RACE 2: TABTIME SPRINT - 1000M An objection lodged by Jockey S. Parnham rider of the second placed EXCELORADA against BEACH EXPRESS (B. Paterson) being declared the winner, alleging interference between the 700m and the 600m was upheld with the amended placings being: 1 st EXCELORADA (S. Parnham) 2 nd BEACH EXPRESS (B. Paterson) 3 rd BLACKSMITH (R. Forrest) 4 th ACORNS (W. Pike) 5 th HIGHLY TOXIC (M. Pateman) In upholding the objection Stewards were of the opinion that the pressure that BEACH EXPRESS applied to EXCELORADA between the 600m and the 700m causing it to be forced inwards towards the running rail and the contact made with this gelding was greater than the official margin of a short head between these two runners. MEGEM'S BOY (Ryan Hill) Steadied passing the 700m. ACORNS (William Pike) Slipped at the start. Angled outwards and raced wide from the 250m to obtain clear running. EXCELORADA (S. TORRIDALE (Chanelle O'Grady) When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, Trainer Ms R. Elliott stated that in her opinion the gelding was obliged to work hard when racing on the pace through the early and middle stages and consequently was unable to finish the race off. She further advised that it was now her intention to start the gelding over a lesser distance to which it will be better suited at its next start. Returned having cast its off hind plate during running. RACE 5: A.J. SCAHILL STAKES - 1400M WESTRIVER KEVYDONN (Jason Whiting) When questioned regarding the gelding racing back in the field, rider explained that after jumping well he had endeavoured to position the gelding off the pace and where it felt comfortable. Hall (MABEL GRACE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under ARR.137(a) for allowing his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of DREAMAWAY (W. Pike) causing that mare to be tightened and restrained near the 1350m. Jockey P. Hall was subsequently suspended for a period of 16 days with 7 of these days to be served cumulatively to the 12 day suspension incurred at Bunbury on Wednesday, 5 December 2012 and consequently he is suspended from riding in races until midnight, 28 December 2012. In determining this penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Hall s overall good record in relation to careless riding and that the period included a feature race meeting on Saturday, 22 December 2012. RACE 8: TABTOUCH.MOBI-KINGSTON TOWN CLASSIC - 1800M All runners in this race were placed under guard from 5am this morning and Stewards inquired into reports received from guarding personnel regarding substances administered to MASCHINO and CHESTER ROAD. It was established that CHESTER ROAD received Gastrozol paste at approximately 5:30am this morning and MASCHINO received Electrovite paste at approximately 7:30am. Stewards also took Veterinary advice from Dr Peter Symons who advised that the substance Gastrozol (ulcer treatment) contained an ingredient that is excepted from the Rules as a prohibited substance and Electrovite (vitamin and mineral treatment) which is also not a prohibited substance. Both CHESTER ROAD and MASCHINO were subjected to Istat blood analysis prior to the race and the results were within normal parameters. After consideration of such advice Stewards considered the provisions of ARR.178E(2) which states: The Stewards may order the withdrawal from a race engagement any horse that has received medication in contravention of subrule (1) of this rule; and subrule (1) which states: Notwithstanding the provisions of AR.178C(2), no person without the permission of the Stewards may administer or cause to be administered any medication to a horse on race day prior to such horse running in a race; the Stewards did not order the withdrawal of CHESTER ROAD and MASCHINO from this race. In addition to standard pre-race TCO2 testing, both horses then also had post race urine and blood samples taken for analysis and further Stewards took possession of the syringe used to administer Electrovite paste to MASCHINO and it will also undergo analysis by the ChemCentre. Trainers A. Durrant and G. Yuill will be required to attend an Inquiry into the above matter at a time and date to be advised.
ASCOT : 08.12.12 104/4 Race 8 Continued After being placed in its barrier WALL STREET (NZ) (Steven Arnold) ($12) kicked out and got its near hind leg cast over the rear barrier gate and after being removed and undergoing a Veterinary examination was subsequently withdrawn by the Stewards at 5:17pm acting on Veterinary advice. Rider advised that the gelding was unable to muster early pace after losing ground at the start. Gear Change: SIR HALLOWELL Noseband Off General: Stewards questioned Jockey W. White (WOLFE DREAMS) in regards to the reason for him raising his left elbow near the 450m. Jockey White explained that at that stage of the race he was attempting to balance his mount by gathering his near side rein when racing to the outside of CHECKPOINT (B. Parnham) and that runner had shifted out and made contact with his mount and he became unbalanced and consequently his elbow had raised towards the inside runner.
