Sustainable Transportation in Caledon Caledon Official Plan Policy # 3.1.3.8.5 The Town shall work with the Region of Peel, Metrolinx, the City of Brampton, adjacent municipalities and other appropriate jurisdictions to improve public transit, carpooling and other Transportation Demand Management (TDM) to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions from transportation that contribute to climate change 4 4

Corporate Sustainable Transportation Initiatives About A program of Metrolinx Helps employers and commuters transition to sustainable commuting options such as carpooling, walking, cycling, transit A sharing system where bicycles are made available to Town of Caledon staff for short-term use Program Goals Town has particular focus on carpooling Reduce single occupancy vehicle trips to work Support active and healthy living Reduce vehicle trips taken at work and associated greenhouse gas emissions Recent initiatives Promotes Smart Commute campaigns Designated 4 staff carpool parking spaces Created a carpool discussion forum on the Town s intranet page Refreshed program in 2017 by: Streamlined sign up process Revised program Waiver Extended hours of program Organized a staff Bike Share Challenge Program Progress Results as per a 2015 survey: 12% increase in staff that carpool to work compared to 2010 51% of staff are willing to carpool 23% increase in staff awareness Obtained 8 new staff sign ups in 2017 25 staff members attended Bike Share lunch and learn event 7
