Dear Deeside Members, Spring feels like it is almost here and I hope you are all getting your ponies fit for the Easter Holidays. This is just a short Newsletter in preparation for the busy season ahead of us. It has been great to see our Games Training get off the ground again but we still need more possible team members to come forward any member still wishing to get involved please contact Hazel who will be happily to explain what Games is all about and help you fit into the age group. The dates and arrangements for this specialized training will continue to be sent out as we confirm them but all the other dates for the year can be found in the dates table in this newsletter or on our branch website. http://branches.pcuk.org/deeside. We are still looking for a new Branch Treasurer as after a number of years of excellent work Jackie Wiseman wishes to stand down. Please rack your brains about who could take over. We have lots of things planned for the coming year but please keep your suggestions coming as the committee and I want the Deeside Branch to be your club. Regards Jane. Page 2
RALLIES Remember we still have one in door rally on the 31st March at Loanhead. Mark Smith will be instructing so please get your slips in soon as possible, you find a slip at the end of this Newsletter From April to October rallies are All day rallies and run from 10.30am to 3.30pm at the Pony Club field, Cullerlie Farm Park. With one or two exceptions so keep your eyes peeled to ensure you come to the right place. During an all day rally you will usually ride in the morning and afternoon getting the chance to do flatwork and jumping. Do stable management in preparation for Test Achievement Badges, Quiz and Horse & Pony Care and you will probably have the chance to do games or some other fun activity. You also get a chance to catch up with all your pals over a picnic lunch. In the build up to Summer competitions we also run evening rallies at the field on a set day each week, these have usually been on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 to 8pm. At these sessions you get the opportunity to train in jumping, Dressage and/or Games. To book your place at any rally you need to complete the appropriate Rally Slip and send it with your payment to Jane at least 7 days before the rally date. Rally slips are emailed out, included in the Newsletters and we hope to make them available via the Branch website. INSTRUCTORS LUNCHS AT RALLIES It is a long held tradition that we provide a nice lunch for the Instructors who teach at our branch rallies. Each family takes a turn throughout the year. Lunch doesn t need to be anything fancy. We usually provide sandwiches or filled rolls, some salad, crisps, fruit and nice piece of cake or something sweet. Claire Lane is our lunch co-ordinator and will be contacting people to arrange who can provide lunch on which date and will answer any questions you have about lunch. INDOOR CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING Back by popular demand we have Jennifer Burnett at Fountain Equestrian doing cross country training. To take part in this training you need to be confidently jumping 60cm or over without any assistance. This will be on Monday 2nd April from 10am to 4pm and groups will be up to 4 people organized according to standard. The cost will be 15 per rider in groups of 4. The booking form is at the end of this Newsletter. SECOND HAND CLOTHS SALES Hazel has kindly offered to run the secondhand cloths sales for the branch. Secondhand riding cloths, boots etc. can be handed to Hazel with an indication of how much you would like to sell them for. The club will keep 10% of any sales and you will get cash from Hazel when your things sell. Due to limited storage space Hazel is not able to take tack or other larger equipment but if you prepare an advert and print it out Hazel will keep a folder of all equipment available for sale. Page 3
At each all day rally at the field the Second items and folder will be available for you to look through. If you need anything between rallies Hazel is happy for you to call her to see if she has what you need. To ensure we have second hand sales available at all rallies Hazel is looking for volunteers to help. Please get in touch with Hazel directly if you feel you can help hazelaferguson@aol.com COMPETITION NERC are holding a team show jumping competition on the 21st April at The Cabin, minimums to open.
