1 NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL Presents DANCE OFF 2010 FRIDAY, APRIL 30, :00 PM TO 9:00 PM NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM 12 Malvern Avenue All TCDSB high school dance teams are invited to participate in Notre Dame High School s fourth board wide invitational dance competition. We are very excited to host this event again. Part of the proceeds of this event will go to the Me-To-We organization to support needy school children in Africa. The registration deadline has been extended to Friday, March 12, Registration forms and competition information packages have been sent out to all the schools. If your team is interested in participating, please complete the attached team registration forms. Each member of the dance team must complete a permission form, health form, and a media consent form. There is a registration fee of $50 that will help cover facility use, equipment use, security, prizes, water, and stipends for judges. Please make cheques payable to Notre Dame High School. Family and friends are invited to watch the competition. The admission fee is $5. For more information, please contact Lily Capalad, Notre Dame High School, at (voic 80970) or by lilyann.capalad@tcdsb.org The following are the rules and regulations: General Rules - No more than 3-12 people performing on stage. - All participating teams must have a teacher moderator present at all times. (This includes rehearsals, auditions, and the competition itself.) - All participating teams must have the permission and support of their school principal and teacher moderator. - The first 20 teams to meet the qualifications will be entered into the competition. - A school may be allowed more than one representing team as long as each individual team is accompanied by a teacher and has the principal s permission. - Any set or props needed must be provided and notified in the specified section of the registration form.
2 Decorum & Attire - All members of dance teams are representatives of their school and are expected to demonstrate behaviour reflective of the values of the Toronto Catholic District School Board. - Any clothing worn should be comfortable to ensure safety in movement. - No offensive language or images should be displayed on clothing worn. - Clothing must be tasteful, respectful, and modest. Stage Dimensions: 23 feet by 12.5 feet Judging Criteria Music - THIS IS STRICTLY AN AMATEUR CONTEST! - Judging will be based on: - Creativity and choreography - Stage presence and Showmanship - Entertainment factor - Appropriate music selection -Please refer to the attached rubric. - All music must be void of swearing or vulgar content. - Performances must be no longer than 4 minutes. Any infraction will greatly affect judging. - This is NOT just another secular dance contest. There are appropriate gestures and movements that can be handled tastefully and with class. - A copy of the performance track must be submitted with the registration form, if possible. The CD will be retained by us; please ensure you come prepared with your own copy. If this is not possible, you may send the track via to lilyann.capalad@tcdsb.org. Deadlines - Registration deadline extension: Friday, March 12, Late entries will be disregarded. - Registration forms may be sent through the board courier (to the attention of Ms. Lily Capalad, NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL) or by to lilyann.capalad@tcdsb.org. The registration fee ($50) may be sent through the board courier. Please do not send cash. Please make cheques payable to Notre Dame High School. - You will receive notification of your entry into the competition upon receipt of the registration form via board . Please make sure you include your address with the registration form. - All performances must be completed by the date of the Technical Rehearsal. - The exact Technical Rehearsal date is yet to be determined. This rehearsal will likely take place in the week of April 5. Teams will be notified once registration has been completed. All information must be completed, including signatures and CD. Incomplete registration forms will be returned.
