DIRECTORS REPORT Greetings All, Well it s that time again for my little column. Wow it s been a busy and great month, we had the toy run, our Xmas party and Rocky Horror Night. Let me firstly say a big Thank You to, Krasha, Rob, Cagey, Denise and everyone else involved in the Toy Run. Once again our Club/Chapter has held its head high, with a record amount of money raised for the Salvation Army. Secondly, I d like to congratulate Slayer and Cagey for the awesome Xmas party. It was well attended and the food was delicious, a good time was had by all. Thirdly, a massive thank you to Mark & Lisa Wilson for putting on the Rocky Horror Night, what a blast and it was great to see our members support it so well, it was an awesome night. As you may or may not know, our regional director Brian Neilsen s time as director has sadly come to an end. Brian will be replaced by Andrew Sloan who is the Director of the Swan River Chapter. He will be leaving that role to become the Regional Director for WA and NT. I d like to personally thank Brian for his time in the role and he will be sorely missed by our chapter. Brian has done some great things during his time, I think his biggest achievement was how he went about saving the Mt Isa Chapter. He was the MAN, his work behind the scene saved the Isa Chapter. Andrew Sloan will take over on the 1/1/2018 and will have some big shoes to fill. I wish him well in the role. Lastly, I d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, please stay safe during the holiday season and I will see you all on my return home, at Dianne Marks 60 th birthday party on the 13 th of Jan. Until then Cheers Gibbo Greetings from the South as we take a short break in SA. ASSISTANT DIRECTORS REPORT A big thank you to all who have contributed to the many activities we as a club have had available to participate in. Don t be shy if you have an idea for a bit of fun talk to one of the committee to get it out there. Have made good use of some cool fine weather and had an awesome Day with Danny Robinson prior New year scratching around the Adelaide hills then on new year day another great day riding the hills south of Adelaide with Bayside Hog, did a 1000ks between the two days and not a lot of that on the centre of the tire. I know the wet season can be a bit trying getting in some rides but it is probably a good time to get a service and maintenance out of the way so you don t have to line up in the dry when its good riding weather. The next social gathering is Dianne s 60 th Sat evening 13 th Jan, if you want to come down give her a call 0439 894689 or me 0438 407735 and leave a message so we can get back to you for bed arrangements. Don t forget Ladies of Harley Australia day at Jo and Al s, should be a lot of fun. Be see in you when we do, till then be safe. Peter M
ACTIVITIES OFFICER REPORT Fellow Hoggies, Rocky Horror Theme/70 s at Willows was a cracker of a night. A few laughs, great costumes and a few wondering how the movie is still enjoyed. Big thanks to the great hosts. Toy Run went well, 185 bikes, 258 toys, and $2676 raised for the Salvos to continue their good work. A big thank you to all that organised, and helped out on the day. Led by Krasha, prizes were bigger and better than ever, and many of the sponsors have indicated they want to be a part of it again next year. Hopefully they can get better looking models for the paper promo photo shoot next year! The Xmas party was held at the Hotel Darwin on the 9th Dec, and I m told a great night. Thanks to Slayer for organising, and all that attended. ttached is the calendar for the first 3 months and will be added to as the year progresses, please let myself or Slayer know if you have anything you want to add. RIDE RULES Arrive with a full tank of fuel and an empty bladder. Fuel stops will be made as required along the way. Staggered Riding Formation 1. Have appropriate riding gear for expected conditions. 2. The nominated Ride Captain leads the group. DO NOT OVERTAKE him or her. 3. A motor cycle requires a FULL LANE to operate safely. We ride in STAGGERED FORMATION and NOT SIDE BY SIDE. STAGGERED FORMATION: One second rule: The bike to the left or right of you should not be less than one second ahead of you. Two second rule: Maintain two seconds between you and the bike in front of you. Four second rule: Your eyes should be watching a few bikes ahead of you, not fixed on the bike in front of you. 4. We only use one lane of a multi lane highway. That is the lane the Road Captain is using. 5. Maintain a constant speed, this helps prevent the Rubber Band effect. Always adhere to the speed limits. 6. A rider will be nominated to ride at the rear of the group. It is his or her responsibility to ensure that the riders DO NOT GET LOST and to render assistance if necessary. 7. The group as a whole MUST NOT stop for an individual as it can be dangerous to have the whole group stop on the side of the road. The nominated Tail End rider will stop and render assistance. 8. When we do stop as a group, be sure to park well off the road. 9. ALWAYS signal your intention to change lanes. Keep a safe distance behind the rider in front, CHECK YOUR MIRRORS often and concentrate on your riding. 10. If every rider can see the rider behind him or her in the mirrors, the group should not get split up. Adjust your speed to do so. 11. We ride as a GROUP to and from our destination until we split up to go home. KEEP THE GROUP TOGETHER, TRY NOT TO LAG BEHIND. Rides will be listed as HOG or NON-HOG. On a HOG ride, only HARLEYS may be ridden but friends or visitors may meet us at the destination. On a NON-HOG ride, members friends or visitors may ride NON-HARLEYS but at the rear of the group. In both cases any friends or visitors will be the responsibility of the member who invited them. 12. Riders in doubt about ANY aspect of the ride should ask the Road Captain or appointed Road Marshall for assistance. 13. Although it is a group, ride safety is a personal responsibility 14. Novices or riders new to the group should ride towards the back until they are comfortable 15. If it isn t safe to pass, go through an intersection or turn: DON T. 16. In spite of what the group does, pass as if you were riding alone (within formation). 17. Stay within the bounds of your skill level. Don`t be influenced by the bike ahead of you diving into curves. Group riding is neither a race nor a competition. 18. If you don't feel comfortable riding in a group, ride on your own. Changing Lanes
Hello, my name is Richard, several years ago I was a member of the Hoggies, but work and other commitments didn't allow me the time to enjoy the club or many of it's activities, just recently I sold my HD Nightrain, and during a clean up came across several items that are no longer of use to me.
