Raider Scoop August 22 August 27, 2011 Welcome Back! Things seem to have gotten off to a positive start, Mrs. Clark said, I m glad to see so much Warren East pride being displayed by so many students. She has kicked off the 2011-2012 school year with an uplifting, productive attitude. Mr. Tabor is also focused on the confidence WE should all have in our school: With many sports beginning soon or already going on, there is sure to be lots of Warren East pride charging through the halls soon enough. On the eve of this school year, anxiety was high and excitement for a fresh start was in the air. As each teacher, faculty member, and student crossed the threshold of the Warren East doors, WE became a team, a family. Throughout this year s upcoming ups and downs, WE must stand by our family, support our team and stand together in Warren East P.R.I.D.E. They had 14 Athlete of the Week Hannah Turner Lady Raider Golf tremendous leaders that look forward to the leadership roles they will take on in FFA. Our chapter won the water ball contest, Ben Connor was recognized as an outstanding leader for the week, and Amber Watts won the FFA quiz contest. - Raider Golf received 13th place out of 19 teams and Brett Beckham shot a 78 on August 13. - Lady Raiders Volleyball played Franklin Simpson on August 9 and won all games. They also went 2-3 in the Apollo Shoot Out. - Lady Raiders Soccer Team opened their preseason with a bang Monday night beating Logan County 5-3 in their preseason scrimmage. - Raider Soccer played a great first half and Chris Herrera and Pablo Olvera led the team in the scrimmage on August 13. - On August 12, the football team dominated the scrimmage against Grayson County and showed great effort on the field. The Muhlenberg County Invitational was memorable for Warren East High School. The athlete of the week, Hannah Turner, speaks of her accomplishment, I m glad I broke the school individual record and shot a 75 because it s something I have never done before. Hannah is putting it lightly when she says it s something she has never done; it s something no one has ever done Warren East. Although she lost the play-off for first place by one stroke, a big congratulations goes out to her. Hannah thanks her dad for inspiring her to play golf, as she enters her third year playing.
