Lots of New and Exciting things are happening at Karratha Gymnastics! We have a NEW committee President: Janet Gethin Vice President: Amy Strange Secretary: Michelle Fitzgerald Treasurer: Helen Moyle Registrar: Katherine Hughes Uniforms and Merchandising: Dorothea Lloyd Fundraising Officer: Michelle Day Facilities and Equipment: Gavin Righton OSH Officer: Shayla Prescott Marketing and Publications: Michelle Fitzgerald Club 10: Shona Raudonikis Coaching Coordinator: Janet Nicholson General Committee Members: Bruce Sherman, Amanda Rintoul, Lisa Righton, Carolyn Orr and Katrina Evans We have a NEW training venue We have moved in and hope that you are all enjoying our awesome new training area at Karratha Leisureplex. A huge thanks to all the families who gave up their time to assist the club to relocate. We are sure you have noticed the improvements in the facilities that are now available to our gymnasts including the great observation area. With the change to the Leisureplex came some NEW rules and we would like to thank you all for embracing these. We have NEW rules Parents are reminded that all food and drink is to remain in the observation area. This includes water, tea, coffee etc. It is for the safety of all our gymnasts and to assist us in maintaining our equipment. We have a NEW newsletter The committee believe that you all deserve to know what is going on in your club. We are aiming to do this by producing a regular newsletter for you all. If there is anything you would like to see included in the newsletter please feel free to send your suggestions through to karratha@gymnastics.org.au From The President Welcome to the Karratha Gymnastics Club! It is with excitement and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the start of a new era in our club. For the first time in a long time, we had a full committee voted in at our AGM, and already I can see a difference. Spaces in our classes are starting to be filled, we are having conversations about changing the club leotard and, perhaps, introducing a training leotard, we had a group of gymnasts travel to Perth

last week for State Competition and we are starting to plan some future direction for our club. We are hoping that this newsletter will become a regular event, and will help you know what is happening in YOUR club. There is a lot of great stuff happening... which we need to celebrate. Cheers, Janet Gethin President From The Head Coach Next term all the competition classes will be changing with some old and new coaches joining us. Janet, Shayla, Shanine, Rachel, Lisa, Erin and Tygue will still be coaching. Joining us to take up coaching roles will be Kym, Shaye and Mel. We are looking forward to the changes and all the coaches taking on new levels and taking the club into a new direction. If you are thinking about coaching or would like to know what it involves please see me. States we took 6 gymnasts to Perth to compete in the Go for 2&5 Spring State Championships last weekend. Everyone competed fabulously and represented Karratha Gymnastics Association with pride. NDP Level 2 - Jaicinta Lawrence and Zoe Rintoul. Both received Bronze overall medallions! NDP Level 3 - Hailie Righton. Bronze overall medallion! NDP Level 4 - Imogen Phillips and Hailey Moyle. Both girls got great scores and did a fantastic job. NDP Level 5 - Erin Gethin. Placed 3rd in vault which is a huge achievement! Broome In Oct 5th and 6th we are taking 25 gymnasts to Broome to compete. We have 21 girls and 4 boys competing. We wish them all the best at the competition. Cheers Janet Nicholson Head Coach General We are looking for sponsors who would be interested in assisting us to purchase new signage and banners for the club. We would also like to have the medallions engraved this year and without sponsorship we will be unable to do this. If you are able to assist or know of a business that might be able to assist us please let Dorothea know. Her phone number is 0437 701 116. Please remember to bring your children into their gymnastics class. Coaches are not responsible for the gymnasts until they are called to take the floor.

Presentation Night for Pre-level and Competition Level Gymnasts October 18 th will be this year s presentation night for all our students who are currently in pre-level and competition levels. Invites will be sent out in the next week or so with all the details. Tickets on sale soon. Presentations for the younger gymnasts will be at the end of the year. To make this the best night we need your help: We are currently looking for volunteers who can spare some time to help out on the night decorating and packing away the venue. Donations of decorations balloons, banners, streamers etc. Donations of cakes and other yummy desserts for the night. If you are available can you please phone Dorothea and let her know 0437 701 116. Parent Survey We will be distributing a parent survey to help us improve the service we provide to you. Without feedback we are unable to make changes so would appreciate as many parents completing the survey as possible. A box will be provided at training so you are able to complete and return the survey anonymously if you would like. North West Invitational 25 gymnasts are travelling to Broome during the school holidays to compete in the North West Invitational Competition. We wish them all the best and look forward to their return. We are very lucky at Karratha Gymnastics to have 3 coaches who have achieved their coaching accreditation with Gymnastics Australia. Janet, Lisa and Shayla work with the other coaches to ensure that your children are participating in the best program for their age group and ability. As well as these 3 hard working ladies we have a number of other coaches who are working towards achieving their accreditation as well. With the support of Janet and their hard work, we hope to see our other coaches become accredited during the next few years. As we are sure you are aware we have a lot of students at Karratha Gymnastics and without our coaches and volunteers we would not be able to run such an awesome program. If you have been considering becoming an accredited coach or think that you would like to volunteer some of your time to help keep our programs running please speak to Janet. Without our great staff and volunteers we wouldn t have a club. Over the next few newsletters we will add some more faces to our coaching team for you. Remember a lot of our coaches are volunteers so make sure you show your appreciation. Without them our classes would not run as smoothly.
