It is an opportunity for us to celebrate the magic of storytelling and immerse our children in outstanding literature. This year s theme was Find Your Treasure. Our whole school community celebrated in true style on Thursday morning with our Book Parade. Our students and teachers transformed into characters from much loved stories and other worlds. Special thanks go to our librarian Mrs Rajay and all her little helpers for making the morning such a success. Have a great week. Music: Count Us In 1st November 2018 66 Days to Go! ONE SONG 12:00pm Community Event in the School Hall. 66 Days to go! In 66 days MPS will be singing the same song at the same time together with over half a million students across Australia. This year the song is called ONE SONG. Everyone is welcome at this community event in the Mascot Public School Hall on Thursday 1 November at 12:00pm. Parents, students and friends... there is plenty of time to learn the piece so if you play an instrument and would like to be a part, grab a music score from Ms Young (she has them for just about every instrument imaginable) and come and be part of the fun. For more information about this wonderful Music Program go to https://musicaustralia.org.au/program/countusin/ Music education has been proven to improve students literacy, numeracy, school attendance and confidence. Music: Count Us In brings teachers, parents, students and the music industry together in celebration, as more than half a million people unite to sing the same song at the same time, right across the country. Notes from the Music Room Last week notes went home with the girls for the Australian Girls Choir (AGC). AGC will be coming to MPS on Wednesday 5 September at 12:30pm to run a workshop for interested girls in the school hall. Notes can be returned to the office or directly to Ms (Music) Young. There are spare notes in the office or with Ms (Music Young) in the music room. Some students at MPS are already members of this choir. It is a choir from Kindergarten to Year 12 that rehearse on Saturdays at various locations across Sydney, including Annandale and Waverley. The choir sing, dance, play games and also learn to read music from scores each week. ACG do two performances each year as a mass choir and professional dancers work with the kids to do choreographed movement as they sing. There are also other amazing opportunities for the girls to perform as they move through the various levels of the choir. Please see Ms Music Young with any questions. Page 5
