Chatter-Barks Obedience Club of Daytona, Inc. Volume 35 / Issue 4 www.ocodb.org April 2016 Meeting Location OCOD Training Center 1276 8th Street Corner of 8th & Derbyshire 7:00 pm General Meeting with Members & Guests President: Pat Mozden 386-788-3800 patmozden@cfl.rr.com Vice Pres: Maria Orlando Secretary: Kathy Nicastro Treasurer: Hoke Johnson Board of Directors: Carole Schultz Linda Hudak Joe White OBEDIENCE: 761-1095 Joan C. 677-4528 Renee J. AGILITY: 527-5255 Janet B. 767-6798 Anna J. APPLICATIONS: Can be found on our web site www.ocodb.org Disclaimer: the views and opinions expressed herein do not necessarily represent the views and opinions of the Obedience Club of Daytona, Inc. or the editors. NEXT MEETING 7:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 Dr. Sarah Zuker D.V.M., C.C.R.P. will be our guest speaker. She will be discussing veterinary physical rehabilitation and how physical rehabilitation can have a substantially beneficial impact on many aspects of a pet s life. President s Message, For those with active dogs, injuries come with the territory. And as our canine friends age, stiffness can become a problem. Dr. Zuker, our speaker for April, will be talking about ways we can help our dogs better cope with these issues. I ve been reminding (OK, hounding) the membership about the importance of volunteering time to the club and many have responded generously. Now I need to see where our volunteers are spending their time so we can identify areas of need. Here s something that will help us: Nina Daly made a binder that sits on a small table near the thermostat in the training center. In this binder, please note the # of hours) you worked on club needs, what it was, and the date. You will need to start your own page (there s plenty of paper) and then put it behind the correct letter tab. That s it - simple. Everything counts: teaching and assisting, of course. But also cleaning, repairs, painting, cutting the grass/weeds behind the building, public education events, etc. I m sure members are spending time on things I don t even know about it will be interesting to read the listings. Please take an extra moment the first time and catch up by listing what you have already done this year (as best you can remember). For those who don t come into the building often, Linda Hudak has agreed to be the email contact for your information which she will then get into the book. Her email is randylindahudak@bellsouth.net. Be sure to put OCOD in the subject line and list all the information above. I ll also be sending out a form shortly that will help. Speaking of helping, many of you took a supply of blue flyers for our Puppy and Basic classes two meeting ago. If you need more, I will have a large supply again at the April meeting. The Vets, Pet supply stores, and groomers are great for referrals. If you are friendly with a business that will distribute our flyers, make sure they always have a supply on hand. Let s keep those classes full Thank you. Pat Mozden
