be an X on the floor) Only one coach-- other coaches fell free to sit to the far left and far right (there will be an area taped off on floor------if we see any other coaches (from Jr-Sr) assisting there will be a penalty SPORTMANSHIP PENALTY- Please remind your parents to be an example to our children and most of all have fun! Please no one is to walk in front of the judges table T-SHIRTS- We have hired a professional ONSITE company they have our Hoosier Logo and are able to put it on any apparel (t-shirts-hoodies-shortssweaters etc..) A LIST OF THE TEAM NAMES on the back SPECTATOR INFO LETTER: Print off the website---please copy & hand out

Or refer your parents to our website PG 5 **NEW**You CAN video But no tri pods and no standing blocking views CLASSIC Photography will be our photographer they will be taking ACTION shots that teams can view on laptops immediately after they perform AND please make sure that you take TEAM photos right before you perform (you are not obligated to buy) But you will want to once you see their work! Photography is allowed MEDICAL STAFF We do have medical staff for medical emergencies The Athletic Trainer will primarily be in the GYM or practice gym----we do not provide wrap for wrists etc..if you can t find her go to Registration table and ask Or a staff member they can radio/phone her VICTORY RUN -On the schedule when it says go get ready for the Victory run ALL coaches and the entire team should go to ON DECK are by Sound and Divider and put their medals on each athlete (the medals that were given to you at registration) then- Our announcer will announce each team---the team will then spirit in on the floor and do the Victory Run BUT don t take too long ---WHAT DO WE MEAN? Some suggestions WE WANT YOU TO HAVE FUN and GET THE CROWD GOING!!! Maybe you all bought event t-shirts come out with them---maybe you have a MASCOT come out with it and get the crowd going---bring a good luck banner that you fly at your home games Plan an organized entrance DANCE teams show us some funky attitude!!! Maybe you all have some special chant you do at every game etc LET your parents in on it so they can help you in the stands!!!! BE ORIGINAL AND HAVE FUN---IT IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE!! WHEN you are done spiriting Do NOT sit on the spring floor -Take a seat with your team Around the spring floor on the gym floor
