Lockwood subsequently reported that following the disappointing performance of SUSURRI, an x-ray had revealed a lump on the near shin that had sustained a small fracture line. Mr Lockwood indicated that veterinary advice had recommended that no treatment was required other than to send the filly for an 8 to 12 week spell.
Race 1: Green Options Racing Pty Ltd Benchmark 95 H Cap 1200m BURNING PASSION was inspected by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the course and passed fit to race. SAVOUREUX A little slow to begin. JIMMY REA Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 2: Programmed Property Services Lord Mayor s Group 3 Cup 1600m DUCA VALENTINOIS Shifted out under pressure in the straight. I M BELUCCI When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages jockey J. Byrne stated it was not his intention to lead on I M BELUCCI however, with the blinkers today the horse raced keenly in the early stages and he allowed it to stride forward. Trainer Ms D. Forster indicated that she would consider removing the blinkers prior to the horse s next start. COL N LIL When questioned regarding the improved performance of the mare trainer B. Currie stated that the tempo of today s race was more suitable than that at the Gold Coast. Mr Currie added he was of the opinion today s track conditions were more to the liking of the mare than as compared to the firm track at its previous start. RELIGIFY When questioned regarding the disappointing performance jockey H. Bowman stated that the only explanation he could offer was that the gelding is better suited on firmer tracks. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Lost a near fore plate in running. Race 3: Mitavite BRC Sires Produce Group 2 Stakes 1400m NOBLE HUSSLER Slow to begin. CHAMP ELECT Checked soon after the start when buffeted between SHOWASHADOW and MARSEILLE EN FLEUR. TANGLED Hampered soon after the start when bumped heavily by SHOWASHADOW. Jockey K. McEvoy reported that his mount failed to handle the track conditions today. SAINT PATRICKS DAY Approaching the 1200m had to be eased to avoid the heels of MELODY BELLE, which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey R. Stewart reported his mount hung in throughout the race. SHOWASHADOW Approaching the 1000m raced ungenerously and improved into a narrow run between TANGLED and SAINT PATRICKS DAY and as a consequence had to be checked.
EMINENT Inconvenienced passing the 1000m. CAPITAL GAIN Held up and unable to improve approaching and rounding the home turn. TAKING AIM Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. QIJI PHOENIX Raced 3 wide throughout. RUBY RED HEART A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly had pulled up lame in the off fore leg, with swelling over the inside sesamoid area. Trainer J. Zielke was that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to the filly racing again. ALL TOO HUIYING A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have sustained a wound to the off fore pastern. Race 4: Channel Seven Premier s Group 3 Cup 2200m THE CHAIRMAN was inspected by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the course and passed fit to race. AUVRAY Trainer R. Freedman advised the horse, which led last start, would be ridden more conservatively today if circumstances permit. After beginning well the horse was ridden forward to the lead. Stewards opened an inquiry into an incident approaching the winning post on the first occasion. It was established that MISTER IMPATIENCE, MORENDI and FELTRE were all tightened for room and had to be checked when racing to the inside of JUMBO PRINCE, which hung in and away from AUVRAY, which at the same time was shifting in. Whilst it was acknowledge that jockey B. Shinn (JUMBO PRINCE) had endeavoured to relieve the tightening to the runners to his inside he was prevented from doing so by AUVRAY, which was racing to his outside. In all the circumstances stewards could not attribute blame to either B. Shinn (JUMBO PRINCE) or T. Berry (AUVRAY) and therefore no action was taken. KAISER FRANZ Raced 3 wide without cover until obtaining cover behind ZAMBEZI WARRIOR near the 1000m. When questioned regarding the improved performance today trainer R. Heathcote stated that he was at a loss to explain the gelding s previous effort at Doomben however, the gelding had raced well at Eagle Farm at its previous start. ZAMBEZI WARRIOR Raced 4 wide without cover in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward and obtain a position 3 wide outside the leaders near the 1000m. Jockey R. Fradd (KAISER FRANZ) was fined $500 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards took into account jockey Fradd s good record, guilty plea and the totality of strikes in the home straight. Race 5: Mullins Lawyers Grand Prix Group 3 Stakes 2200m LYRIDS Brushed the running rail and became unbalanced passing the winning post on the
first occasion. DAZZLE EM SID Raced wide without cover from the 1600m. VOLATILE MIX Near the 500m was forced wider. VELADERO Raced wide without cover. A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have a slower than normal recovery rate. PRIZED ICON A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards will interview trainer J. Cummings regarding today s performance. REGINE - A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Race 6: Glenlogan Park Group 3 Stakes 1300m SOLD FOR SONG Trainer K. Kemp advised the intention was for the horse to be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. The horse settled midfield. TURBO MISS Slow to begin. ALASKAN ROSE Slow to begin. MYSTIC OPAL Bumped on jumping. CAVALOCE Jumped away awkwardly. MANAYA Bumped on jumping. JUST A BLUR Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when tightened for room between runners. RAIMENT Raced wide without cover throughout. THAMES COURT Raced wide without cover throughout. SAGARONNE Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey O. Bosson the rider of EGYPTIAN SYMBOL pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift out when not fully clear of MANAYA, resulting in that runner having to be checked and blundering near the 400m. Jockey Bosson s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days to commence midnight 27 May 2017 and expire midnight 7 June 2017. Stewards were of the opinion that this incident was at the midrange of carelessness. Race 7: Darley Kingsford-Smith Group 1 Cup 1300m TYCOON TARA was inspected by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the course and passed fit to race.
BLACK HEART BART Connections advised the horse would be ridden more conservatively today if circumstances permit. The horse raced towards the rear of the field. Had to be steadied away from heels passing the 1000m. UNDER THE LOUVRE Shortly after the start was tightened for room and had to be checked. CLEARLY INNOCENT Tightened for room shortly after the start. COUNTERATTACK Tightened for room shortly after the start. MUSIC MAGNATE Raced ungenerously in the early stages when wide. Jockey R. Stewart the rider of HOPFGARTEN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 1000m when not fully clear of DERRYN, which had to be checked. Jockey Stewart s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 28 May 2017 and expire midnight 6 June 2017. Stewards were of the opinion that this incident was at the low range of carelessness. Race 8: Sky Racing Fred Best Group 3 Classic 1400m Trainer B. Stanley was fined $100 for failing to present to the document of description for CRITICAL THINKING. CRITICAL THINKING Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with another runner. Bumped shortly after the start. MORTON S FORK Bumped heavily on jumping and was then taken outwards. SOCIAL CONQUEST Had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between runners. RIVER RACER Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out bumping another runner. DREAMS APLENTY Had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between runners and lost ground. VOLPINO Near the 250m had to be steadied when tightened for room. ASTARA Approaching the 200m had to be steadied when tightened for room. App T. Brooker the rider of DREAMS APLENTY pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift out when not fully clear of TESSERA, resulting in that runner having to be checked near the 200m. App Brooker s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 3 June 2017 and expire midnight 11 June 2017. Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was at the low scale of carelessness

Doyle reported that his mount travelled comfortably but failed to finish the race off as expected, which he attributed to the heavy track. RIVER RACER Lost an off hind plate in running. A patron ran from the outside of the track to the inside in front of a runner near the 200m.
