MSC Newsletter November 2007 Dedicated to fishing in and around Collier County www.marcosportfishingclub.com Peter Arcidiacono, President 394-1136 peterarchie@comcast.net BLUE TEAM VICTORIOUS AT 2 nd ANNUAL SOMETHING 2 FISHY The President s Message: Sorry to say, the DREAM TEAM of Jim Mueller and Newt Weiss has been uprooted at the fishing tournament by a couple of pirates: Ed Vesely and Bert Hoell. Ed and Bert brought in the most points after the two days of fishing. The points represented the total number of inches of Redfish caught. That led the blue team to a victory at the 2 nd annual S o m e t h i n g 2 f i s h y t o u r n a m e n t. CONGRATULATIONS BLUE TEAM! I thank Seaweed and the rest of the committee for work on this project. It wasn t easy. Also, our Awards Picnic was terrific thanks to Tim and Joan Kenny and their committee. The gourmet hot dogs and hamburgers were perfect and lets not forget the prizes. There were over 70 different items that were awarded to people whether not they were an angler. It would be unjust not to thank the local businesses for their generosity. Without their contributions we never could have pulled it off. Please take a moment and visit our website. Under the Friends of MSC page you will see names of those who participated. Don t be shy. Stop in their stores and thank them. They deserve it! One last comment on the tournament. Please send us your comments regarding any part of that event. Good, bad or indifferent. We need to know if this event should be continued and if we are on the right track with activities. As this year winds down, we start to gear up for the coming season. First is this. We are always looking for members to get involved either on the board or just to help out from time to time. It s not too late let us know if you are interested. I am looking forward to seeing everyone come back and having some terrific outings and picnics. Remember, be nice to your -2- shrimp and they will be nice to you. See ya at the bait shop. Pete A The new dues proposal is: $40 per year for family membership $10 one time charge for new members for setup $10 DISCOUNT should the member choose to receive the newsletter online Every family membership will be entitled to ONE vote per family

SEE FLYER Wed Dec 19 Dave Walsh Backwater fishing Tue Dec 11 Ed Vesely Gulf fishing Thu Dec 20 Al Musico A Special Note to MSC Members Regarding Dues We, your Board of Directors, believe that dues need to be raised because: # Within the last four years, our cost for a meeting place has risen to $500 per year from 0. # To solve delivery problems, we switched to first class mail from bulk rate. Since that change, rates have been increased twice. # Of the current $25 dues $23 goes to The MSC Newsletter, insurance, and meeting room. $2 is eaten up by incidentals, awards, name-tags and tickets. The Rule of Thumb used by many clubs is to have one year of expenses in reserve. We have only about half. Our annual expenses for 2006 were $13,800. To improve our financial condition, the board has proposed the change in the dues structure outlined in the Presidents Message. -3-
