Build your own show! Extra TBA slots have been included to allow exhibitors to add the classes they want. The winner of a TBA Championship in which the silver buckle fee is paid will receive their buckle at the show if stock allows; if not it will be mailed to recipient. TBA classes will be announced prior to the beginning of the show and posted in the show office and on the SAAHA FaceBook page as added. No post entry penalty to enter TBA classes but normal class fees do apply. If these classes are not filled, the class number will be canceled and the next class will begin immediately. If a TBA time slot is added after the prize list has been published, there is an additional AHA fee of 30.00 per class, in addition to the other fees. Please contact the Show Secretary if you would like to sponsor a TBA class. Show Management reserves the right to change the designation of a TBA class in the interest of the flow of the show schedule. ADMISSION TO THE RING: No person shall be permitted to enter the ring except participants in the class, judge, their assistants and show officials. Attendants and grooms may enter the ring only when summoned by order of the judge. In all classes requiring attendants in the ring, proper attire is required. AGE OF HORSE: For horse show purposes any horse shall be considered to be one year of age on the first day of January following the actual date of foaling. A Junior Horse is 5 years old or younger. AHA ACHIEVEMENT AWARD POINTS: This show is recognized by the Arabian Horse Association (AHA), enabling exhibitors to receive Achievement Award Points in all qualifying classes, providing the USEF has approved the Arabian or Half Arabian/Anglo Arabian Division as a Recognized Competition. This show is a Recognized Competition by USEF. GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES OF THE SHOW AMATEUR OWNER/JUNIOR OWNER TO RIDE CLASSES: An Owner s class is one in which every contestant is a Junior/Amateur and the rider/handler is the Owner or an Amateur/Junior member of the Owner s family (see USEF 1306 & 1307). Combined ownership is NOT permitted in Junior/Owner classes unless all owners are members of the same family. LEASED horses are NOT eligible for Junior/Owner to Ride/Drive/Handle Classes. ARENAS: MAIN BARN ARENA is indoors; 117ft x 250ft; footing is topsoil & sand mix over natural base. RAMADA ARENA is an open air, covered arena; 116ft x 200ft; footing is topsoil & sand mix over natural base. NORTH ARENAS are outside; 275ft x 150ft; topsoil & sand mix over natural base. SOUTH ARENAS, Ring 1 & 4, are outside arenas; footing is sand on a crushed marble base. Lunging is not allowed in any of the show or warm-up arenas. Lunging locations are in an arena on the north side of the barn and an arena west of the reining arena. AWARDS & TROPHIES Ribbons (all classes) Open/Amateur 1 st through 6 th Junior 1 st through 8 th AHA Equitation Medal Classes will receive a Medal to 1 st ; ribbons 1 through 8 th Silver Buckles Silver Buckles are presented to all Champions except Halter & Sport Horse In-Hand, which will receive a show trophy. In order to be awarded a Silver Buckle an exhibitor must beat at least one other horse. For those classes with only one entry, the Champion has the option to purchase a buckle for 100 or receive a show trophy. Walk/Trot JTR 10 & Under Champions: one Silver Buckle will be awarded for the high point Western Rider and one buckle will be awarded for the high point English Rider. If the sponsor of a TBA Championship pays the 100.00 sponsorship fee, the winner of that Championship will receive a Silver Buckle which will be awarded at the show if stock allows; if not they will be mailed to recipient. Trophies will be awarded to Halter, Sport Horse In-Hand & Walk/Trot 10 & Under Champions. BIKES & MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Minors must wear safety helmets when riding bicycles per AZ State Law. In accordance with USEF GR 901.29: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the completion grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. BARN RULES: NO SMOKING IN THE BARN AREA. Only manure to be placed in areas designated, violators caught placing anything other than manure and shavings in designated areas will be fined according to USEF rules. CANCELLATION OR SUBSTITUTION OF ENTRIES: To encourage early entries, the management agrees to cancel and refund entry fees on any horse not fit to show providing written notice and a veterinary certificate are given to the Show Secretary by August 31, 2017. Cancellation of entries after this date, for any reason, shall forfeit all fees at the decision of the Show Committee. Request for refund must be submitted to the show office before the end of the show and must include a letter from a veterinarian. Substitution of horses will be permitted in accordance with USEF GR 911 and GR 912. CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING CLASSES: To enter a Championship Class you must have entered, shown and been judged in the Qualifying Class. Qualifying classes are listed in the Class Details. CLASS CALLS: Due to unforeseeable problems with any mechanical device, the PA system, paddock and barn calls must be considered a courtesy. