Minor Hurling League Semi Final. Valley Rovers minor hurlers played Aghada in the premier 2 hurling league semi final in Brinny today Sunday October 25th at 2 pm. On the day Valley s were the better team running out easy winners on a score of Valley s Rovers 6-19 to Aghada 14 points. This now sets us up for a league final with St Colmans who won the premier 2 championship this year and who also qualified for the league final with a comprehensive win over Inniscarra in the other semi final.the only disappointing thing on the day was the sending off of Eoin Burke which leaves him a doubt for the final. Eoin has being playing great hurling this year and will be a loss if missing for the final.this Semi final win was built around another outstanding display from Chris O Leary who scored 3.05 from play. Other scorers on the day were Aaron Lyons with 1.1, Colm Butler with 1.5, Rory O Sullivan 1.2, Sean O Regan 4 points and Dan Sweetnam and Thomas Sweetnam 1 point each. Under 14 Hurling Valleys U14's travelled to Na Piarsigh on Saturday to contest their annual Pat Kelleher hurling tournament. First up for valleys was Naobh Barrog from Dublin. Valleys started brightly and led on a score line of 0-8 to 0-1. Naobh Barrog took the game to Valleys in the second half but Valleys held out to win on a score line of 0-12 to 2-3. the start and Valleys led 1-4 to 1-2 at half time. The game remained in the balance when Fr O'Neills got dubious goal but Valleys held out to win 1-8 to 1-5 with centre forward Cathal O'Sullivan getting all Valleys scores. Last in the round robin series were hosts Na Piarsigh. This was another tight affair with Valleys leading by two points at half time. The second half was to and fro for the 20 mins and Na Piarsigh held out for a narrow win 0-7 to 0-6. Valleys had to wait until the onclusion of the other game to see if they qualified for the final. Valleys and Na Piarsigh both qualified for the final and another close game occurred. Na Piarsigh started brightly and led 0-4 to 0-1 after 10 mins but Valleys finished the half strongly out scoring their opponents by 2-2 with goals from Darragh O'Shea and Cian Crowley. As in the previous game Na Piarsigh came back and the scores were level with four minutes to go. Valleys finished very strongly with goals from Eoin Nash and two from Darragh O'Shea to win on a score line of 5-3 to 0-9. Valleys had some outstanding performances over the 2.5 hours of game time with Darragh Keane outstanding in goal (saving a penalty against Fr O'Neills), Adam Kenneally at centre back, captain Cormac Kilduff led by example at midfield and forwards Cathal O'Sullivan, Cian Crowley and Darragh O'Shea contributing handsomely to the scoreline. This was a great day out as we played all our U14's on the age and all 20 players (missing two through injury) getting valuable game time and everyone contributing to a great win. Next weekend we will be holding our annual U14 Jake O'Donoghue football tournament in Brinny on Sunday.
