ANNUAL REPORT 2013-14 From the Field of Sports Lakshmibai College has won laurels and become one of the two top women colleges of the University of Delhi in sports with continuous dedicated efforts of the students and Department of Physical Education and sports. Our students participated in 25 sports and games during the session 2013-14 and performed remarkably well in all sports including Archery, Athletics, Basketball, Baseball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cross Country, Fencing, Gymnastics, Handball, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Netball, Powerlifting, Shooting (Rifle And Pistol), Softball, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Wrestling, Weightlifting, and Yoga at various levels the achievements are listed are listed below : INTERNATIONAL Ritu Dhruv was member of the Indian Women Cricket team that won both the series against Bangladesh by 3-0. She played three T-20 matches in Baroda and three one day internationals at Ahmedabad. She has also been selected as a probable for Indian Women Cricket team for T-20 world cup, was a member of Team India in green challenger trophy and played for India A in one day practice game against Sri Lanka at Vizag NATIONAL Out of the 70 representatives made by our college students in various national competitions, the gold medal was won by Ritu Dhruv in Cricket, Kamla Joshi and Bhanupriya in Shooting and Nigar Bano in Yoga ;the silver medals winners were Ritu Dhruv in cricket, Renu Kashyap in netball, Nidhi Tanwar and Pinki in shooting,tania and Geeta in Yoga and bronze medal was won by Neha in Athletics; Surbhi Jain, Manisha Choudhary,Priya Pundhir in Baseball; Karishma Rout in Kabaddi. Country; Chinki and Chhaya in Cycle Polo; Siddakpreet Kaur and Nosaba in Fencing; Shelza Vats, Sushma Malik and Akanksha Gupta in Judo; Nisha, Rajesh and Karishma Rout in Kabaddi; Chinki in in Langadi; Barkha, Nagma Bano, Sunita, Kavita, Mohini, Priyanka Sehgal and Sakshi in Kho- Kho; Renu Kashyap, Aakriti Dahiya, Neha Prabhakar and Sonia Mishra in Netball; Kamla Joshi, Nidhi Tanwar, Pinki, Bhnupriya, Shilpa, Megha Rawat and Sheetal in Shooting; Surbhi Jain and Monica Sharma in Softball; Mohini, Manisha and Garima in Sepaktakraw; Neelkamal, Harsha and Pooja in Volleyball; Deepika in Weightlifting; and Tania, Sonali, Geeta and Nigar Bano in Yoga. All India Inter-University While representing University of Delhi in different competitions at All India Inter-University, our college students won the Bronze medals in Athletics (Swati Singhal in 800m), Judo (Shelja Vats in 57 Kg), Weightlifting (Deepika in 48 Kg), Netball (Subhalaxmi Joshi, Renu Kashyap and Sonia) and Yoga (Jyoti Devi, Sonali, Tania, Nigar Bano and Geeta). In all, 30 students of our college represented University of Delhi in different sports at All India Inter University Competitions including Swati Singhal and Bharti Singhania in Athletics (2), Bharti Singhania, Sandhya and Neeraj in Cross Country (3); Surbhi Jain, Shweta, Bhawna and Manisha Chudhary in Baseball (4); Akankshi in Boxing (1); Ritu Dhruv, Neha Rani, Monica Sharma, Surbhi Jain and Manju Sen in Cricket (5); Prema and Siddakpreet Kaur in Fencing (2); Shelza Vats, Akanksha and Sushma Malik in Judo (3); Subhalaxmi Joshi, Sonia and Renu Kashyap in Netball (3); Deepika in Weightlifting (1); Shelza Vats in Wrestling (1); and Jyoti Devi, Sonali, Tania, Nigar Bano and Geeta in Yoga (5). North Zone Inter-University Out of 12 students representing University of Delhi in North zone Inter-University competitions including Ritu Dhruv, Neha Rani, Monica Sharma, Surbhi Jain and Manju Sen in cricket (5); Shikha and Sonika in Kabaddi (2), Mohini Rawat in Kho- Kho (1); and Reshma, Neha Kashyap, Harsha and Pooja in Volleyball (4), the Cricket team won the silver medal.
