The beginning of a new trimester is one of my favorite times of the year. Every student is starting over and the possibilities are endless for what each student can achieve in 12 weeks. I hope each student is setting a goal to work harder and put forth more effort in the classroom and at home as we push toward summer.
Athlete of the Week Cheerleaders Musician of the Week PTA fundraiser Odyssey of the Mind Chorus News The following quote is from Vince Lombardi, of whom I am a huge fan. "The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work. Work is the key to success, and hard work can help you accomplish anything." Our students are ready to work hard. Every adult at Woodland Middle School believes these children are capable of accomplishing anything they put their minds to. Our belief in each child's potential, combined with his/her individual hard work in class, will create a school destined for success! Band News ArtsWave Campaign I hope you each have a great week! News from the Chorus Congratulations to the Woodland's students who performed in the Kentucky Junior High Choruses and the Kentucky Children's Chorus in Louisville in early February. They were chose by audition, which makes them among the very best singers in grades 7, 8 and 9 in the whole state! It was difficult music, but they had a great time staying with their families at the Galt House Hotel and performing in the Huge Kentucky Center for the Arts. There is nothing quite like being on stage and hearing several thousand people clapping for YOU! Congratulations!!! Performing Students Left to right: Maddie Berberich, Taylor Thurber, Breanna Brandenburg, Julia Sager, Tara Hatfield, Justin Hamm, Denzil Hamm, Collen Snell. Singers Achieve Distinguished Ratings Woodland Chorus members received high ratings and high praise at NKU on February 23. Seventeen of our fantastic chorus students sang solos, duets and even a trio at the Vocal Solo and Ensemble Festival, an event sponsored and regulated by the Kentucky Music Educators Association. They were assessed by Dr. Grant Knox, a full time voice teacher at NKU. He was very impressed by their level of preparation as well as by their raw talent. Congratulate them when you see them!
