The Leopards (10-13, 3-5) take on Army (17-6, 6-2) for the second time this season at 7 p.m. inside Christl Arena. Lafayette dropped a heartbreaker to Navy, 60-52, in overtime on Saturday afternoon in Easton. The Leopards are 23-30 against the Black Knights in their history and dropped the last meeting on Jan. 16 at Kirby Sports Center, 63-43. LEOPARDS LAST TIME OUT A week removed from its upset of Patriot League-leading American, Lafayette brought that same fight to Kirby Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the result was different as Navy snapped the Leopards three-game win streak, 60-52, in overtime. The game was a tale of three periods as the first-half was dominated by missed shots and turnovers. Lafayette led 20-16 at the break, holding Navy to a tie of its lowest-scoring half of the season. In the second, it was the opposite as Navy doubled its first-half total with 32 points to Lafayette s 28. In the overtime, it was all Navy as the Leopards managed just four points on 2-of-7 shooting compared to the Mids 12 on 4-of-6 from the floor. It was Senior Day in Easton as senior co-captain Alicia Manning came up with multiple key shots toward the end of regulation to help the Leopards force overtime. She finished with a season-high 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and went 2-for-3 from behind the three-point line. Fellow senior Samantha Jordan added two points and a rebound, while classmate Ashley Springer finished with two boards, an assist and a steal. Sophomore Maddie Peabody notched a career-high with 10 points and Homan was the third Leopard in double figures with 12. Sophomore cocaptain Emily Homan added four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal to round out her stat line. Lafayette held a 42-41 advantage on the PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP No. Pos. For Navy, preseason Patriot League player of the year Jade Geif led all scorers with 19 points, 15 of which came in the second half and overtime. Membreno also added 18 for the Mids on 8-of-12 shooting from the field (66.6%). SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS Army wrapped up the first round of Patriot League play tied with American for second in the conference standings. The Black Knights currently have a 17-6 record overall and are 6-2 in the Patriot League. They opened conference play with four straight wins, wins over Lafayette (63-43), Bucknell (68-60), Navy (53-42) and Colgate (51-48). Army then lost to American (45-42) and Holy Cross (51-46) in back-to-back outings before righting itself with wins (61-56) and (44-35). Kelsey Minato has made quite the name for herself in her freshman season. The rookie is sixth in the league in scoring (12.0) and third in three-point field goal percentage (.376). She has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week seven times this season. ROAMING THE SIDELINE Lafayette head coach Dianne Nolan enters today s matchup with a career record of 546-470 and a 29-54 mark in her third year at Lafayette. On the other side, Army head coach Dave Magarity is in his seventh season with the Knights, holding a career record of 116-86, all. Senior co-captain Alicia Manning showed her leadership on Saturday afternoon as she hit key shots down the stretch to force the game into overtime. Manning notched a season-high 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and went 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. She currently sits 10th on Lafayette s all-time list in three-point field goals made with 44. Manning scored five of her 10 points in the final 47 seconds to send the game into a third session. FOUND A PEANUT Sophomore guard Maddie Peabody has taken advantage of her increased minutes over the past few games with Brya Freeland out due to a back injury. Peabody notched career-highs in minutes with 28 each in the wins over Lehigh and Colgate and dropped a then-career-high nine points against the Mountain Hawks. Against Colgate, she set another career mark, this time in rebounds, as the 5 5 guard went in among the trees and ripped down six boards. Her jumper from the right elbow with 1:39 remaining helped seal the win over American on Feb. 2. Peabody continues to come into her own as the second half of the Patriot League season moves along. She notched a new career-high with 10 points in the overtime loss to Navy on Saturday, also tallying a season-high four field