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be sure that his/her horse is at the gate at the prescribed time. Every effort will be made to maintain a working PA system to carry class calls; however, no protest will be upheld, nor will any class be changed on the basis of PA malfunction alone. GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES OF THE SHOW COMMERCIAL VENDORS: Fees are 45 per day with electrical hookup and 30 a day without. Trailer and tent space will be 60 a day. Set up may begin on Thursday, September 7, 2017 and must be removed no later than Monday, September 11, 2017. Security is the vendor s responsibility; SAAHA will not be responsible for merchandise left on the grounds. Space location will be determined by show management, contact Randi Preiser (520) 240-0124 to make reservations. COPIES OF AHA COMPETITION & USEF MEMBERSHIP CARDS: Owners, Trainers, Handlers and Riders must provide a copy of their current AHA Competition and USEF membership cards with their entry forms, or pay AHA Single Event Fee or USEF Show Pass if applicable. USEF Amateur certification is required for all amateur classes. DOGS: Pima County and the Southwest Fair Commission require dogs to be on a leash at all times. Loose dogs may be detained by Fairground personnel and owners charged a fine. Owners are also expected to clean-up after dogs; supplies are provided throughout the Fairgrounds. DISCIPLINE: Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials of this show on the part of the owner, exhibitor, agent, trainer, groom, rider, handler or family of the above, will disqualify the horse from adjudication. The management reserves the right to remove a horse, owner exhibitor, agent, trainer, groom, rider or handler from the show without being liable for compensation or damage. Any action(s) against a horse by an exhibitor, which are deemed excessive by a judge, USEF Steward or show veterinarian in the show ring or anywhere on the competition grounds may be punished by official warning, elimination or other sanctions which may be deemed appropriate by the Show Commission. Such action(s) could include, but are not limited to, excessive use of whips, spurs or bamboo poles. DIRECTIONS TO PIMA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS: 11300 S Houghton Road, Tucson AZ. Exit Interstate 10 (I-10) at Houghton Road. Drive South on Houghton to Brekke Road. At Brekke Rd turn right. Follow the road until you see the Pima County Fairgrounds entrance on the left and turn in. Follow the road to the covered arena. Show office located on the south side of the arena building. DISQUALIFICATION: Refer to current USEF Rule Book. Any horse doctored in any way, i.e. artificially, improperly or unfairly prepared or tampered with before entering the show arena will be disqualified. If it is ascertained that any exhibitor has made, or caused to be made, any false statement in regard to any animal or article exhibited, or if any exhibitor shall attempt to interfere with the judges in the performance of their duties, he or she shall be excluded from competing or exhibiting. In the case of any animal being disqualified, the winner of the next succeeding prize in the class shall take the prize that has been awarded to such disqualified animal, and the lowest money prize in the class shall go to the reserve number. DRUGS & MEDICATIONS: The drugs and medication rules contained in the current USEF rulebook will be enforced. All horses entered in this competition will be charged a drug fee per horse to defray the expenses of drug testing. GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES OF THE SHOW ENTRIES: Entries must be submitted on the official entry form for this show (photocopies both sides required are accepted). Please type or print legibly. Additional forms can be requested from the show secretary or downloaded from www.saaha.org. All horses belonging to one owner must be on one entry form (additional entry sheets may be attached). No horse may be entered on more than one entry form. The complete name and address of the registered owner must appear in the Owner space. If a farm name is used as Owner, the farm must have an AHA Farm/Ranch membership and a USEF farm certificate, be listed as the owner on the horse s registration papers and that Farm/Ranch membership number must be used as the Owner AHA number. A copy of the Farm/Ranch membership card must accompany the entry. The USEF certificate number must be used as the owner USEF number and a copy of the certificate must accompany the entry. Owner (or agent), trainer and all riders/handlers must sign entry form (adult signatures only) in the spaces provided and provide addresses, telephone numbers where requested. If the owner is the trainer, owner must sign on both owner and trainer spaces. (Trainer is any adult who has the responsibility for the care, training, custody or performance of a horse. ) Junior exhibitor s name, address and birth date must appear on the entry form along with parent s/guardians signature in the appropriate area on the back of the entry form for each junior exhibiting in the show. Points are tracked on a rider/horse pair. Points are based upon the number of placings awarded for a class, i.e.: 1 st in a 6 place class will receive 6 points, 2 nd 5 points, etc. If less than 6 horses are placed, the points will be awarded based on the number of ribbons distributed for that class. GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES OF THE SHOW IDENTIFICATION NUMBER: Every horse entered in the show will be assigned an identification number. It is important for the proper handling of the show that correct numbers be worn by the riders and handlers in all classes. INDEMNITY AND NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE: All entries are accepted with the understanding that the Southern Arizona Arabian Horse Association, Arabian Horse Association, Pima County Fairgrounds, and all employees and volunteers will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury to horse exhibited or any article of any kind. