As a former Southwest Conference member, TCU is Texas fifth most-common opponent in program history. With UT s 60-43 victory over TCU on Feb. 2, the Horned Frogs became the fifth program that Texas has defeated 100 or more times in school history. Texas is seeking its first road win of the season (0-7). Through Feb. 14, Texas ranks second in the nation in FG percentage defense (.361) and first in 3-point FG percentage defense (.261). The Longhorns are 2-7 in games decided by six points or less or in overtime this year. Texas has used 10 different starting lineups in 25 contests this season. Game 26 at TCU KANSAS POSTGAME NOTES Kansas defeated Texas, 73-47, on Saturday, Feb. 16 in Lawrence, Kan. College GameDay: Saturday s contest in Lawrence was apart of ESPN s College GameDay Driven by State Farm. It marked the seventh appearance by the Longhorns on the popular weekly program since it debuted during the 2004-05 season. The last time Texas was featured in the series came on March 5, 2011 at Baylor (60-54 win by Texas). Series: Kansas now leads the all-time seri es with Texas, 22-7. Texas is 1-11 on the road against Kansas. Starters: Myck Kabongo, Demarcus Holland, Ioannis Papapetrou, Jonathan Holmes and Connor Lammert started on Saturday. It is the second time this starting lineup has been used this season (1-1 record). Texas has had 10 different starting lineups in 25 games. Mihm s record passed: Former Longhorn Chris Mihm s Big 12 career blocked shots record of 264 was passed by KU senior Jeffy Withy, who had two blocks on Saturday. In his first game of the season, Kabongo recorded 13 points (5-10 FG) with seven assists and four rebounds in 35 minutes, before fouling out in the first overtime period. Kabongo led UT in scoring with 13 points on 9-of-10 shooting at the FT line at Kansas (2/16). Kabongo was one of five players named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team this fall. Among the league s returning players entering the 2012-13 season, he had the third-best assist-to-turnover ratio (1.73-to-1). THE KABONGO SITUATION Sophomore point guard Myck Kabongo served a 23- game suspension (two-thirds of season), according to the appeal decision on Dec. 21 by the NCAA Division I Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement. Per the NCAA release, Kabongo accepted airfare, personal training instruction and then provided false and misleading information during two separate interviews with university officials. Senior Andrew Dick (Finance) earned first team distinction, while senior Dean Melchionni (Corporate Communication) and sophomore Jaylen Bond (Education) were named to the second team. It is the first time for all three players to be named Academic All-Big 12. In seven of the last eight years, two or more studentathletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Men s Basketball Team have represented Texas. FIVE ON BIG 12 COMMISSIONER S HONOR ROLL Texas Men s Basketball placed five student-athletes on the Big 12 Commissioner s Honor Roll, released in January. The Felix family was forced to relocate to Atlanta for four months while Javan was in sixth grade due to Hurricane Katrina (August 2005). The family was able to return to New Orleans in January 2006. Prince Ibeh was born in London and lived there for his first five years. He moved with his family to Amarillo, Texas at age five and lived there until he was 10 years old. The family then moved to Dallas when Prince was 10. His parents (Francis and Charity) lived in Mbaise, Nigeria before moving to London in 1987. Prince s middle name is Chinenye (pronounced KEN-yay). The name in Nigerian means god s gift. Prince has three older brothers and one younger sister. Myck Kabongo is the second-youngest among six children. He was born in Lumbaschi, Congo. Kabongo spent his first three years in Congo Republic and then lived in Capetown, South Africa from age 3 to 6. His family moved to Toronto when Kabongo was six years old. Connor Lammert has an older brother, Clark, who is a sophomore on the basketball team at Texas Tech. His father, Dean Lammert, played basketball at Texas A&I University (now called Texas A&M University-Kingsville) from 1980-83. His mother, the former Christi Scherrey, played volleyball at Texas A&I University from 1979-82. OFF THE COURT WITH THE HORNS Julien Lewis was given his name Julien by his parents to honor his maternal grandmother, Julian Woodard. Julien was given his nickname Juice by a close hometown friend when he was 12 years old. Sheldon McClellan is the cousin of Jawan McClellan, a former McDonald s All-American from Houston s Milby HS who played his college basketball at Arizona (2005-08). Dean Melchionni is the son of Gary Melchionni. His father was an All-ACC performer at Duke (1970-73) and a second-round pick of the Phoenix Suns in the 1973 NBA Draft. Dean s brother, Lee, was a four-year letterwinner at Duke (2003-06). Dean s uncle, Bill Melchionni, played college basketball at Villanova and starred in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Nets. Bill s jersey number was retired by both Villanova and the Nets. Ioannis Papapetrou has been given the nickname Papi by his teammates and coaches. His father, Argiris (pronounced are- GEAR-us), played professional basketball in Greece and was an 11-year member of the Greek National Team. His mother, Anastasia (pronounced ann-uh-stay-zee-uh), played soccer competitively in Greece. His older brother, Giorgos (pronounced YOUR-rohce), is a sophomore on the basketball team at Franklin Pierce University, a Division II school in Rindge, N.H.