goals, including two in final four minutes to send the game to an extra session. Lafayette has posted a higher number in the second half compared to the first in 15 of its 22 games in 2012-13. Against Providence (12/30), the Leopards doubled their first-half output in the second, putting up 36 points in the final 20 minutes compared to 18 points in the opening stanza. Additionally, the overtime loss to Navy was Lafayette s first loss this season when leading going into the halftime break. TOUGH STRETCH Through the early part of the second half of the Patriot League schedule, the Leopards have come upon the hardest stretch of games on their 2012-13 schedule. After back-toback games against League leaders, the Leopards go on the road this week to face the number two and four teams in the League with Army Wednesday and Bucknell on Saturday. PARDS ARE ROLLIN The Lafayette men s and women s basketball teams have hit their strides at the same time through the second half of the Patriot League season. The men have won four of their last five, taking down Holy Cross, Lehigh, Colgate and Navy and falling to American. The women have won three of their last four with wins over the Mountain Hawks, Raiders and Eagles and an overtime loss to Navy on Saturday afternoon. THE ALL-TIME SERIES Army holds a 30-23 advantage in a series that dates back to Nov. 26, 1983. The Leopards are 14-11 when the teams convene at Kirby Sports Center, where the Black Knights won their first since 2009 on Feb. 8, 2012, 62-47. Lafayette is 8-18 when the teams play in West Point, having not won in New York since Feb. 10, 1999. Army took the first meeting this season, with a commanding 63-43 win inside Kirby Sports Center. POSTAL WORKERS The starting frontcourt of Danielle Fiacco and Emily Homan were the first set of teammates in Lafayette history to each record 200 rebounds in a season in 2011-12. Fiacco and Homan were also the first Leopards tandem to each net 300 points in the same season since Vanessa Van De Venter 08 (361 points) and Emily Garner 09 (325) in the 2006-07 campaign. This season, the tandem of Fiacco and Homan, along with Kelly Loughney, a transfer from NYU, has been a consistent force for the Leopards in the low block once again. Homan holds the team lead in scoring with 10.9 points per contest, while Fiacco is averaging 10.4 points per game. Fiacco and Homan also lead the squad on the glass with eight and seven boards per contest, respectively. Loughney is tallying 4.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game this season, as well as 11 blocks. DOUBLE UP Junior Danielle Fiacco and sophomore co-captain Emily Homan have been stellar during their 2012-13 campaigns, notching six double-doubles, respectively in their first 22 games. Fiacco s last feat occurred against Brown on Jan. 5 when she tallied 12 points and 12 2012-13 GAME NOTES 3 LAFAYETTE WOMEN S BASKETBALL

HISTORY AT THE HELM In its first 23 games of the 2012-13 season, the Leopards have faced a multitude of iconic head coaches. Lafayette has faced seven coaches with 25+ years of coaching experience in Harry Perretta (35, Villanova), Jim Foster (35, Ohio State), Agnes Berenato (29, Pittsburgh), Stephanie Gaitley (27, Fordham), John Thurston (26, St. Francis Brooklyn), Jean Marie Burr (25, Brown) and Bill Gibbons (27, Holy Cross). BACK TO FORM Sophomore co-captain Emily Homan, who nursed a sprained ankle through the first three games, has returned to being a consistent force for the Leopards low post game in Patriot- League play. She recorded a double-double in the 66-63 defeat of St. Francis Brooklyn on Dec. 21 (18 pts., 12 reb.) and another in the 68-64 loss to Rider on Nov. 27 (18 pts., 10 reb.). Her third double-double of the season came in a 54-50 win over Fordham (14 pts., 13 reb.). She started her first game of the season against Penn State, leading the Leopards with 11 points and six boards in 30 minutes of play at State College. Sophomore co-captain Emily Homan and junior Madeline Fahan led the way for Lafayette, each notching 10 points for the game. Homan was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year following the conclusion of the 2011-12 season, as voted upon by the league s head coaches. She led all freshmen in points, rebounds, blocks and free throw percentage during league play. IN THE BEGINNING Dianne Nolan has used eight different starting lineups in 2012-13. The Leopards utilized 13 starting