PAGE 4 OF 8 GOLF TIP OF THE MONTH EMBEDDED BALL By Jamie Fordyce, PGA When you find your ball embedded in a greenside bunker, the last thing you should do is panic; the shot can be a lot easier than it looks. You have to evaluate the lie to determine the type of shot you can play. Some lies will come out high and soft and others will come out low and fast. Balls that are embedded in the face of the bunker will usually come out high and soft, while balls embedded in the bottom of the bunker usually come out low and fast, making it difficult to stop them on the green. To make sure you hit down on the ball, play the ball back in your stance with the clubface slightly closed and the shaft a little forward. When the ball is embedded in the face, you will need to swing hard to get the ball out of its hole; don t swing as hard when the ball is on a flat spot. Sometimes the lie can be so difficult that the best you can do is play sideways. You always want to make your next shot easier than your last shot. FROM THE RECIPE BOOK OF CHEF RICARDO ROBINSON BRUSCHETTA APPETIZER Yield: 4 Servings Cut plum tomatoes to a medium dice, discard the ends. Put diced tomatoes in a colander to drain excess water. In blender, combine olive oil, basil, and garlic and blend till smooth. Be sure to leave a couple of leaves of basil to cut for garnish. In a medium size bowl combine diced tomatoes, basil mixture, parmesan cheese along with salt and pepper and mix well. Taste. Chill bruschetta for a couple of hours before serving. PAGE 7 OF 8 3 QUEENS AND A KING MARCH 11, 2012 END OF SEASON PARTY APRIL 29, 2012 The End of Season Party will be held in the PGA Education Center Ballroom, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on Sunday, April 29th. Because the membership has grown to over 500 members (including golf and social), the pool area at the PGA Country Club can no longer accommodate the number of attendees anticipated. Relocating the event to a venue with more space will ultimately mean a better, more comfortable experience for members. SAVE THE DATE May 27, 2012.Memorial Day Tournament
