November 1, 2016 Dear Company Representatives: In the summer of 2018, from June 28 to July 4, 2018, the Eastern U.S. Region of the International Central Committee of Vietnamese Scouting will host a very special event: Thang Tien XI, the 11 th International Jamboree of Vietnamese Scouting. This week-long Jamboree will be held at Camp William B. Snyder in Haymarket, Virginia with the Boy Scouts of America, National Capital Area Council and the Girl Scouts of the USA as co-hosts. This unique event is an excellent opportunity to increase your company s public exposure internationally and locally to Asian-Americans, the fastest growing population of any race group in the United States according to the 2010 U.S. Census, and specifically to over 1.8 million Vietnamese-Americans living across the U.S. Thang Tien Jamboree is a beautiful tradition that has been supported by many organizations worldwide. Every three to four years since 1985, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Vietnamese descent from all corners of the globe gather to celebrate their culture and heritage and to strengthen the bond of Scouting. Each Thang Tien Jamboree had been hosted at a different city around the world. Now, after exactly 20 years, the Jamboree has returned to our Nation s Capital. The 6 th International Jamboree of Vietnamese Scouting was held in 1998 at Lake Fairfax Park, Reston, Virginia. The mission of the Jamboree is to promote youth leadership, character development, and social service through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law. With the theme of Strengthen Our Bond & Set New Record, Thang Tien XI will recognize the outstanding achievements of Vietnamese youths and adults who have made a difference in the world and who have set new records and standards for others to follow. Planned events at Thang Tien XI include outdoor camping, campfire, skills competitions, high adventure activities, cultural workshops, STEM workshops, a multi-cultural festival and many fun Scouting activities. Public exposure is at an international level. In addition to the gathering of more than 1,600 Vietnamese Scouts from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia, Thang Tien XI will draw thousands of visitors from throughout the Eastern U.S., from Boston, through Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. to Florida, across the United States, from California, Texas, and all over the world, especially at the multi-cultural festival on the opening day of June 29, 2018. To date, Thang Tien Jamborees have gathered over 10,700 campers and over 2,300 staff. Media coverage will include local, national and international television and radio stations, magazines and newspapers, in addition to Thang Tien XI periodic newsletters and its official website, attracting followers locally and worldwide from now through 2018. The last Jamboree, Thang Tien X, attracted over 2.4 million visitors to its website alone.