fives in 2011-12 and 17 different lineups in 2010-11, the highest number of unique starting fives in all of Division I. Lafayette used the same starting five in each of its first three contests and a then-healthy Homan replaced Loughney against Penn State. Against Wagner, Freeland and Peabody replaced Fahan and O Hare in the backcourt, though O Hare still played 12 minutes and Fahan saw 26 minutes of action. O Hare replaced Peabody against St. Francis Brooklyn and came up with her best performance of the season to that point with 11 points, four rebounds and four assists. Loughney started in place of Homan at Columbia following an injury sustained in warm-ups. Homan returned to the game to lead the Leopards in scoring (16) and rebounds (13) in the win. Against Bucknell, Freeland sat due to a back injury and Liddle got the start to match up with the speed of the Bison, as Fiacco came off the bench for just the 13th time in her 69 games played. The Leopards were short-handed at Holy Cross as Fiacco and Freeland were both out due to illness and injury, respectively, while Homan was limited to just seven minutes of action by illness as well. It was Senior Day at Kirby Sports Center this past Saturday, so Lafayette s three upperclassmen Ashley Springer, Samantha Jordan and co-captain Alicia Manning started in place of Liddle, Macklin and Fahan. DIAPER DANDIES Dubbed by ESPN.com as one of the great New York City point guards, freshman Jamie O Hare has led an incoming class of four on College Hill this season. Joining O Hare are forwards Jazmin Hayes and Annette Snow and guard Morgan Miller. O Hare started at point guard in the first five games this season and came off the bench 2012-13 GAME NOTES 5 LAFAYETTE WOMEN S BASKETBALL

LAFAYETTE LEOPARDS against Wagner. She returned to her starting role against St. Francis Brooklyn and hasn t looked back. Going 8-for-14 from the floor, she tallied a career-high 19 points on Jan. 13 against Navy in her Patriot League debut. Snow saw her share of minutes throughout the non-conference schedule, making her mark on the defensive end. Snow saw seven minutes of action at Penn State, scoring her first bucket as a Leopard and stuffing Penn State s stellar guard Maggie Lucas twice in transition. Against Monmouth, she played five minutes, scoring a career-high three points and snagging one rebound. Most recently, she played four minutes versus Bucknell, ripping down one rebound. Hayes saw her first action as a Leopard versus Penn State, notching three minutes of play and providing some depth to the Lafayette frontcourt. Her first points came at Ohio State as she hit a short jumper from the baseline and finished with those two and a rebound. Miller has seen game action against both Ohio State and Brown. BLOCK PARTY Danielle Fiacco, the nation s third-most prolific shot blocker this season became the first player in Patriot League history with over 100 blocks in a season in 2011-12. Fiacco s 112 rejections were both Lafayette and Patriot League singleseason records, while her career tally of 265 stuffs is the Lafayette career mark and the third-highest total in League history. Fiacco also holds the Lafayette and Patriot League single-game record of 12 blocks, attained on Dec. 28, 2010 against Quinnipiac. Fiacco came up with a six-block performance against Penn State to put her over the 200 mark for her career. Following a one-block performance versus Navy, she currently sits at 82 for the season and 265 for her career. Additionally, sophomore Emily Homan joins Fiacco in the top 3 in the Patriot League for blocks this season, sitting third with 1.7 per contest. Against American, Homan tied a career-high with five stuffs to bring her season total to 33. The duo s contributions on the defensive end have made Lafayette the third-best team in the nation in the blocks category. NO CUPCAKES The Leopards non-conference schedule featured two top-25 and NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago. Most notably, Penn State was ranked No. 9 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and Associated Press Top 25 polls and Ohio State was ranked No. 20 in both polls. Additionally, Villanova has received votes in the AP poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll throughout this season. Single-Season Blocks, Lafayette History 1. Danielle Fiacco (2011-12)... 