Quick Spur jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 1000 metres, Cracked was tightened between Danger Close and Wild Erp, which momentarily rolled out. In the incident, Danger Close got its head up on a number of occasions. For most of the event, Cracked raced wide without cover. Near the 400 metres, Quick Spur was momentarily tightened by Wild Erp. Rounding the home turn and when under pressure in the home straight, Thanks A Million lay out. Near the 150 metres, Danger Close was inconvenienced when Cracked shifted out away from Cavallino Rampante, which also shifted ground. Race 2 SHEREE, WILL YOU MARRY ME? MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: Fontainette was a late withdrawal at 7.04pm on veterinary advice, after the mare flipped over in the horse stall area. All monies bet for a win and /or place and concession betting onfontainette to be refunded. All successful bets on the horses prior to the time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets 1 cent, place bets (winner) 2 cents, place bets (second) 5 cents, place bets (third) 9 cents. Trappy s Boy was slow to leave the gates and lost ground (2 lengths). Copper Vision and Tap In Birdie were slow to begin. Passing the 1100 metres, Tap In Birdie, which was over racing, got its head up and was checked from the heels of Gunna Excel (B Evans), which shifted in when not clear. B Evans was reprimanded. For some distance after this incident Tap In Birdie continued to over race.
On a number of occasions passing the 1100 metres, Godson got its head up when being restrained. On two occasions passing the 800 metres, Gunna Excel was bumped by More Than A Dream (D Oliver), which was attempting to shift out. D Oliver was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. For most of the event, Copper Vision raced wide without cover. For a short distance after the 400 metres and over the final 150 metres of the event, Tap In Birdie had difficulty obtaining clear running. Passing the 50 metres, Intune and Trappy s Boy bumped when both horses shifted ground. Race 3 HIGHVIEW ACCOUNTING SERVICES 0-58 HANDICAP - 1400 metres: The start of the race was delayed when The Tyrant and Orianthi had to be resaddled. Boltonian and Kempside were slow to begin. Passing the 1200 metres, Niarchos was steadied from the heels of Miasheeny Ruby, which shifted in. For some distance passing the 1000 metres, Boltonian, which was over racing, was awkward when close to the heels of Niarchos. Passing the 900 metres, Miasheeny Ruby got its head up when being steadied from the heels of Classic Flavour (D Oliver), which had shifted in. As a consequence The Tyrant, which was following, was checked. In considering the matter, account was taken of the racing manners of Miasheeny Ruby, however; D Oliver was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure he gives sufficient clearance when shifting ground. For a short distance approaching the 800 metres, Niarchos badly over raced and when being restrained, shifted in away from Catawampus, resulting in Orianthi and Dramastic being checked. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Passing the 500 metres, Orianthi was momentarily awkward on the heels of Catawampus. Rounding the home turn, when being shifted to the outside of Niarchos, Kempside brushed Crown Gem, resulting in that horse shifting out and causing some inconvenience to Glamour Planet (NZ). Near the 200 metres, The Tyrant and Catawumpus bumped when both horses shifted ground. Approaching the 50 metres, The Tyrant shifted out and bumped Catawumpus. Race 4 SEN 1116 F&M MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres: Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the circumstances regarding trainer J Gaffney failing to scratch Chimes At Midnight by the prescribed time, which resulted in the elimination of Mrs Bean (third emergency). Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of Danestroem at 3.45pm, when it was reported by trainer I Hutchins that the filly had an elevated temperature. Mr Hutchins was advised that a veterinary certificate to that effect must be submitted.
