We are in full swing and have a full slate of 48 teams for our Annual Fisher Dodgeball Tournament to be held this Friday, March 23 at 2:00 pm in our Fisher gymnasium. It is an amazing communitybuilding fundraiser that will help generate funds for our Fisher Home and School Club while also providing loads of fun for all. Our staff, along with committee chairperson, Jennifer Saban, and a whole host of parent volunteers, have been integrally involved in the planning of this event. We expect hundreds of spectators will be cheering in the bleachers, as well. Details regarding dinner, admission, raffle tickets, and tickets to the event can be found at http://fisherhsc.com/dodgeball.html. The evening will be fun, lucrative, and will build developmental assets at the same time. I hope we can count on your support and participation. Words from the wise.don t be late! Page 2 Fisher Sports Corner Attention Track Families Track practice began Monday, April 16 at Fisher Middle School. There are some important details about this year s season that you need to know before registering your child. A large portion of the season s practices will be at Los Gatos High School starting at about 4:30 pm. Due to our track being upgraded, we needed to find an alternate facility for this track season only. Los Gatos High School was gracious enough to let us use their field but, with their own spring sport seasons, the time slot was at 4:00/4:15 pm. Some of the practices will be at Fisher MS when LGHS is not available to us. The exact practice schedule is not available yet but we are working on the details. Registration through Los Gatos Recreation for track will go Live TOMORROW, Thursday 3/22 sometime in the late morning. Click here to register: http://www.lgsrecreation.org/home/ online-booking/. Please note there is an additional form (#5) specifically for Track when you go to the Required Forms page. We will also be setting up a parent/coach meeting in the coming weeks prior to the season to go over important details, so stay tuned. Thanks to everyone for your patience and flexibility as we begin the exciting journey that is TRACK!! Boys Soccer The Fisher Boys Varsity Soccer team beat Union 2-0 on Tuesday. The team worked extremely hard and executed very well. With the match being tied 0-0 nearing the end of the 1st half, Jack Saul took advantage of an opportunity, beating the keeper far post, breaking the dead lock. In the second half, Darrius Leto doubled our lead by winning a ball on their defensive half and firing a low strike to the beat the keeper. Coach Miguel Flores stated that he was proud of the boys efforts and for bouncing back after a tough loss against Moreland. Back at it again tomorrow against EDS! Great to see the varsity boys fight in less than ideal weather conditions. Girls Volleyball JV Girls Last Thursday was a miserable rainy night, but it was a great night for the JV Trojans. The JV B Team started the night s games by falling behind to Campbell Middle School in the first set, but drummed up tremendous inspiration by rallying to win the second and final set. Belle Bramer contributed with a herculean effort, serving a whopping 15 consecutive serves to help win the second set and then another monstrous service in the third for the victory. Other memorable performances were the back court play by Katie Steiner and Avery Closser. The JV A Team closed the night with a thriller. The girls fell behind in the first set with a shaky start, but rallied their courage with two come-from-behind wins in the second and third sets. The girls never lost hope with inspirational efforts by Hana Wright and Sarah Drabkin. The Trojans were able to remain undefeated despite an admirable effort from Campbell Middle School. The girls play three big games next week starting Tuesday against Union at Union. Good Luck Trojans! Varsity Girls The Varsity team played a strong Union team at home on Tuesday. The Varsity A team faced some laser serves, but saw some great plays made by Hemani Patel diving on the floor numerous times to dig balls. Katie Wright had a nice block and Reed Ankaitis made some great serves. It was a good effort; however, the A team lost in two games. The Varsity B team also faced great serving by Union, and nearly won the second game with Abby Lo making great saves all over the court. Gwen Schafer also saved a number of tough balls, scoring for Fisher. Campbell McClellan was a star, making passes when it looked like there was no chance of saving a ball. The B team lost 2-0, but it was close. Fisher Varsity has a busy week as they round out the week with home games today (Wednesday) vs. EDS and vs. Moreland on Thursday.
