CELEBRATING 17 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Tampa Bay Chapter- American Singles Golf Association April 2010 Golf Committee THREE PINK BALLS WIN AT PLANTATION PALMS On Sunday, March 7, 28 ASGA golfers (7 foursomes) teed off the first hole at the beautiful Plantation Palms golf course in Land O Lakes with one pink ball per foursome. (To this day I m confounded why one of the male players asked why we weren t using blue balls. okay.) The format was to see which team(s) would return to the club house after 18 holes with their pink ball, playing a scramble format where the pink ball was rotated on every hole among the four players. Surprisingly three teams managed to not lose pinky throughout the tough course. The other four teams lost pinky somewhere between holes 2 10. The pressure for them was then off and they could relax and enjoy the game more. Dinner was provided in the club house afterward. The top two teams had a tying score of 71 and the winner was determined by a scorecard playoff. In first place were Ken Polkoszek, Phyllis Johnson, Larry Klotz and Beverly Houghton. They received Plantation Palms golf shirts (nice gift!). The second place team was Mark Little, Gay Wiese, Bill Boyd and Frances Panico. The third place team with a score of 77 was John Greene, When What Where Sat., April 10 Casual Golf 12:30 p.m. Airco; Clearwater Sun., April 25 Golf Outing 1 p.m. Wentworth; Tarpon Springs Sat. It must be Spring because Spring Training is over and we are planning a "regular season" baseball outing (with a band of course). It must be Spring, Transitions Golf Tournament at Innisbrook is done and The Outback Tournament at TPC is around the corner (and we have had members volunteering at each). It must be Spring. It must be Spring. It must be Spring! OK, Dorothy, click those red shoes... The golf and social committees are hard at work planning for the rest of the When What Where Sat, May 29 Rays Game & Concert, 7:10 p.m. Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg year. Its exciting; it must be Spring. Did you remember to bring a guest to the next meeting or the next golf or social outing? You should because: It's Springtime! See ya on the course...
