Soju Warrior - Over raced through the early and middle stages when racing wide and without cover. Nasdex - Settled outside the leader. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Race 2 - allianz insurance sv 2yo maiden plate (2) - 1100 metres: Sheriff John Stone - Commenced awkwardly and shifted out bumping General Von Costa. Knockoura - (Officially placed fifth) Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 400 metres had to be checked off the heels of Itchy Nee. When questioned rider C. Newitt explained he was anticipating obtaining a run to the inside of Itchy Nee, however that gelding failed to fully shift four wide before he found himself awkwardly placed on the heels of Itchy Nee that also lay in marginally. Shifted out under pressure in the straight. C. Newitt stated that the gelding raced greenly throughout. C. Newitt was also reminded of his obligations to fully ride his mount through to the finish. While the Panel accepted the gelding was shifting ground and racing greenly, they could not be fully satisfied his actions affected the placings. Congressional - Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the middle stages. Itchy Nee - Commenced awkwardly and shifted in. Mr Sneaky - Shortly after the start became unbalanced when hampered by Stryker Royale which shifted in and made contact.
Stryker Royale - Shifted in after the start and contacted Mr Sneaky. Lost an off front plate during the event. Missandei - Raced wide without cover. Antarctic Fire - Raced wide throughout. Yulong Xiongzhuang - Raced wide through the early stages before settling outside the leader. Performance queried. The D. Weir stable reported that they will monitor the colt in coming days and will report anything to Stewards that may have explained todays performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed a delayed recovery. Monterey Magic - Rider A. Creighton stated that the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure in the straight. On post race veterinary examination Monterey Magic was noted to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer S. Nichols was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance before the horse is accepted to race again. Race 3 - elantis premium funding maiden plate - 1100 metres: Annrhon - Tactics notified - Trainer H. Connors advised that having drawn wide and with this being the fillys first start, his instructions were for the filly to be ridden with cover. Settled worse than mid field. Golden Child - Bounded on jumping. Passing the 400 metres was hampered and taken wider on the course by Miss Juanita that in turn had been forced wider by Bel Maiya that shifted out. Rider M. Tactics queried approaching the 800 metres. Rider C. Newitt explained it had been his intention to trail the leader, however when his mount was racing greenly near the 800 metres he conceded the position behind the leader to Red Hot Romeo that shifted in when being crossed by Weekend. Severely checked passing the 500 metres when trailing Red Hot Romeo that brushed the rail. Rider C Newitt explained the colt that was having its second race start was racing greenly and shifted in and away from Delle Donne where his mount brushed the rail before shying. C. Newitt added he then balanced his mount before riding it along over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Southern Special - Over raced in the early stages. Weekend - Raced wide until crossing to obtain a position outside the leader. Rider D. Moor reported that the filly did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure. He also added it may benefit from the addition of blinkers. Vontessa - Raced wide without cover. Mandana - Checked passing the 500 metres to avoid the heels of Magmellou that shifted out abruptly. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Red Hot Romeo - Passing the 500 metres brushed the rail. Rider G. Cartwright reported the gelding lay in under pressure at this point. Over raced in the middle stages and passing the 1000 metres had to be steadied off the heels of Tomis Girl. Malibu Affair - Shifted out on jumping and bumped My Halo Rocks. Raced wide and without cover. Raced keenly in the early stages. My Halo Rocks - Shifted in on jumping and bumped Malibu Affair. Vonnida - Slow to begin.
Rateriser - Raced four wide and without cover. Tactics queried. Rider J. Andreou explained she was instructed to be positive on the gelding and settle in the first half of the field. J. Andreou explained after beginning well she was unable to muster sufficient speed to obtain a more forward position. The Panel advised in hindsight it may have been more beneficial to ease and obtain cover rather than be caught excessively wide. Rebelution - Settled one out one back. Performance queried. Rider C. Newitt reported the gelding was not comfortable when racing tight between runners and was unable to quicken when placed under pressure from the 400 metres. Race 6 - miramar underwriting agency bm78 handicap - 1100 metres: Valiant Warrior - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination following the removal of bone chips since its last start November 2015, and was deemed fit to run. Stingray - Settled one out one back. Performance queried. Rider P. Maloney could offer no explanation for the geldings performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Liten Prinsessa - Unable to obtain clear running from the entrance to the straight until inside the 50 metres when a run presented due to Secret Blend shifting out. Race 7 - nti f&m bm64 handicap - 1100 metres: Beyond Purple - Commenced awkwardly and shifted in contacting Miss Delorean and becoming unbalanced. Raced wide until obtaining the lead inside the 800 metres. Performance queried. Rider E. Brown stated he would have been comfortable settling outside Miss Gidget at the 800 metres however his mount was pulling hard so he permitted it to stride forward to the lead. E. Brown acknowledged the filly did give ground quickly in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Moroney will be contacted in the coming days to ascertain whether anything comes to light which may explain the poor performance. Miss Gidget - Knuckled on jumping. Princess Arrow - Commenced awkwardly. Rider R. Maloney was questioned regarding his riding of the filly in the straight. R. Maloney stated the filly can stargaze so he did not wish to hit the lead too soon however highlighted he placed his mount under pressure from approximately the 200 metres, and continued to ride his mount along through to the finish. His comments were noted. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Miss Delorean - Tightened for room after the start between Miss Gidget and Beyond Purple which shifted in. Race 8 - jai roderick memorial bm64 handicap - 1900 metres: Law Major - Trainer C. Waller was fined $200 for failing to present the geldings Thoroughbred Identification Card. Commenced awkwardly and shifted out hampering Eye Contact. Performed below market expectations. Rider M. Walker reported the gelding travelled well and was in a winning position upon straightening however then failed to respond to his riding. Mister Cool - Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide from the 1100 metres. Tactics queried. Rider G. Cartwright stated she was instructed to attempt to ride the gelding closer however after being slow to begin she settled at the rear. In order to be more positive she elected to shift three wide from the 1100 metres in an effort to improve and obtain a trail into the race. Stewards were of the opinion G. Cartwright erred in shifting wide at this point where she was unlikely to gain a trail into the race and Mister Cool is consistently ridden in a fashion were it is saved for one last run. Tortured Poet - Checked near the 1700 metres to avoid the heels of Solid Rod that shifted out after meeting with interference. Raced wide through the middle stages before being permitted to stride forward and settle outside the leader near the 900 metres. It Could Be You - Raced wide through the early stages until crossing to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1300 metres. Luisa Maree - On post race veterinary examination Luisa Maree was noted to be lame in the near fore. Trainer D. Weir was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance before the horse is accepted to race again. Dancing Rose - Over raced in the early and middle stages. Nippa Bleu - Held up rounding the turn and until straightening. R. Pearson (Dancing Rose) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 137(a). The careless riding being that leaving the front straight near the 1700 metres R.
Pearson carelessly permitted Dancing Rose to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Law Major taking that gelding in, resulting in Solid Rod being severely checked and losing its rightful running. The licence of R. Pearson to ride in races was suspended for a total of 11 meetings (7 provincial, 4 metro) commencing midnight 19 th July 2016 and concluding midnight 30 th July 2016. In assessing penalty Stewards deemed the incident to be in the midrange and took into account her guilty plea, good record and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Rockets Red Glare - Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide without cover. Performed below market expectations. Rider D. Stackhouse could offer no explanation for the geldings performance.