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Committee; but solely at the risk of the Exhibitor, who will be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or property occasioned by him/her, his/her gents or employees, or any animal owned or exhibited by him/her and shall indemnify the Southern Arizona Arabian Horse Association, Arabian Horse Association, Pima County Fairgrounds and personnel and all volunteers and employees against all loss, damages and liability thus occasioned, including but not limited to any and all legal costs, including attorney fees which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of any entry form to the Show Secretary shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the provisions herein set forth. JUDGES. If, for any reason, the judge fails to attend this show or to perform his/her duties, the Show Committee reserves the right to substitute a judge for the one who is officially designated in the Prize List. It is a violation of USEF Rules to commit any act or making any remarks during the show that are considered offensive and/or made with the intent to influence to cast aspersions on the judging (see USEF Rules). No one shall approach a judge with regard to decision at any time unless they first obtain permission from the Show Committee or Steward, who shall arrange an appointment with the judge at a proper time and place. EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. LOCATION OF CLASSES: Show management reserves the right to hold classes or portions of classes on the grounds outside the designated arena(s) or change arena assignments if it is found necessary to do so or to change and modify the schedule of events as necessary to accommodate the entries received. MAIDEN/NOVICE RIDER/HORSE: Maiden/Novice classes are open to riders or horses who have not won one (maiden) or three (novice) rider/horse first place ribbons in a particular performance division or level at Regular and Local Member competitions as of the closing date of entries. USEF GR 1. MEDICAL WASTE: WARNING: Medical waste (needles, syringes, etc) MUST BE DISCARDED only in special sharps containers located at each barn. If medical waste is found in your stall area or you are seen disposing of same in other than sharps containers you will be fined. USEF 1210.4. NUMBER OF ENTRIES IN EACH CLASS: Any class with fewer than three entries after close of entries may, at the discretion of the Show Committee, be combined with another class or canceled and the exhibitors in the class(es) will be notified accordingly. Large classes may be divided and conducted as two separate classes with duplicate prizes and awards, except championship performance classes. PARKING AND TRAILER AREAS AND RV PARKING: Specific areas have been set aside for parking of horse trailers and vans of exhibitors reserving stalls. The Barn Manager will direct you to these areas when you check in. No parking between the barns or in designated no parking areas will be permitted. Due to FAIRGROUND REGULATIONS, any RVs found using hookups without the RV permit provided displayed in the window of the unit will be assessed another RV fee by the Fairgrounds. POST ENTRIES: A one-time post entry fee of 30.00 per horse will be assessed to those entries not postmarked by August 28, 2017. Post entries for classes will close at the end of the preceding session. It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to be properly entered in their respective classes. PROTESTS: Should any questions or disputes arise they must be protested in the manner prescribed by USEF GR 603. RANCH HORSE RIDING NOVICE RIDERS: Individuals who have won three or more first place ribbons in the working western division are not eligible for Ranch Horse Riding Novice Rider classes. Working Western Division includes: Trail, In-Hand Trail, Reining, Working Cowhorse, Cutting, Western Riding and Ranch Horse Pleasure REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Purebred Arabian Horses shown in the Arabian Division must have been issued a certificate of registration from either the Arabian Horse Registry of America, Inc., the Arabian Horse Association as a Purebred Arabian and/or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry as a Purebred Arabian (or in the case of a foreign entry, which has not been issued said certificate of registration, have been issued a Competition Visa by the Arabian Horse Association). 2. Half- Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Horses shown in the Arabian division must have been issued a certificate of registration from the International Arabian Horse Association or the Arabian Horse Association or the Canadian Partbred Arabian Registry as a Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian. 3. Purebred Arabian, Half Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses, if under one year of age, must be eligible for registry, and registration applied for and must be entered under their full registered name. GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES OF THE SHOW REFUSAL OF ENTRIES: The show management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries of any exhibitor as stated in the current USEF Rulebook. RETURNED CHECKS/DECLINED CREDIT CARDS: All returned checks or declined credit cards or incorrect credit card numbers will be assessed a 50.00 charge. In addition, interest of 1.5% per month will be assessed on all outstanding accounts. All fees must be paid in full, by cash, cashier s check or money order before packets will be released in the show office. The exhibitor will have 10 days from the date of the end of the show to pay the debt or be reported to Legal Authorities, USEF and AHA. If funds and penalties are not paid in full, all points and awards earned at the show will be forfeited. RODE DID NOT ENTER (RDNE): Any entry which shows in a class in which it was not properly entered will be charged the regular class fee plus a 25.00 RDNE fee. To be properly entered in a class, the class must have been listed on the original entry blank or on a properly submitted Add/Scratch Form in the horse show office. Telling the paddock manager or gate personnel to add an entry to a class does not constitute a proper entry and will result in the RDNE charge. Further, the paddock master or gate personnel are not responsible for keeping an entry out of a class that is not properly entered. RULES: This horse show is conducted in accordance with the rules of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Rule Book, specifically but not limited to Chapter AR Arabian Horse Division and the rules of the Arabian Horse Association (AHA). Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. This prize list is based on the Rules of the current USEF rule book; any changes or corrections of rules will automatically become part of this Prize List. Each participant in this show is responsible for knowledge of and is subject to the Rules of both USEF and AHA. Questions not covered by either USEF or AHA rule books shall be decided by the Show Committee and its decisions will be final. RV SPACE: Spaces are available on the show grounds. Please make your reservations directly with Pima County Fairgrounds, (520) 762-9100, extension 1025. SCHEDULE: Show Management reserves the right to change the dates and/or the location of the show or to cancel the show altogether. In the event of a cancellation, all entry fees and staff fees will be refunded (office fees are non-refundable). Neither the Show Management nor the Southern Arizona Arabian Horse Association shall have any liability to any exhibitor, owner, handler or other person, firm or corporation by reason of any change or cancellation of the show, except for the return of fees as aforesaid. SECURITY: Exhibitors and vendors are advised that it is their responsibility to secure all their valuables while on the show grounds. SAAHA will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. No security will be provided by the show. SHOW OFFICE HOURS: Office hours will be: Thursday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Friday thru Sunday: o Opens: 1 hour before the first session each day o Closes: ½ hour after the last class of each day SHARPS CONTAINERS: Trainers, owners, exhibitors or agents are advised that improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments will result in fines 100 per occurrence. USEF GR 1301.7 STABLING FACLITIES: Horse stalls & tack/grooming stalls are 50 per day or any part thereof or 100 for the show (Sep 7-10, 2017) and may be limited depending on the number of entries received. Anyone using a stall will be charged for it. This includes temporarily tying a horse or storing supplies and/or tack. Stalls will be available at 9:00 am on Thursday September 7, 2017 and must be vacated by 12:00 midnight on Sunday September 10, 2017. Exhibitors planning an earlier arrival must pay 20 per stall opened and make prior arrangements with the Barn Manager (520) 275-4094. People arriving before September 7, 2017 must realize that arenas will not be worked and they ride at their own risk. A lunging area will be provided. Each animal must be assigned a separate stall (except brood mares with suckling foals). Stalls The 600 permanent stalls are 10ft x 10ft; stalls in the main barn have 2 part doors with metal bar enclosed upper door and solid bottom door; the stalls in the A & B barns have a chain link upper door and a solid wood bottom door. Stalls in Barn C are concrete block and have a solid wood bottom door; they do not have an upper door and will only be used by special request of the exhibitor. Assignment of stalls is entirely at the prerogative of the show management. Assignments will be made as fairly as possible on the basis of many considerations, including the number of horses, time of receipt of entries, overall pattern to optimize use and convenience, show decor, ring use or access. If you have any special requests, please submit them with your entry but once assignments have been made, do not deviate without the specific approval of the Barn Manager. STALLIONS: Stallions may be shown by any junior exhibitor in all classes open to stallions. Exception: Stallions are prohibited in Walk/Trot and Leadline classes and are discouraged in Showmanship Classes. Unruly horses in any class will be promptly dismissed. GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES OF THE SHOW STALL DAMAGE: Stalls must be vacated in their original condition. STALLS MAY NOT BE STRUCTURALLY ALTERED IN ANY WAY WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF THE FAIRGROUND STAFF. DO NOT PUT NAILS INTO STALL WALLS. Exhibitors will be financially responsible for damage to their stalls and/or labor costs for removing materials used for stall decorative purpose. Damage, labor and replacement costs will be billed to exhibitor at the current Pima County Fairgrounds fee schedule. VACCINATIONS: At USEF-licensed competitions horses more than 7 months of age entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Bring documentation of vaccinations to the show office for verification upon check in. VETERINARIAN: Veterinarian will be on call during the show. The veterinarian s phone number and other emergency numbers will be posted inside & outside the show office. The Show Committee reserves the right to refuse entry onto the show grounds to any horse exposed to or which may be harboring a communicable disease. All horses may be subject to examination by a veterinarian as per USEF Rulebook. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a 30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions; 8) Opportunity classes; 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation; 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.
