Bassai Dae IL Soo Sik Dae Ryun: (One Step Sparring Defender Beginning in Jun Be Ja Seh) 1. Step out right leg right side in front stance. Left hand Soo Do Block attackers punch and Right hand center punch, both at the same time. Pull right leg behind you and left leg front kick to attacker s ribs. 2. Step out left leg left side in front stance. Right Hand soo do block attackers punch and left hand center punch followed by right hand center punch to attacker s ribs. Right leg roundhouse kick to attacker s chest. 3. Right leg steps back into back stance. Left hand soo do block attackers punch. Left hand grabs attacker s wrist and twist their arm upward so that their palm is facing the ceiling. Left leg front kick to attacker s ribs and throw their hand to the right. Followed by center punch to attacker s ribs. Right leg performs spinning back kick also to attacker s ribs. 4. Step out right leg right side in front stance. Left hand soo do block attacker s punch. Rotate hips right hand center punch attacker in chest. Right hand grabs attacker s punch hand and right leg side kick to attacker s ribs. 5. Left leg outside/inside kick to attacker s punch. Left leg is front leg in front stance. Right hand reverse punch. Right leg side kick to attacker s chest. 6. Hop out left side on left leg. Right leg inside/outside kick to attacker s arm. Left hand reverse punch followed by left leg inside/outside kick. Jump front kick to attacker s head. 7. Hop out left side on left leg. Right hand grabs attacker s punch arm followed by right leg roundhouse kick to attacker s chest. Set right leg down on left side of attacker and follow up with left leg short spinning back kick to attacker s chest. 8. As attacker punches, left leg side kick to attacker s ribs. Right leg spinning back kick followed by jump hook kick to attacker s head. 9. Step out Right leg forward into front stance, left hand high block attacker s first punch. Right hand high blocks attacker s second punch. Left hand reverse punch attacker head level and grab attacker s shoulders followed by knee strike to attacker s chest. As knee returns into front foot front stance push attacker back and follow up spinning wheel kick.

10. Right foot steps back into front stance low x-block (with fists) to attacker s front kick. Pull attacker s front kick leg back to your right side. Right hand soo do block attacker s back fist attack and grab attacker s wrist. Right leg inside/outside kick attacker s punching arm, left hand reverse punch attacker head level. Left leg (back leg) outside/inside kick to attacker head level. Jump turn inside/outside kick right leg to attacker head level. Ho Sin Sool: (Self-Defense) 1. Hair Attack Both hands grab attacker s wrist and hand bending it back to attacker s head and pull their arm to the floor so defender has one knee on the floor. Right hand reverse punch to attacker s head. 2. Double Lapel Attack Defender grabs attacker s right wrist and left wrist with their right and left hand. Both hand s knuckles should be facing each other on inside of grab. Rotate hands outward, inverting attacker s arms. Right leg front kick to attacker s chest, set right leg down in front of you and to the left side of attacker. Grab attacker s arms and rotate hips throwing attacker to the left of defender. Kneel and punch attacker in head. 3. Bear Hug Attack Right foot stomp left foot stomp. Drop stance down with superman arm motion upward. Left elbow strike to left side attacker s ribs followed by right elbow strike to right side attacker s ribs. Right Hand slides up and under attackers right arm to wrap around and grab shoulder. Left hand grabs attacker s right wrist. Drop hip level down and into attacker behind you with a throwing motion of upper body, throwing attacker to ground. 4. Straight Across Wrist Attack Defender points down, point out, point up with hand that is being grabbed. Opposite hand or free hand comes up to place attacker in arm bar wrist lock. Right leg performs front kick to attacker s ribs. 5. Cross Wrist Grab Defender points down and then to opposite side of body that is being attacked with a circle motion of wrist the opposite leg of the side of wrist being attacked steps forward. Wrap attacker s arm around your waist and vertical elbow strike to attacker s center of back. Left leg swipes back and away from attacker in a half circle motion as both hands pull attacker s wrist and arm upward and in same direction as foot movement. Ending result will have attacker on their back to left side of defender follow up with left leg downward side kick to attacker s chest. 6. Behind Under Arm Attack Right foot stomp left foot stomp. Elbow strike followed by groin strike behind you to attacker. Reach down and pull attacker s right foot up and out from underneath of him. Turn left leg side kick to attacker s chest.

7. Double Hand Shoulder Attack Left hand straight upward movement and turnaround from left side facing attacker. Right hand wraps around attacker s head/neck as right leg steps through between defender and attacker to outside and finish with throw of attacker to ground. 8. Single Shoulder Side Attack Left arm or right arm, depending on attacker s shoulder grab. Point grabbed shoulder side hand down, forward, upward, and around behind attackers arm. Defender will lock in attacker s arm by pressing upward with fist on attacker s elbow. Follow up defense with side fist strike to attacker s center chest. 9. Behind Double Arm Attack Right leg steps out right side into horse stance. Left arm swings outward to left side. Right hand moves in a downward to upward circle motion up and around head to down in front of you. Both arms push attacker out and away to left side. 10. From Ground Level Head Lock Attack Defender when being attacked from right side look right, to relieve pressure on neck. Right arm elbow strike right hand groin strike as combination. Right hand stretches out to right side between attacker s right arm and right leg as you sit on left hip and reach right hand upward and around to defender s original left side. As you turn and roll to defender s original left side attacker will be on their back, follow up with right arm vertical elbow strike to attacker s center chest. Bong Hyung: 1. Bong Hyung Il Bu (Bo Form 1) --- All Dan Ranks 2. Bong Hyung E Bu (Bo Form 2) --- All Dan Ranks 3. Bong Hyung Sam Bu (Bo Form 3) --- All Dan Ranks 4. Cha Yu Dae Ryun: 1 vs. 1 2 vs. 1 Cardio: 120 Center Punches from Kee Ma Ja Seh within 30 Seconds 35 Front Kicks in 25 Seconds (Left Leg) 35 Front Kicks in 25 Seconds (Right Leg) ESSAY: A three page essay will be required and must be turned in no later than the test date at 10 A.M. The topic of the essay will be: How Tang Soo Do applies to everyday life. How being a black belt has me responsible. My commitment to being a black belt. Additional Information: ** Written Terminology Test will be administered at the beginning of the test** **Testing will be completed upon the student demonstrating instruction capabilities with their Hu Baes**

**Prior to the start of testing black belt candidates will turn in their three page essay and their log sheet of instruction hours** **Six boards per black belt class will be needed. Breaking wood on a regular basis will help to ensure success as well as a flawless breaking performance on testing day. The board size recommended is 1 x 9 x 12 the wood preferred for breaking purposes is white pine** GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! You have worked extremely hard for this day and all the instructors are very proud of you. Once you receive the rank of 1 st Dan Black Belt the doors of martial arts and Tang Soo Do will open for many possibilities and opportunities. All of your junior ranking members will look to as a leader seeking guidance and motivation and we wish to see you continue to train hard and teach them the way you have been taught. Remember the rank of black belt is the end of your first chapter in Tang Soo Do training but the beginning of a new chapter of which you will begin to truly understand martial arts and establish your path of life both inside and outside of the Do Jang.
