Latest scores. Enough activity for all keen anglers. Appended is a note on recalled EPIRBs. Fishing Local Weather conditions have put a bit of a damper on fishing activities in eth past few weeks, but those keen on light tackle pelagic species and bottom bouncing have been well rewarded. Dan Hunt picked up a nice cobia off Mindarie which was almost immediately followed by a 17kg dhufish. Dean Rundell has been getting amongst the snapper, and as reported on the competition last weekend saw plenty of salmon and tailor. Social Nights Following the successful and entertaining Redmap presentation at the club on July 1 st, August s Social Night is to be something new. We will be hosted by Marmion Angling and Aquatic Club on West Coast Drive Marmion wher our mate Smiddy from the Smoke Shack will tempt us with some smoked favourites beforer a meal from the kitchens of the MAAC club. Tony Antenucci who has become a bit of a legend as a deep drop fisherman will give us a presentation on deep drop techniques. An evening not to be missed, RSVP s are required to rsvp@pgfc.com.au 25 th July 2014 Hook-Up Page 1

City Beach Builders Grand Prix Round 9 Greeted by a forecast that was less than encouraging the fleet attached the task at hand with vigour. Typical winter species of salmon and tailor were supplemented by a nice 6.5 kg Samson fish picked up by Deon van der Westhuizen s aboard Striker, whilst Kris Koenig continued her run at the ladies championship with a 25kg bronze whaler on 6kg fishing aboard Rock N Roll. Deeper Still and Ashram both fished the shallower water in close to Mewstone Rock with good salmon being plentiful, including the one at right with angler Andy Pearson. Scores for the day were: Boat Points Ashram 30 Rock n Roll 25 Deeper Still 21 Striker 18 Angler Andy Pearson 25 Rhyss Whittred 20 Tim Carson 16 Deon van der Westhuizen 13 Rick Ashton 11 Female Kristine Keonig 25 In an example of extreme commitment, Deon van der Westhuizen flew home to Perth from Europe via Melbourne, arriving in time for only a couple of hours kip, before jumping in the boat and fishing all day. He was reported to have dropped off to sleep in front of the TV on Saturday night. That s keen! Calendar Changes and updates may occur, check the website and click on Events for details. Product Safety Recall GME Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) MT400/MT401/MT403 Standard Communications Pty Ltd designs and manufactures a range of Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) marketed globally under the GME brand. Problem After exhaustive testing we have identified a fault in the microprocessor of certain units that effectively shuts the beacon down. We are concerned that the beacon may not work in an emergency situation. Action In consultation with national maritime authorities, Standard Communications has decided to recall certain EPIRBs manufactured between January 2005 and February 2008. The affected units are the MT400, MT401 and MT403 beacons with serial numbers between 50101000 and 80250722. What should you do? If you have a GME EPIRB, please check the model number and serial number. The serial number can be found on the left side of the beacon at the base of the identity panel. If you own one of the affected units listed above, please contact GME at recall@gme.net.au or your local distributor to arrange a replacement of your beacon at no extra charge. Standard Communications would also like to take this opportunity to remind all EPIRB users, regardless of the brand, to regularly test the unit. There should be a simple self-test mechanism on all units. You should also ensure that beacon batteries are replaced at intervals recommended by the manufacturer.
