Basketball Miss Mace has been busily putting new and old players into basketball teams ready for next term. This is a big task as many aspects need to be considered. Miss Mace is trying to make the teams fair, whilst also trying to meet the requests made by parents and students alike. Please understand that this can be a tricky job and that at the end of the day, basketball is about having fun and experiencing a great game. NB: We are still looking for coaches for the teams. If you are able to assist, please let Miss Mace know ASAP. Coaches are responsible for training and running the team on. If you are able to train a team that isn't already doing so, please organise with the coach. MINIBOLTS DEVELOPMENT SQUAD FOR PRIMARY AGED PLAYERS Tamworth Basketball will be running a Development Squad for primary aged boys and girls Monday afternoons starting on the 20 th June until the 25 th July. The Squad will then restart on the 9 th August until the end of Term 3. These are skills based sessions teaching basic fundamentals for all players. Also for players considering playing Rep Basketball in 2017, this is a great way to prepare for the Under 12 (players born 2006/2007) Thunderbolt try outs to be held towards the end of the year. Sessions run from 4.30-5.30pm and cost is $3.00 per session.

For the first time in Australia we re hosting a week long talent identification camp. Last time we hosted a TID, we had over 90 kids come and try the sport, but this time we re focusing on continuing the success and giving kids an opportunity to do diving training for an entire week, not just one day. The day is run by the NSWIS Diving Program under our coaches Chava Sobrino (four time Olympic coach, coached Matt Mitcham to gold in Beijing), Joel Rodriguez (two time Olympian and world championship silver medallist) and Vyninka Arlow (two time Olympian, Commonwealth Games gold medallist), so all the athletes are learning from the best in the sport. There s also no need to have necessary diving experience, it s all about getting involved on the day and trying something new. It s a great initiative for kids who are looking to take up a sport that is fun, takes a lot courage and is one of the Olympic Games most recognisable events. If you re interested, please register at vyninka.arlow@nswis.com.au Thank you.