The start of the race was delayed considerably due to a technical issue with the track lighting, which was subsequently established to have been caused by a blown fuse. The start of the race was rescheduled to commence at 9.00pm. On leaving the gates, Moreau, which had been slow to begin, was hampered when Pureminx shifted out. In the early and middle stages, Moreau over raced. When being steadied from the heels of Mucho Caliente passing the 900 metres, Misscatelli shifted in and bumped Barely A Secret. Near 200 metres, Barely A Secret, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied when Pureminx lay in. When under pressure in the home straight, both Black Booker and Mucho Caliente had a tendency to lay in. C Robertson, rider of Cerastium, which performed poorly, explained that the filly did not appreciate tonight s firm track and may be at the end of its preparation. A subsequent veterinary examination of Cerastium did not reveal any obvious abnormality. Race 5 DE BORTOLI WINES 0-62 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: The explanation tendered by K Newby, trainer of More Black Magic, for the late declaration of J McNeil as the rider of the mare, was accepted. The start of the race was rescheduled to start at 9.25pm. Marlgeo and Dance For Cash were slow to begin. On leaving the gates, Coupe Express dipped. For most of the event, Browneyedhawk raced wide without cover. Near the 500 metres, Dance For Cash was steadied when momentarily tightened between Browneyedhawk and More Black Magic, both of which shifted ground. Rounding the home turn, Marlgeo was inconvenienced when Queen Sybil shifted out. D Holland, rider of Dance For Cash, which performed poorly, reported that his mount was slow to begin and received interference near the 500 metres, which in his opinion, may have contributed to its poor performance tonight. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality. Race 6 W & M CABINETS SHOWCASE BM72 HANDICAP - 2025 metres: The start of the race was rescheduled to start at 9.50pm. Taxi Joe began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Simple Choice. For a short distance passing the 600 metres, Richoman and Mossailey raced tight to the inside of Border Express (D Holland). D Holland was advised that he must make a greater effort to give runners to his inside sufficient racing room in similar circumstances.
When under pressure in the straight, Simple Choice hung in and passing the 200 metres brushed Border Express, which became unbalanced and again near the 50 metres, shifted in, causing slight inconvenience to Mossailey, which brushed the rail. J Lyon (Titus Vinius) reported that his mount was inclined to lay in when under pressure in the straight, placing him at a slight disadvantage in riding the gelding out. A Mallyon, rider of Richoman, reported that his mount was pressured for the lead passing the 1000 metres and this had affected its chances when placed under pressure in the straight, where the gelding gave ground. M Zahra, rider of Taxi Joe, which was having its first run from a spell in almost twelve months, reported that the gelding will be better suited with more racing. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality. Race 7 TAB 0-58 HANDICAP - 1600 metres: The start of the race was rescheduled to start at 10.15pm. African Diva began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Earl Of Pembroke. Horse Fly was slow to begin. For a short distance passing the 1300 metres, Cousin Andy was awkward on the heels of Stab Pass. Just on straightening, Kings A Star became unbalanced when racing tight between Deebond, which shifted in slightly and Tayla Lee, which was laying out. From passing the 400 metres until on straightening, Cousin Andy was held up for a run. Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, Endless Pleasure had difficulty in obtaining clear running. M Zahra (Delightful Isabel) reported that on jumping away his saddle shifted back and as a result he raced further back in the field than anticipated. Race 8 PROCON DEVELOPMENTS SHOWCASE BM72 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: The start of the race was rescheduled to start at 10.40pm. Backen Lay began awkwardly. Danz Boy reared and landed awkwardly, unbalancing M Allen. As a result Danz Boy lost some ground (2 lengths). Western Hero raced wide for the majority of the race without cover. For several strides rounding the home turn, Danz Boy was held up for clear running and then near the 150 metres, when laying in, was reluctant to come to the outside of Zerosixhundred (NZ). R Booth (Dimi The Dancer) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR137(a), in that passing the 100 metres, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Adams Bell, resulting in that horse losing its rightful running and having to be checked. R Booth s licence to ride in races was suspended for a total of 12 meetings, commencing midnight 20 October, 2012and expiring
midnight 31 October, 2012. (2 metro, 10 provincial). In assessing penalty, the Stewards was of the view the incident qualified for the mid range category of carelessness and took into account R Booth s guilty plea. D Oliver (Western Hero) reported that his mount commenced to give ground passing the 600 metres and did not feel right in its action when placed under pressure. Subsequently, Western Hero was eased down in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of Western Hero did not reveal any obvious abnormality.
