Valley Rovers Senior Players Fundraiser The Senior Players of Valley Rovers are running a fundraiser centred around the upcoming Cheltenam Horse Racing Festival (starting on the 13th March). We would greatly appreciate your support. Daily and Overall prizes on offer of up to 2,000 as well as prizes for top clubs. Tickets cost 20 with at least 10 of this going straight back to the players fund. Tickets are available to buy in Centra Innishannon, Johnny Crowleys, Barretts Bar Innishannon, Twohigs Bar, The Crossbarry Inn and from all senior players. How it works: - Buy a ticket - We will register you online before the festival starts -Select 1 horse per race for the first 4 races for each day of the festival - Pick your horse number and have your ticket number available - Enter your selection either online, by phone, text message, or by email by 12pm on each day of racing (contact details will be on your ticket) - PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ONLY NEED A PIN NUMBER IF YOU WANT TO PLAY ONLINE (this will be sent to you once we register you as a player) How to score points: - 1st Place = 21 points - 2nd Place = 11 points - 3rd Place = 5 points - 4th Place = 3 points DOUBLE POINTS FOR THE FIRST RACE OF THE DAY e e e s 33 3 All Valley Rovers pitches are closed until Wednesday 7 th March at the earliest. The following report appeared in the Evening Echo this week Saturday night fever Hits Valleys John Bohane reports Valleys are anticipating a hugely entertaining night of dance and craic. He reports that according to organising committee member Rebecca Slyne there will be 16 couples dancing on the night and that they have been training 2 nights a week for the past 3 months. Three judges have been lined up, Sarah Callanan a dance teacher from Innishannon Rachel Walsh Murphy a d m e m n e e he m C ssb nd s h e he Ch s O D n v n Rebecca has been delighted with the ticket sales for the event. Tickets flew out the door and already 700 tickets sold. Rebec ev s g n sed s even he b nd s j ned n h s e s h dw k ng committee by Michele Rohu, Petra Hendrix, Therese Kiely, Mary Crenin and club chairman Willie Glavin. The money raised from Strictly Valleys is vital for the continued progression of the club, which caters for a huge array of adult players both male and female as well as juvenile club. It is also vital for the development of club GAA grounds in the Bleach in Innishannon and Brinny. Page 3 of 6

Cork Camogie Club Championship Fixtures 2018 At the County Board meeting of Monday March 5th, 2018 the fixtures were made for the Cork Camogie Championships 2018. One of the great prizes on the night of Strickly, A Signed Cork Jersey by the Senior Hurling team to be won. Thanks to Chris o Leary for organizing this great prize. Valley Rovers Camogie Club appeared in the draw for the first time ever and will take on Killeagh in their first ever Senior game. We wish them luck in the year ahead. The draw in full is: A. Valley Rovers History Valley Rovers are in the process of gathering information with the view of recording the History of Gaelic games in the parish in a book. This project is covering all aspects of Gaelic games, be it Hurling Football, Camogie and Ladies Football. We need your Help!! If you have any memorabilia, pictures, old medals, old minute books in your procession, old AGM reports etc or equally important, any historical information we would greatly appreciate if you would share it with us. We have set up an email address valleyrovershistory@gmail.com that you can email any items. Also we will be in Innishannon Hall on a date to be confirmed shortly, where people can come and bring interesting items and we will scan them and you can take your items home again. If someone has many items and they want us to come to your house to copy them that can be arranged also. All information is welcome and we will endeavor to include as many items as possible.