North Zone / Central Zone While representing Delhi in various north zone / central zone tournaments, the Gold medal was won by Meenakshi, Sajina, Sadaf, Shalu Jain, Pinki, Shweta, Manisha, Bhawn, Priya Pundhir and Reena in Baseball; Geetika in Karate; and Kamla Joshi in Pistol Shooting; silver medal winners were Mohini Rawat and Garima in Kho-kho; and Sandhya Saini in Athletics; and Bronze medal was won by Manisha Chaudhary in Softball. The participants included Bharti, Neeraj and Anita Singh in Athletics; and Pinki in Shooting. Inter-college In Inter-college competitions, Lakshmibai College emerged Champion in Athletics, Cross Country, Powerlifting, Weightlifting and Yoga; stood 2nd in cricket, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Netball and Volleyball; stood 3rd in Baseball and Boxing; and finished 4th in Wrestling and Archery (Recurve). Individually, we won a total of fifty seven (57) medals, including twenty three gold medals (seven in Athletics Sandhya in Half Marathon, Sushila in 5 km walk, Bharti in 5000m, Bharti Singhania in 10000m, Swati in 400m, Swati Singhal in 800m, and 4x100m Relay team consisting of Swati, Neha, Rini and Ankita; five in Weightlifting Deepika, Sandhya Saini, Rinki Rajora, Vaishali, Sushma Malik; four in Powerlifting Sandhya Saini, Nagma Bano, Rinki Rajora, Sushma Malik; two in Boxing Akanshi and Sushma Malik; one in cross country Bharti Singhania; and one in wrestling Shelza Vats); fourteen silver medals (six in Athletics Ritu in half marathon, Anita Singh in 5 km. Walk, Ritu in 5000 m, Sandhya in 10000m, Rini in long jump, Kanchan in 400m hurdles); two in weightlifting Namita and Neha; two in Boxing Harshika Chauhan and Shruti Khemka; one in Powerlifting Sunita; one in Taekwondo Nidhi Tyagi; one in Judo Sushila; one in Yoga Jyoti); and twenty bronze medals (six in Athletics Rini in 100m, Neha in 200m, Neeraj in 1500m, Rinki in heptathlon, Kanchan in 100m hurdles and 4x400m relay consisting of Sandhya Saini, Sushila, Bharti, Kanchan; five in Boxing Sujata, Geetika, Anshu, Japjeet Kaur, Akanksha; four in Taekwondo Shweta, Sujata,
Priyanka and Sushma Malik; three in Wrestling Bharti, Sulekha and Anu Tyagi; one in Judo Shelza in open wt; and one in Yoga Sonali). Delhi State / Women festival In Delhi state competitions, we stood first in Baseball, Ist in Volleyball (Women Festival); 2nd in Judo (Women) and 3rd in Judo (Junior Girls). In women Festival, our college Volleyball team as winners defeating Jaunti Club in the finals, while our Kabaddi team finished at 4th. Individually we won a total of 27 medals including six gold medals (Bharti, Kanchan, Rini in Athletics; Akanksha Gupta and Shelza Vats in Judo; Kamla Joshi in Shooting), seven silver medals (Swati, Swati Singhal, Neeraj, Sushila, Sandhya, Sandhya Saini in Athletics, Sushma in Judo); and fourteen bronze medals (Ankita Saini, Sandhya Sonia, Rinki Rajora, Sushila, Bharti, 4x100 relay team, 4x400m relay team team in Athletics; Shelza, Neena, Babita and Bhawna in Judo; Prema and neha Ruhil in Fencing). District Level Tournaments In District Table Tennis Championship, Mridhu Sonsi secured first position while Sonia Kaushik stood third. Open Tournaments Our college team won the Bharti Cup Cricket tournament for fourth time in a row defeating Gargi College in the finals, with our students winning the titles for Best Bowler (Jaya Sharma) and Best Fielder (Surbhi Jain). Our Volleyball team emerged Champion in Rajeev Gandhi Volleyball Tournament t YMCA and stood 2nd at Nawada and Miranda House; Yoga team emerged Champion (team A) as well as 2nd (team B) at Amity University; Kho-Kho team stood 2nd at Bharti Cup Kho-Kho Competition, where Mohini Rawat was adjudged the Best Runner; and Chess team stood 3rd at Miranda House as well as at SRCC. In different Delhi State Level tournaments, Shelza Vats won the gold medal at 2nd DD Open Delhi State Judo Championship held at Palam, while Nasima, Bhawna, Babita and Akanshi got the bronze medals. In all, we won a total of 124 medals including 40 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze medals at different levels of competitions
during the session 2013-14. The Department of Physical Education successfully organized the Inter-College Volleyball (W), Netball (W) and Yoga (M and W) Championship premises. The inter College Yoga Championship was inaugurated by Chairman Prof. S.M. Patnaik, who blessed the participants with his encouraging words.
