NASHVILLE'S PASTIME 2013 TEACHER H A N D B O O K
Dear Reading Club Teacher, Thank you for par cipa ng in the 2013 Nashville Sounds Reading Club! The goal of this eight-week program is to encourage reading as a founda on for learning and provide incen ves for reading that are relevant to your students. A classroom poster has been provided to track your students reading progress. The great thing about this program is that YOU have the flexibility to set the goals for your students. You can assign a number of books, chapters, pages or whatever you feel will be most beneficial to your students success. If you feel that the program design does not adequately mo vate your students, feel free to adapt the program as you see fit. As the students reach second base, they are awarded a cket to a Nashville Sounds game. See below for the cket ordering process. If your school is a ending an evening game, please see your school s Reading Club coordinator to get a copy of the individual cket order form. Distribute one individual cket order form to each student who reaches his/her second base goal. The order form should be returned by the student s parent/guardian to the Nashville Sounds office at least two weeks prior to your school s designated game date. If your school is a ending a day game, you will s ll use the individual cket order form (see your school s Reading Club coordinator for a copy). Distribute one individual cket order form to each student who reaches his/her second base goal. The order form should be returned by the parent/guardian to you (the teacher) at least three weeks prior to your school s designated game date. Once you have collected a form from each par cipa ng student, give the forms to the Reading Club coordinator. The coordinator will submit a group order to the Sounds for all par cipa ng classes in your school. Once the group cket order has been fulfilled by the Sounds box office, all ckets will be sent to the Reading Club coordinator, who will distribute them accordingly. *Note: Once the cket order has been processed by the box office, the game ckets will be mailed to the address provided on the order form if the school has chosen an evening game. If the school has chosen a day game, the ckets will be mailed to the school and distributed by your school s coordinator. If the individual or group cket order has been received by the box office less than five days before the game, the ckets will be available for pick-up on the day of the game at the box office will-call window. If you have any ques ons, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for par cipa ng in the Nashville Sounds Reading Club. We look forward to seeing your school at the ballpark!
