What a great April meeting. We had 200 wranglers in attendance. This was the largest meeting I have seen in a long time. Thank you all for coming out to be part of the pictures. Congratulations to our 2017 scholarship recipients: Clayton Cochran, Stephanie DeWitt, Cory Dyer, Dakota Golightly, Aaron Lichtenberg, Tia Lichtenberg, Layton Shipp, Greta Steinmetz and Thomas Stroup. Your Wrangler Board has been extremely busy during the month of March. With New Wrangler Meet and Greet New Wrangler Orientation, Rotary Bowl-a-Thon, and 28 Hours of Hope. Now, we will have 324 active wranglers, 58 new wranglers, 6 new Stampede Riders and 12 WITS. This was a great recruiting effort by the board and all members. Please take some time to welcome these new wranglers to our family. With all of this going on it means that the 96th annual Stampede is drawing very close. Many of the Trail Bosses will be holding organizational meetings for their area. If you have not heard from the Trail Boss of an area that you signed up for I urge you to contact them. There are a few changes for the Hideout this year. We are in the process of putting a patio on the north side of the Hideout, which is where meals will be served. Dinner meals will be served starting at 5:00 and lunch meals on the weekends will be served starting at 11:00. Meals are for working Wranglers and Wrangler children. Remember all Wrangler children must be accompanied a Wrangler parent when in the Hideout. We will be attempt to keep the Hideout open from 10am to midnight, but to do this we will need some help. If you would be willing to monitor the hideout, please give me a call. At our May meeting we will be auctioning Jeff Rife s 2014 Hall of Fame Buckle. All proceeds will be donated to the Elk s Foundation. If at any time you have questions, concerns or an idea for the board please don t hesitate to contact me or any other board member. We were all elected to serve you the membership. Please remember we are all volunteers. The Stampede doesn t happen without all of us working together. Let s make the 96th annual Stampede the best. Hold on Tight Kevin Carbaugh Wrangler President Here's to all volunteers, those dedicated people who believe in all work and no pay. ~Robert Orben Page 1 The Wranglers, Inc. P.O. The Wranglers are a great group of people who are dedicated on putting on the biggest party of the summer. Our event brochures will be available for distribution the first part of May. We are printing 125,000 copies to distributed all around the state and greatly appreciate everyone s help passing them out to friends, family, co-workers, and strangers. It is a top priority to provide affordable entertainment for our guests to experience, so we have really focused on the Kids Korral area this year. In addition to the Sheep Stampede, the petting zoo, face painting, balloon making, stick horse rodeos and Bucky s sandbox, we will have duck races, Frisbee dog shows, a pedal tractor course, Transformer robots and the Innovation Station (a hands-on experience that focuses on science, technology, engineering, art, and math). All these activities and shows will be free for our guests. We are working with Kaiser Permanente to create a new volunteer wellness program. They will be providing water bottles, pedometers, healthy snacks, and prizes for participants who track the most steps during the event. Guests who ride their bikes while wearing a helmet will also receive complimentary park admission this year too. Make sure to read the event brochure to learn about other new areas & amenities including the craft beer tent, UCHealth lactation station for nursing mothers, mercantile shopping area and the carnival music stage. We have less than 50 days until the 96 th Annual Greeley Stampede kicks off. Remember to HOLD ON TIGHT as we are planning on having one heck of a good time celebrating our nation s independence! Justin Watada General Manager Happy Birthday to the May & June Wranglers!!! Parades The Parades crew is busy planning for 12 daily parades in the park and the popular Independence Day Parade on July 4 th. The longhorns will be leading our parades with hitches from Gary Reiber, Jim Rice and Jim Newell again this year. We will need almost 100 volunteers for the July 4 th parade. Please sign up with Tom Robb by emailing paradestb@greeleystampede.org if you are interesting helping with parades this summer. We need your contact information and t-shirt size by May 15. We are scheduling a full parades meeting in early June. Page 2 The Wranglers, Inc. P.O. Box 1461, Greeley, CO 80631 Email: wranglers@greeleystampede.org
