DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL BANGALORE NORTH PRIMARY NEWS LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL S DESK October 2016 ANNUAL SPORTS DAY Physical activities play a very vital role in the developmental years of children and as Delhi Public School lays a lot of emphasis on the overall development of the children, it introduces and encourages them to participate in various sports activities. Thus, the Annual Sports Meet 2016 was organised on 27th and 28th October with a lot of pomp and vigor, with many athletic events, scintillating performances, demonstrations of yoga, taekwondo and mallakamba to name a few, for the students of Class I to XII to showcase their sports talent.
The inaugural event of the Sports meet was displayed by the Jazzy Stutters of Class I who marched around the ground with whole lot of enthusiasm and overwhelming energy, waving to the audience. It was indeed a treat to watch them as they marched in 3 different groups wearing green, red and blue costumes respectively. Green color represented the school motto service before self, red represented their energy and enthusiasm and blue represented the sky which meant that sky is the limit for all their dreams, aspirations and ambitions. They later performed a dance drill Motley Rhythms with pom-poms. It was a marvelous spectacle where each group formed the letters D P S with ease. Their drill was followed by various athletic events like the 50mts race, 4 x 50mts. relay and an obstacle race based on the story The Monkey and the Crocodile, using various colorful and appropriate props as obstacles, for both boys and girls.
The Class II students, full of excitement, actively participated in the dance Scintillating Hoops, based on Madagascar theme. Using hulahoops as props for their dance, they slowly but spectacularly formed the Olympic logo. This was followed by their obstacle race based on the theme- Life Cycle of a Butterfly. The little amateur athletes also participated in 50mts. race and 4 x 50mts shuttle relay. The Land Of The Morning Calm has a plethora of dances and the students of Class III, with their infectious enthusiasm jived to a beautiful song from Korea. Turning and twirling in their exuberant costumes with bright colors representing the Korean flag, the students moved around gracefully in circles, to show how beautiful and colorful ribbons symbolize grace and harmony. The talented athletes showcased brilliant performance in the 100mts race, obstacle race and 4x100mts Shuttle Relay. The free wheelers of Class IV danced to the foot tapping music of Brazil. The crowning glory of this performance was the formation, which was a unique star which highlighted the beauty and intricacy of the flag. Participating in events like, 100mts, 200mts, 400mts and 4 x 100mts relay, the athletes of this class were thrilling to watch.
Class V students presented an enthralling show named 'The Gallant Gladiators' in the form of a dance drama in zorba style of Greek folk dance, which displays the gallant and chivalrous nature of the gladiators of Greece. Followed by yoga demonstration, the students of Class V not only highlighted the importance of yoga in today s stressful life but it also emphasized on the holistic and diverse benefits that yoga brings in their lives. Children presented many asanas signifying the role of yoga and meditation that helps in the overall development. There were many track and field events that the athletes of Class V participated in, like 100mts, 200mts, 400mts and relay. The event was a mega success. Kudos to all the hard work and efforts put in by the students and teachers! This grand gala event has left behind a lot of memories for the performers as well as the audience, which will be cherished for a long time to come.
COMPETITION AT VISHWA VIDYAPEETH Creativity is intelligence having fun Albert Einstein. The selected few creative students of Class 1 to 8, participated in Festival of Creativity & Artistic Evaluation at Vishwa Vidyapeeth, on 22nd Oct 2016. The enthusiasm and determination of these young minds, led to them winning many laurels for the school. Seven, out of the ten events were won by the students of DPS,BN!!!
