JUST SOLVENT (Jerry Noske) Crowded and lost ground behind the heels of another runner between the 600m and the 500m. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for MODO MIO (C. McCallum) racing in restricted room and having to check and lose its position at the 500m. DANESTREET (M. Forder) which had been leading had compounded through this section which resulted in JUST SOLVENT (Jerry Noske) being taken back behind the heels of this runner. It was established that through this section of the race MODO MIO was racing behind and to the outside of JUST SOLVENT with DIRKBROOK DIVA (B. Paterson) improving to its outside resulting in MODO MIO being placed in restricted room when shifting outwards marginally and bumping the hindquarters of DIRKBROOK DIVA turning that mare inwards causing MODO MIO to become crowded and having to check losing its position. After considering the live observations, vision and the evidence tendered by the riders, Stewards were satisfied that no rider had ridden in a careless manner and deemed this to be a racing incident and therefore took no further action. ASCOT : 29.01.14 144/5 Late Reports Continued Geraldton Sunday, 26 January 2014 Race 7 Geraldton On The Foreshore Handicap 1100m Stewards today commenced an adjourned inquiry into the reason for ROCKIN ROLL GIRL (Kyra Yuill) being bumped becoming unbalanced, further causing CAN T HARTLEY WAIT (Brayden Gaerth) and CRANKY DANCER (Shelby Bowtell) to be bumped near the 250m. Evidence was taken from Jockeys Kyra Yuill and Shaun Meeres (BIG CLINT) and Apprentices Chloe Azzopardi (DROP OF A HAT) and Brayden Gaerth and after viewing several camera angles of the incident it was established that on straightening, clear running had immediately presented for DROP OF A HAT to the outside of BIG CLINT and shortly after DROP OF A HAT committed to the outside of the heels of BIG CLINT with that gelding then shifting outwards marginally when under pressure. This resulted in DROP OF A HAT making contact with ROCKIN ROLL GIRL, with that filly bumping with CAN T HARTLEY WAIT and in turn that mare bumping with CRANKY DANCER near the 250m. Stewards were of the view that although the shift outwards from BIG CLINT was marginal, it had resulted in clear running which had originally presented for DROP OF A HAT to become marginal. Jockey Yuill also explained that due to her mount racing wide throughout, it was under pressure in the straight and over-reacted when bumped. Stewards were therefore of the opinion that no rider had ridden carelessly in this incident however, strongly reminded Apprentice Azzopardi that when attempting to obtain clear running in future she is to ensure that she is fully clear of other runners.