112 2. LAFAYETTE LEOPARDS HEAD COACH DIANNE NOLAN Dianne Nolan is in her third season as head coach of the Lafayette women s basketball program. Nolan, who owns 34 seasons of head coaching experience, boasts a career record of 546-470, which ranks her 18th in victories among active Division I head coaches and 40th all-time in the Division I ranks. The Leopards posted an 8-22 mark in Nolan s second campaign while introducing several promising newcomers to the collegiate game. Emily Homan 15 was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year after leading all freshmen in points, rebounds, blocked shots and free throw percentage during league play. The 2011-12 Leopards also established a new program and Patriot League record with 188 blocked shots. The club ranked second in the nation, trailing only eventual national champion Baylor, with 6.3 rejections per game. In her first season at the helm, Nolan led the Leopards to an 11-19 record - a five-win improvement from the previous season - while dramatically increasing the excitement surrounding the program on College Hill. The fifth head coach in Lafayette history, Nolan coached a pair of All-Patriot League players: second-team honoree LaKeisha Wright 11 and Patriot League All- Rookie Team member Danielle Fiacco 14. Prior to taking the helm at Lafayette, Nolan spent three seasons as an assistant at Yale University, including her final campaign in 2009-10 as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. Nolan headed the recruiting effort that assembled much of the 2010-11 Bulldogs team that advanced to the WNIT, Yale s first-ever appearance in a national postseason tournament. In 28 years as the head coach at Fairfield University, she accumulated a program-record 456 wins and led the Stags to four NCAA Tournament appearances. Nolan s teams won three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships, and she earned MAAC Coach of the Year honors on five occasions. With Fairfield s 69-53 victory at Rider on Jan., 29, 2006, Nolan became the 28th coach in Division I history with 500 career wins. Nolan took over the Fairfield program in 1979, and oversaw its transition to the Division I level in 1981. Her 28-year tenure is among the longest head coaching reigns at one school in NCAA Division I women s basketball history. Under her watch, the Stags captured four NCAA Tournament berths and a spot in the 2000 WNIT. Fairfield won three MAAC regular season crowns and three MAAC Tournament championships. Nolan s first two Division I Fairfield teams each won 18 games before her 1983-84 team posted a 22-6 record. That was the first of six 20-win seasons, including three 25-win campaigns. Her 1999-2000 and 2000-01 teams each won 25 games, earned back-to-back at-large postseason appearances and posted a combined 50-14 record during that span. The 1999-2000 team played Wisconsin in the WNIT, and her 2000-01 squad received just the second at-large NCAA Tournament bid in MAAC history. Her first conference crown came in 1988, when the Stags knocked off La Salle, 55-50, in the MAAC Championship Game before falling to St. John s in the NCAA Tournament. The Stags returned to the NCAA Tournament as MAAC champions in 1991 and 1998. In addition to her five MAAC Coach of the Year honors, Nolan was also named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Coach of the Year in 2001 and earned New England Coach of the Year laurels in 1984. Perhaps her most impressive achievement at Fairfield is that that every senior she coached with the Stags graduated on time. Many of her former players have gone on to successful coaching careers, including Bucknell head coach Kathy Fedorjaka and Quinnipiac head coach Tricia Fabbri. Prior to her run at Fairfield, Nolan was the head coach at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. from 1974-79. She ranks second on the Terriers all-time wins list with 61. Nolan earned a bachelor s degree in Health and Physical Education from Glassboro State University (now Rowan University), where she was a four-sport student-athlete, in 1973. She earned a master s degree in Physical Education from West Virginia University in 1974 and a second master s degree in Political and Corporate Communication from Fairfield University in 1989. Nolan is a member of the Connecticut Women s Basketball Hall of Fame as well as the Halls of Fame at both of her previous head coaching stops and her alma mater. In 2008, she was inducted into the Camden (N.J.) County Sports Hall of Fame.
