ST COLUMBA S CATHOLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Term 3 - Week 5 Principal's Message : Welcome back to Week 5 of Term 3! We have started this week with a number of teams completing their speech presentations; well done to all those children who have reached the finals. The presentation of our speech finalists will be held this coming Wednesday night, 29th August at 7pm in Te Manawa (our school hall). This is for Teams 2, 3 & 4. Next Thursday morning we will be celebrating our lads and dads. All SCCS dads and boys are invited to join me for breakfast at 7:30 am (finished by 8.30am in time for you to head to work). Don t forget to mark it on your calendar, Thursday, 30th August. The PTFA have generously offered to sponsor the breakfast which will be held in Te Manawa. Te Kura O Hato Karama Mr Chris May from Kauri Class, will be leaving us at the end of Term 3. Chris has been a valued member of staff at SCCS for almost 0 years. We thank Chris for his work in support of ICT in the school as well as running our Boys Programme, Nga Tama Toa. Chris has been successful in winning a promotion and will take up the Principal's position at Tauhei School, commencing Term 4. We wish Chris every success in his new role. Tomorrow is our annual Cross Country event for Teams 2, 3 and 4. The children have been training to build fitness and stamina in order to be the best they can be on the day. The Cross Country will be held at Hamilton Lake with the children travelling by bus (see the notice sent home for more detailed information). Please support us by encouraging your children to persevere and do their very best. We invite you all to come along and watch the children run, lets all keep our fingers crossed for good weather. Please remind children to pack dry

clothes to change into after their run. The approximate running times are noted below: - am - Team 2 - :45am - Team 3-2:45pm - Team 4 Keep in mind there will be some flexibility with age group start times. Mikaela gained several placings. Floor 4th=, Vault 4th=, Beam 4th, Bar 3rd and an overall 3rd place. This is an excellent lead up for Mikaela to the Aims Games later this Term. She has also been selected to represent Waikato in the Women's Artistic Gymnastics at the New Zealand National Gymnastics Championships in October.
